ExplicitModcast #120: 2:54 | 2:54 are a sister act. They make the kind of music that makes you feel things. Not bad things, just things that creep up on you and stay there for a few minutes after the speakers go quiet. Its a musical partnership so important they got matching tattoos on their right arms to seal it, so intuitive they can't even describe it. They treat music like a drug, always after that next aural high. Lucky for them, there's been no shortage of people supporting this habit and their place in the indie hype-o-sphere has been pretty well cemented. Right here, they've opened up their veins, curating this, the 120th Modcast. If you find yourself in the motherland (AKA England), they'll be playing an in-store show at Rough Trade East on May 31 and at Scala in London with Gross Magic and Echo Lake on June 7. ExplicitModcast #110: Pond Inspirations | Pond's fourth album Beard, Wives, Denim is an audio diary of ten friends' strange, terrible and blissful time in the country trying in vain to be a wholesome family band. It sounds just like it, distorted and woozy and fractured and ultimately nostalgic and loving. This week's Modcast is a selection of the inspirations and audio fancies behind their music. Sit back and go on a blissed out journey as the boys take you through some fresh Australian jams to some classic British 60s girl-groups and all points in-between. Track-list below. ExplicitModcast #105: ClubMod002 - F3 | Club Mod is proud to present CLUBMOD002, 'Lonely Land' by F3, the 2nd release on Modular's new imprint aimed at a dance floor in your dreams. F3 are three brothers from Tel Aviv, who sent Lonely Land in a bottle from Israel that somehow found its way to us. Are they triplets? We don't know. Are they ancient Balearic overlords, risen from their white sand graves? Or are they cosmic kids, a new generation of vagabond disco trippers taking to the future by way of the past - we can't say. Have they produced a sparkling slice of sunrise disco house? We'd like to think so. Their Modcast is a little slice of sunshine. Enjoy. ExplicitModcast #103: Motor City Drum Ensemble | The story goes that at the young age of 6, Danilo Plessow fell in love with drums. He joined his school band and by the age of 11 he'd started working on his own music, using samples and computers. A prestigious DJ Kicks commission this year is testament to his famous production and live dj mixing skills. Recently he recorded a set from a gig at D-Edge in Sao Paulo, Brazil. ExplicitModcast #98: Juan MacLean | John "Juan" MacLean is a busy guy. Since his last full-length album (The Future Will Come) he's been relentlessly touring, guested on a number of other records (including Holy Ghost and S**t Robot's latest offerings), turned out a slew of remixes (apparently there are ones for Yoko Ono + Stevie Nicks in the works too) and is working on a new house project, going under the moniker 'Peach Melba'. ExplicitModcast #97: Mike Simonetti | Hailing from New Jersey, Mike Simonetti's influence is far and wide. As headman behind Troubleman Unlimited and Italians Do It Better labels he's put out records that have often been a preview of sounds to come. As a DJ he's been responsible for some frenzied and famed nights of fun - and of course dancing. While on the production front, earlier this year he released his debut album 'Capricorn Rising'. ExplicitModcast #95: Memory Tapes | This week's Modcast is a little different from usual. Dayve Hawk, otherwise known as Memory Tapes, has lovingly created a 23-minute mix of all new, all original Memory Tapes music. Here's what the man himself had to say about the mix, titled 'Slaughtered'. "I find I listen to mixtapes more than albums a lot of the time, so I wanted to make a new record in the form of a mixtape instead of a single or EP etc. It's all new, original Memory Tapes stuff just put together in the form of an extended mix. I thought the Modcast would be a cool way to make it available to people quickly and for free." Player Piano, Memory Tapes' second studio album, is out now on Something In Construction in Australia/NZ and Carpark everywhere else. | 10/6/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #86: 0neohtrix Point Never | 0neohtrix Point Never is Daniel Lopatin, a US producer whose 2009 anthology 'Rifts' was met with much acclaim from publications such as Wire, Pitchfork, Fader, The Guardian, The Quietus, and XLR8R. He is also one half of production duo Ford & Lopatin (aka Games), whose amazing debut album 'Channel Pressure' was released through their Software imprint earlier