Mini-movie Magic!
Chris Soth of Million Dollar Screenwriting and Hollywood by Phone gives away free screenwriting tips based on his Mini-movie Method, refined and developed from the sequencing approach he learned at USC. In his opening podcast, Chris discusses how this approach evolved, prospered in the golden age of Hollywood and was all but forgotten until it was revived by Frank Daniel at Columbia and USC. Although many working screenwriters today develop their script as six to eight manageable mini-movies, nearly all popular screenwriting books still use the cumbersome, less intuitive three act structure developed for the theater. More is promised on the Mini-movie method as well as "all things screenwriting" in future podcasts. Chris has a personable style, a great, campy Walter Winchellesque intro and outro and invaluable content for anyone interested in screenwriting.
Extremely Worthwhile
I've never heard anyone more enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge with others than Chris. His tips range from the broad basics to those "fall in between the cracks" type tips that you don't see anyone else address. I always look forward to hearing each new one.
Fantastic insight - really makes you think!
It's rare that a working Hollywood screenwriter takes the time to help aspiring writers improve their craft. Chris is one in a billion. I enjoy this series very much - keep'em coming!