this year. 0PN describes his production as the result of a love affair with polyphonic synthesizers that dates back to childhood jam sessions with his father's Juno 60. ExplicitModcast #72: Toro y Moi | This week's Modcast comes from Toro y Moi. It's a whimsical, reflective, sometimes a bit sassy, sometimes a bit sad, dreamy ride. Apparently he made this in bed, just for you. Smooth. Hailing from South Carolina, Chazwick Bundick as he's known to his family, is a multi-instrumentalist and quite prolific musician. He's released a stack of EPs and two full-length albums. His debut long player, Causers of This came out early last year and he followed that up with the fantastic Underneath the Pine earlier this year. We've been listening to his records on repeat. He's about to head across Europe for a bunch of shows in May, all the details are over here. ExplicitModcast #70: Nile Delta - March Mix | Going left when others go right and looking in when others reach out, Nile Delta has steadily, deliberately plotted his own path through a variety of guises before landing where we are today. Half of the first ever live incarnation of Cut Copy back in the days when it was a shambolic 2 piece, half of now defunct Relish-signed Riot In Belgium, constantly co-producing with the likes of Das Moth and Comets to name a few, half of Cutters Records inhouse future-dance factory Voltage and all of DJ Belgium, he might have trouble keeping a name but when it comes to keeping party people moving Joel Dickson's got it made in the shade. The most recent Nile Delta release, Channel/All This on Cutters, is one that's almost impossible to place in the dance music continuum. At times '86, '96, 2006 and tomorrow, it's arguably Dickson's finest moment to date and most definitely a sign of things to come. Ladies and gentlemen, for the heads, hearts and heels, The Modular Agency's newest member (full announcement coming next week) - Nile Delta and his March Mix. Track-list: Spargo : A-Go-Go (Lovefingers Edit) Chicken Lips: Steppin' Serge Santiago: Gold Edits Kink: Metropole Das Moth: Moon (Jacques Renault Remix) Maxxi Soundsystem: Criticize Emmanuel Jal: Kuar (Henrik Schwarz Remix) Shina Williams and His African Percussionists: Agboju Logun Til Von Sein: Sista O Dissey Hercules And Love Affair: My House Daniel Wang: Warped Roxy Music: The Main Thing (Rub 'n Tug Remix) Nile Delta: Channel Soft Rocks: Light Bulb Duchess Says: Black Flag (Emperor Machine Remix) | 3/18/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #67: Erik Omen In Atlantis - Hand Held Mountain Mixtape | Erik Omen In Atlantis is the latest lovechild of Siberia and Mother Sky, two forward-thinking record labels committed to bending time (and minds). His self-titled debut EP is being duplicated to cassette as we speak. Yes, cassette. Because although a frustratingly inconvenient method of music consumption, it's perfectly suited to Erik's 1975 Summer Holiday Deckchair Mood. The Hand Held Mountain Mixtape, which he somehow managed to find the time to put together this week amidst his crowded schedule of mojitos, poolside meetings with industry big-wigs and quick Swiss Alps stopovers, is built around a similar aesthetic as his own material. In fact, he even slices a few of his own tunes around the un-named classics, which were either recorded in psychedelic basements in the 1970's or during the summer 2010 chillwave comedown. You can hear a bunch of Erik's songs over on the Mother Sky Soundcloud page. If you like what you hear, you can jet over to the Siberia Web Shop where you can pick up a copy of the cassette for just $5. Sure, you'll then need to fork over $50 to buy a second-hand walkman, but it's still a great Friday investment. For digital lads, there's also the option to purchase the EP (also for $5) from Erik's Bandcamp page. In celebration of the EP's release, Erik will be performing an ultra-rare DJ set tonight at Good God Small Club in Sydney, alongside Midnight Juggernauts DJs and the infamous DJ Google Maps. Doors open at 8pm and it's FREE entry all night. | 2/18/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

You may also know him for a little ditty called Cross The Dancefloor, which has been firmly glued in our memory slots ever since those Fools Gold fellas released it back in summer of '08. ExplicitModcast #54: Gavin McInnes - Classic UK Punk Mix (No Hardcore) | Gavin McInnes just released a f*****g hilarious photo book of street fashion called Street Boners: 1,764 Hipster Fashion Jokes. Everyone knows he started Vice Magazine back in 1994 but we're the only ones who knew he grew up playing in punk bands like Anal Chinook and Leatherassbuttfuk AND he's currently in an 80s hardcore cover band called 80s Hardcore. We had him put together the ultimate Classic UK Punk mix (no hardcore) and here's what he has to say about it: "I'm listening to these songs right now from the perspective of a kid who's used to mash ups and samples and over-the-top dance music and a lot of them sound kind of s****y. I mean, 'Stand Strong, Stand Proud' isn't exactly catchy. It's a racket. However, what you have to understand about punk is it was so much more than the music. We were obsessed. It was more like a cult. We fought skinheads almost every day. We lived in a big house together. We went to anarchist gatherings and argued about communism. We would die for each other (hence all the songs about unity). We would have listened to GBH and Discharge no matter what they sounded like. In fact, when I bought my first Crass record I listened to it on the wrong speed for weeks - and loved it. For better or for worse, punk was about fierce loyalty and if the music sounded good, that was just a bonus." Tracklist 1. Generation X - "Kiss Me Deadly" 2. Blitz - "Warriors" 3. Stiff Little Fingers - "Tin Soldier" 4. Garry Johnson - " The New Face Of Rock'N'Roll" 5. Sham 69 - "If The Kids Are United" 6. Cockney Rejects - "The Greatest Cockney Rip Off" 7. **** 8. The Clash - "Bankrobber" 9. Sid Vicious - "My Way" 10. Sex Pistols - "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle" 11. The Exploited - "Punks Not Dead" 12. The Vibrators - "Baby Baby" 13. **** 14. The Damned - "New Rose" 15. **** 16. Stranglers - "Peaches" 17. The Undertones - "My Perfect Cousin" 18. The Buzzcocks - "What Do I Get?" 19. X-Ray Spex - "Oh Bondage Up Yours!" 20. **** 21. Bow Wow Wow - "C30, C60, C90 Go!" 22. Conflict - "These Things Take Time" 23. Crass - "Big A Little A" 24. Rudimentary Peni - "Teenage Time Killer" 25. Discharge - "State Violence State Control" 26. GBH - "City Baby's Revenge" 27. **** Made it this far? Great. Wondering why some of the songs are coming up as '****'? then get yourself over here and involve yourself with the contest to win of 10 copies of Street Boners by Gavin McInnes. Anal Chinook drummer Aidan Girt in the pit (he's in Godspeed you Black Emperor now) Me (right) chugging beer with a guy named Ryan whom I was friends with because he had the same green mohawk. Our friendships were based on punk, not personality. It was basically Scientology. Me with a guy who was lucky enough to be born with the name Sid at a punk house called Elgin St. The sheet behind us says "Les's Room." He lived in the dining room. Spam, Angie, Bumbaclut, and Arrow were Montreal punks that would visit us in Ottawa. Again, friendships based on music and fashion (though I'm meeting Bumba this week for lunch). At another punk house called Percy St. where I was the one living in the dining room. I'm reading Maximumrockandroll which inspired me to start making zines. Sid getting his hair cut on the porch at Percy St. by Aidan. An hour later. Me an hour after that. At a Rock Against Racism festival we put on where we got Oi Polloi to fly in from Scotland. I remember being really disappointed they just dressed like normal people. Anal Chinook's first show. This is when we opened for The Dayglo Abortions who later wrote a song about us. They were so drunk at that show the bassist was puking on stage. Didn't miss a beat. Getting mentioned in Maximumrockandroll was a huge deal for us. Working on a zine with Spam by using the photocopier at his dad's office. I have a black eye from moshing. That zine evolved into a comic book called Pervert and eventually became Vice. | 6/11/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #53: Justin Miller | "Justin Miller used to give me mild panic attacks every time I'd run in to him. The guy looks like some obscure European prince who's bumming around in NYC to escape his duties at home, and being one of the crucial cogs of the DFA machine, you kind of expect him to act like one. This couldn't be further from the truth, the guy is one of the most open and friendly dudes in NYC, and certainly the only guy there who knows how to make a flat white." "In terms of his prowess in delivering music (in a non-tangible, club way as opposed to a 'your CDs in the mail' way) he's also a man of unusual skill. From brooklyn BBQs to support for his enviable stable of artists he's always playing music that would scramble me up; "Can I REALLY go and ask him AGAIN what THIS track is?". Always fun, always unexpected, always super-dancey. This Modcast, "Killer" Miller recorded playing in situ at wolf + lamb last week. We'll put the tracklist up later, however we've been tipped off that there may be something unreleased and of interest to the DFA fanboys/girls out there. ExplicitModcast #52: Tame Impala Mixtape #4 - Kevin Parker | The fourth and final Tame Impala mixtape dubbed 'Life Affirming Music' coincidentally arrives for us the very same day of InnerSpeaker's release, direct from frontman Kevin Parker. Tracklist 1. Todd Rundgren - "International Feel" "Put this in your pipe and smoke it. Guy in 60's psych band starts solo studio wizard career of cosmic epiphanous proportions. WwwwooowwooooAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH." 2. Ratatat - "Lex" "Was obsessed with these guys for a good while. They really have their own way of playing guitar. Genius melodies/beats." 3. Dungen - "Fredag" "I have to keep a lid on Dungen's influence on me or it would consume me completely. The rhythm in this song is one I always find myself gravitating to." 4. Caribou - "Melody Day" "Canadian guy who records all the instruments himself. A perfect mutant cross between 60's psych and electronic music." 5. Supertramp - "Logical Song" 6. Supertramp - "Breakfast in America" 7. Supertramp - "Take the Long Way Home" "Supertramp marathon, f**k yeah." 8. Frank Zappa - "Peaches en Regalia" "I love Frank Zappa in very small doses, this constitutes most of that dose." 9. Prefuse 73 - "Nature's Uplifting Revenge" "A relatively schizophrenic syringe shot of bliss to the brain." 10. King Crimson - "Court of the Crimson King" "Soundtrack to battling a serpent on the edge of a cliff, losing, and then getting up and winning the battle." 11. Royksopp - "Eple" "It feels like there would be a lot more songs like this in the world but for some reason there aren't." 12. Pop Levi - "Call the Operator" "My favourite Pop Levi song, the rest of the band begged me to put another Pop Levi song on but I love it's cheesy crooning goodness." | 5/21/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #51: Tame Impala Mixtape #3 - Jay Watson | Tame Impala's skins man, Jay Watson, delivers a prog-centric tribute to seminal noisemakers and personal favourites, Yes. Stick around for the fourth and final mixtape, next week. Tracklist 1. Yes - "Close to the Edge" from the album Close to the Edge "I don't like to muck around, I'm going to throw you all deep into the greatest piece of 21st century composition (according to me and countless long-haired nerds everywhere). Title track of the 1972 classic. Bill Brufords swansong. Boundary pushing." 2. Yes - "Roundabout" from the album Fragile "Track 1, previous album. A stomping blue-sky pop gem (one of their few seventies hit singles) with both folk and fuzzed out riffs. Guitarist Steve Howe, bassist Chris Squire and keyboardist Rick Wakeman excel at wailing groovily. Sick harmonies." 3. Yes - "The Gates of Delirium" from the album Relayer "First track off Relayer, the first post-Wakeman album. New man jazz nerd Patrick Moraz brings a brilliantly epic touch to the keyboard proceedings. First 10 minutes are intense prog buffoonery before exploding into a devastatingly triumphant 5/4 mid section. 4. Yes - "And You And I" from the album Close to the Edge "Second side of Close to the Edge. Yes at their most sublime." 5. Yes - "Owner of a Lonely Heart" from the album 90125 "Cheesy 80's Yes. I think it's hilarious, stupid and brilliant all at the same time. My buddy's current ringtone. Complete with synth-orch hits and a badass modulation into the triumphant outro." So there you go. My mixtape is entirely made out of Yes. All of you internet-commenting ball-chefs can go on about how Yes suck for the next 2 weeks, but you won't faze me. | 5/7/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Tracklist 1. Aphex Twin - "Alberto Balsalm" "One of the most meltingly beautiful pieces of music ever created." 2. Lil' Wayne - "I Feel Like Dying" (Flying Lotus Remix) "I love both FlyLo and Lil Wayne, so this drugged out remix is perfect." 3. The Strokes - "I'll Try Anything Once" ("You Only Live Once" Demo) "I probably like this more than the album version. Playing with The Strokes at Splendour is one of my teenage boy fantasies come true." 4. Caribou - "Sun" "Off the new album which I've been listening to heaps in the last week." 5. GZA - "Duel of the Iron Mic" "Off one on my favourite hip hop albums of all time, Liquid Swords." 6. Foals - "Balloons" "I only really got into these guys in the last six months. And you can't really go wrong with Bowie." 12. Death in Vegas - "Dirge" "Tim from DIV helped engineer our album. I hadn't really listened to much DIV back then, but since meeting him have gone back in time to discover them and they're now one of my favourite groups." 13. Explosions in the Sky - "A Song for Our Fathers" "Explosions in the sky are my sleeping music. I put them on most nights when I go to bed." | 5/3/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

First up is guitarist Nick Allbrook, who's playlist delves into the spacier side of sounds (Television, Spacemen 3, Flaming Lips and plenty more). Tracklist 1. Iggy Pop - "Success" "Possibly the best song to walk out of your door wearing new shoes to. Note David Bowie echoing Iggy's trash bag junkie rantings toward the end." 2. Television - "Marquee Moon" 3. T-Rex - "Pavilions of Sun" 4. The Beach Boys - "Wild Honey" 5. Flaming Lips - "Aquarius Sabotage" "I had a dream I was dancing on stage with them last night, dressed as a spaceman with a face in his stomach. Pikelet - "Endurance Hunter" "The embarrassingly talented Evelyn Morris' first album with the full Pikelet band." 11. My Bloody Valentine - "Only Shallow" "This was included at Jay's request. ExplicitModcast #47: John Stanier | Take a glance at John Stanier's resume and the word 'eclectic' comes to mind. So should the word 'drummer', as Stanier's been responsible for skin duties in many a musical outfit over the past two decades: from Helmet and Battles, to Adelaide's The Mark of Cain, Stanier's penchant for percussion is well documented. Stanier's eclectic output is also apparent in his own music tastes, as this Berlin heavy tech mix he put together for us on his recent visit would suggest. ExplicitModcast #44: NZ Mixtape | New Zealand, AKA those funny looking islands to the east of Australia has no doubt got it all: Hobbits, hakas, sweet mountain views and Helen Clark. Put it down to their timezone advantage, but one listen to the nation's musical output and there's a definite pattern forming - the Kiwis have no qualms in being early adopters to killer new sounds and exciting sonic ideas. At least until Australia claims them as their own. Enjoy our salute to NZ, with the aptly titled NZ Mixtape - a collection of our favourite tunes both old and new (and in the case of Die! Die! ExplicitModcast #43: Lovefingers - Live At PS1 | Andrew Hogge AKA Lovefingers needs little introduction amongst the global disco elite, his world famous lovefingers.org has had an undeniable impact on the burgeoning eclectic dance scene of today and has enabled him to bring his eccentric taste and unique DJ style on tours throughout the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia. 'Fingers' has kindly donated to us his live set from PS1 MoMA's Warm-Up, from August last year. ExplicitModcast #42: Eric Duncan AKA DrDunks BalEric D Mix 2005 NYC | Understatement: Eric Duncan has his tricky fingers in many a musical pie, so to speak. Whether he's busy being DrDunks, Rubbing 'n Tugging, Still Going, driving the C.O.M.B.I. or playing epic two day sets before literally tearing up the dance floor of the Passerby club - he's doing something - and that something is probably more than what you're doing. Which might explain why he can't seem to remember/be bothered to give us a tracklist for this Modcast. When Eric handed us his 'Eric Duncan AKA DrDunks BalEric D Mix'* mix, he had this to say: "It was a sarcastic take on the trendiness of all those words and the 'Balearic' music trendiness basically." When it came to supplying the tracklist: "Na.. just make up your own..." Here's where you, our faithful subscribers come in. If you can figure out the tunes in Eric's mix, Eric will record a personalised answering machine/voicemail message for you in MP3 form. Not being home or screening calls has never been so fun! All you have to do is send what you think the tracklist is to: mystery-tracklist@modularpeople.com with your answers and this once in a lifetime prize will be yours. If you already have an answering machine message, Eric will address any single question that you'd like answered that pertains to predicting an uncertain future - whether it be real estate, future lovers or where your house keys got to - DrDunks has got the answers. * The alternative, uncut title of the mix is: 'BlaericLeftfieldDirtyDiscoSunsetSunriseTheBeachTheVibe Eric Duncan aka DrDunks BalEric D Mix 2005 NYC'. | 3/5/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #36: Kim Pt. I - Prog-Cast | It's a well known fact that the best things in life come in two parts. Take this week's Modcast for example, put together by the one and only Kim Moyes (aka KIM/Kim from the Presets) who has provided us with a whopping two week's work of musical ear candy. This first installment, the ambient 'Prog cast' is an ode to synthesisers, prog and all things chill. Stay tuned in coming weeks for the 'Clubby' mix. Kim: "I'm so glad I've finally been given an opportunity to make a mix based around ambient, synth-prog and new age music. I've always loved this sort of music, from classic sci-fi soundtracks, formative come-downs and the days of my old band "Prop." These sorts of sounds have played a special part in my life. For this mix I have rediscovered some classic ambient and New Age sounds as well as some great recent stuff from the likes of Nils Frahm, Black To Comm and Alva Noto. Also included are some demos from a project I'm currently working on with Myles Heskett and Chris Ross. It's early days yet so we don't really have a name or any track titles but if you like what you hear keep your ear out later in the year for more from us three. Relax and enjoy. A lot of this time has been spent shuffling between airports, planes, trains, buses, hotels, friends flats and footpaths, in Paris, Rome, Gothenburg and Stockholm. Created with the dual purpose in mind of calming the nerves in the face of tense customs situations and equally sounding sublime while gazing out the window of a moving vessel, here's a mix of stuff that sounded perfect at various points in time during my exile. More gentle blend than mix so to speak. Music For Airports, Planes, Trains and Buses This Time Tomorrow - The Kinks Morning Of The Earth - G Wayne Thomas The Ballad Of El Goodo - Big Star Diana - Skip Spence Copenhagen - Scott Walker No Other - Gene Clark Spooky - Gary Walker And The Rain Tango Whiskeyman - Can Lullaby - Moondog Milky Way - Weather Report Walking In The Rain - Flash And The Pan Be With - Koushik Jennifer - Faust 1/1 [Excerpt] - Brian Eno | 4/17/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #29: Magic Happens - Use Your Illusionist | From a young age Magic learnt the values of drawing a line in the sand without putting all your eggs in one basket. After initially falling in amongst a rag-tag bunch of misfits with nothing to lose and something to prove, a youthful Magic Happens would soon reach a point of inconsolable disillusion and eventually come to formulate his own system of beliefs and ideals, ultimately arriving at the notion of doing what's best for the party. Upon this moment of clarity he ruthlessly fled Adelaide for the open pastures of Darlinghurst. It was here that he emerged as a legend and got 'pretty anthemic' in the face of adversity. An epicentre of taste, Magic Happens then went on to get real smooth and hit the disco tip, at the time one of few to do so in a landscape dominated by murky swamp-house. Which brings us to the present, a temperate climate in which Magic Happens flourishes heaps all the time. Use Your Illusionist kicks off with Windsurfer's Vapour Trails, and ends with Juan Maclean's One Day; and everything else in between. Full track listing can be acquired by contacting Magic Happens directly. Or if you're a fully sick Internet bro, send him a D on Twitter. FTW! ExplicitModcast #28: Canyons | On a lazy Friday afternoon, the newly signed Canyons boys, Ryan and Leo, entered the Modular boardroom to lay down some of their favourite disco jams alongside some "mic breaks", resulting in some fairly hilarious calls. Best listened on a sunny afternoon, shirts-off, with an ice-cold jug of Pimms. | 3/17/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #24: Pilooski | Pilooski aka Edit Master recently bugged out our ears with a spacey modcast filled with his fave joints and edits from around the globe. As an independent artist, member of Discodeine, and editor of the D-I-R-T-Y crew, Pilooski is one busy dude. With a French feel and a global theme, this modcast is one for the musical connoisseur in you. | 1/30/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #23: Headman | S**t damn, we made it to episode 23. Break out the beer bong and slap on your party hats. Down from Switzerland to play a couple of shows on our shores, we haven't seen Headman's cute little cherub cheeks since way back when he played our Modular Monthly. He took charge on this Modcast, laying down some olduns some newuns, some of his own, some not, but all completely vibing. Headman has got his mind wrapped around the dance, knows it back to front, side to side. Over the years he's been asked to rerub Franz Ferdinand, Mylo, The Rapture, Roxy Music, Cut Copy amongst a slab of others. His talents don't stop there, he's also a bang-up producer and DJ, crafting tracks and playing sets that have seen many a sweaty jig. Not to mention, he's the head honch of his own record label, Relish, which holds talents like Franz and Shape, David Gilmour Girls, Don Cash, Yuksek and Riot In Belgium. | 1/13/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #22: Chris Devlin | One of the Spank Rock DJs, Chris Devlin pulled into Modular HQ last Friday to record a Modcast. Needless to say we all knocked off early and cracked a few coldies whilst Chris spun our heads off with a few good tunes from his stash. This one has got it all, a tightly packed tin of totally blitzing party bangers and stupidly sideways psych, with a few tropicana style sizzlers thrown in for good measure, it was a perfect way to wind down the work week and gear up for Friday night. All the way from Philly in the US of A, Spank Rock are the absolute bees knees when it comes to hip-hop and all round jams, we were psyched to have Chris in the office. | 12/2/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #21: Tim Sweeney | Tim Sweeney (the brain behind Beats In Space) dropped by recently to lay down some of his favourite jams from the outter edges of the universe for the latest Modcast. A smooth affair you would come to expect from the prolific New Yorker, Sweeney's delicious serving of funk, disco and all things chilled is the perfect accompaniment to the long hot summer ahead of you. With artists like The Fall, Arthur Russell and Super Max included, you know exactly what you're in for. Sit back, relax and drift away with the freshest Modcast this side of Siberia. ExplicitModcast #20: Tame Impala | The boys from Tame Impala stopped by the other day, all long-haired, barefooted and smelling of wilderberries to put together the latest Modcast for us. Diving into the rabbit hole of 60s psychedelia, tumbling rock from the 70s and some newer far-out jams, this mix is trip through the looking glass into the land of Tame Impala. Kevin Parker (Guitar & Vocals), Dominic Simper (Bass Guitar) and Jay Watson (Drums & Vocals) present a selection of tracks that both inspired and stimulated them during the recording of their debut EP, which is creating a certified s**t-storm in Australia. | 10/24/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #19: Dirty Sound System | Dirty Sound System is Guillaume Sorge, Clovis Goux and sometimes Benjamin Morando. Three Frenchies with a penchant treading the line between vintage and futuristic. When it comes to the party, they know how to spin it, playing all over the world beside names like Justice, Simian Mobile Disco, Headman and Kitsune. Together with Jerome Poisson handling the technical bits, they run a Paris based website/record label called Dirty. As a label, they are most known for releasing tracks by Discodeine (Marando & Pilooski) and limited vinyl runs of re-edits by Pilooski that have garnered props from the likes of Erol Alkan, Joakim and WhoMadeWho. They've also put out four compilations of off-kilter dancefloor tracks with little to no genre distinction, the latest of which is titled Dirty Space Disco. This Modcast features some upcoming Discodeine tracks and Joakim remixes as well as some club (un)classics. It was recorded live, no editing, no overdubs, they left all the mistakes, but it's still smooth as silk. | 10/7/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitModcast #18: DJ Gorky (Bonde Do Role) | Bringing us up to number nineteen, DJ Gorky of Brazilian throwdown-throwers Bonde Do Role has laced together the latest episode of the Modcast. Whether it's with his band or solo on the sliders, Gorky is known for starting blurry eyed stumbling parties by meshing his love for laying down a club rub with a buoyant and bubbly attitude. A winning combo, if we do say so. Whilst the first half of this Modcast is a sublime megamix of baile funk, hip-hop, noisy electro and dance jams that'll satisfy even the fussiest party palette, the second half is all Modular lovin' with Gorky playing his favourite tracks from the label and telling us why. | 9/23/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

He's also a founding member of the photo team OK! FRESH and art collective Totally Wreck. ExplicitModcast #12: Magic Happens | Guest mix by Sydney DJ Magic Happens."Like a fine wine, Magic Happens grew up on a vineyard. From a young age he learned the values of drawing a line in the sand without putting all your eggs in one basket.
