CleanSelling Your Podcast In iTunes | As far as I know there are no podcasts that you can subscribe to in iTunes for a fee. People like Marc Maron sell individual episodes for a fee in iTunes I've helped people do this for year, but using the same path as musicians. There are tow companies at the fore front of sellign your podcast in iTunes. These are CDBaby and Tune Core. Here are some comparison notes: 1. Both charge $49 to get set up. 2. CDBaby charges no annual fee, but takes 9% of a digital sale. Tunecore has a $49 yearly cost, but takes no profit from you. Doing ths math ($49 / .09) you would have to sell more than 544 items to have tunecore be a better deal. 3. CDBaby has 60 digital retailers (iTunes Amazon, etc). Tunecore has 27 4. CDbaby has tools to help you sell your digital files on Facebook and other tools. Another Way To Sell Your Podcast Episdoes While you can always benefit from the traffic of iTunes, don't forget you can sell directly from your website using PayPal and a tool like Magic Members (where you could sell individual tracks, or a compilation download). Magic Members is a one time fee of $97. | 5/20/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanJason Hartman’s Media Pricing | I've stumbled across Jason Hartman's media pricing page. Jason has a number of podcasts, but in this case this is regarding the Creating Wealth podcast. Jason is a successful business person and also does a podcast (that I listened to and reviewed on the Podcast Review Show) called "Speaking of Wealth" where he interviews podcasters (I swear he's going to write a book). Jason's page says its been downloaded over 1,000,000 times You can sponsor his podcast for $3,100 for 13 episode $238 per episode ($200 if you provide the 30 second clip). When I went to his website, he had 257 episodes. This calculates to 1,000,000 / 257 episodes = 3891 downloads per episode. If we then take $238 per episode and divide it by 3891 downloads = .0611 cents per dowload To calculate CPM we times that by 1000 to get $61.16 CPM. This shows that Jason is someone who truly appreciates the power of podcasting. He knows Podcasting is Not Radio. In 2008 the CPM for Radio was $4.54 and in 2010 was quotes around $17. | 5/4/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanNot Everybody Buys Something | Today I talk about some stats to help keep everyone realistic when it comes to affiliate marketing. This is that according to my website stats, about 2% of the people who click your link will actually buy something. I want you to know this so you know that when you have 100 listeners, you should not expect 100% of your audience to purchase your affiliate link. I did make $68 using Amazon links in the first quarter of 2012 and I made $40 in February using products from Shareasale.com | 4/9/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanSelling Advertising with Low Numbers | I found a great article on Smahing Magazine that spoke to the task of selling advertising on a website with low numbers. I believe the concepts in this article are the same for selling advertising on a podcast. 1. Get to know your audience with great websites like Clicky. You can get REAL time analytics (very cool and free). 2. Ask your audience with free tools like Polldaddy, and Survey Monkey, and Surveys (worpdpress plugin). 3. When you have 500 - 1000 is a good starting point, but if you have less you can still be usable (if you hare hyper-niche). 4. Put Google Ads on your website, and see what ads show up (and go directly to them). Research similar websites and see who is advertising on their site. 5. Have your numbers ready and DO NOT inflate your numbers as it only leads to failure. 6. Approach advertisers in a personal manner. No shotgun marketing. WP Ad Center All in One Advertising Ad Rotation Plugin I found a great plugin that not only allows you to input your own affiliate campaigns and banners. You can also sell advertising on your website based on time or impressions (very cool). The advertisers get to login and view their stats (great looking stats). This handles the entire sale (via paypal). You can check it out at wpadcenter.com | 3/31/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Cleaninlinks Automated Advertising on Your Website | According totheir website, "Located in New York City, inLinks.com is the premier in content static text link ad company. We specialize in placing static html links within high quality, relevant copy. Our publishers have seen a dramatic increase in steady residual income and our advertisers have seen a huge boost in their natural search engine rankings. Our cutting edge strategy is guided by our in house staff consisting of some of the brightest minds in the search space." This service will take words on your website and turn them into links that advertisers are paying for. I submitted a new website of mine, and it was turned down as it wasn't very popular. I then submitted my weeklywebtools.com website and it was approved. It's super easy to install a plugin that they provide. In a few days they will submit advertising for me. I can have my website accept everything, or I can setup my site so that I have to approve all advertisers that appear on my website. You can get paid by check (with a $25 minimum), or if yuo choose to get paid by paypal there is no minimum fee. I've installed it ony website, and I'll keep you posted as I continue to test this system. If you want to check it out go to inlinks.com | 3/11/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanLet The Audience Decide on the Product | Jay Mohr has a top ten podcast and he has decided instead of trying to figure out what product would best fit his audience, to let them decide. He is simply telling them to go to his website (Good move as his schedule is there as well) and click on the Amazon banner. From there they can purchase anything they want, and they aren't spending any more money than they normally would. With his popularity this could add up. Typically you earn 4% at amazon.com However, the more people that purchase through your link, the more you earn. There are some fixed commission rates depending on the product. While it may take some time to get into these upper tiers (as only a portion of your audience will click the link, and a smaller portion actually buy something) it is a way to allow your audience to support the show without you having to find the perfect product or service, with a good payout, in the right price range, to match your audience. In doing some quick Google searches it appears California, Colorado, Connecticut, Arkansas, and more. Lucky me, I currently live in Ohio. The reason Amazon does this is if there is an Amazon Associate who makes more than 10,000 in commissions, the Government sees this as having a presence in the state (think of this as having an official "office) and so they expect Amazon to pay state tax. Instead of doing this, Amazon cancels all affiliate sales in that state (thus taking money out of the people who live in that state, and would buy more things in that state - THANK YOU POLITICIANS). Paying all those taxes would put Amazon out of business. What they should do is take everyone's SS# and provide tax information (so those people who earn income pay taxes on that income - that seems like the right thing to do). If you're looking for an easy way to add Amazon Affiliate links to your website check out the AZON plugin | 3/4/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanPodtrac Advertising Requirements | Today we talk about Podtrac.com Its a company that offers free stats, audience surveys, players, and if you have the following criteria they will help you find advertising. These are: Every month, Podtrac reviews registered shows for advertiser interest. Podtrac reviews shows which have achieved a minimum of: Podtrac measurement data of 20,000 or more unique downloads per month, and Podtrac Survey data of 100 completes. One company that doesn't require any criteria (typically) is blubrry.com where you can sign up for their free stats service, use their free audience survey, and they offer (frequently) new campaigns. CleanGetting Paid | Today we talk about getting paid. If you are using affiliate marketing, you should cehck into the following: 1. How often they pay their affiliates 2. What formats they pay (check, paypal, direct deposit). In some cases you will need a smaller commission amount depending on what format you choose to get paid. For example, getting paid by a hysical check will always require a higher pay out amount as it is more labor intensive for the company to pay you. | 1/29/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanHow to Choose an Affiliate Program That Will Earn You Income | We have spoken about affiliate programs in the past. This is just ONE way that you can earn money with your podcast. Today I have a few tips for choosing an affiliate program. 1. Find a program you currently use and would recommend to a friend. This makes your recommendation honest, and personal. 2. Go to the company's website and see how easy it is to purchase a product from their website. After all, you won't be earning any commissions if people can't buy from their website. 3. At Shareasale.com they have a list of the top 100 affiliate programs. This is a great tools to show companies that (one would assume) have made it easy to purchase products on their website. When you are looking for an affiliate program you might want to look at this list to see if any of the products you would recommend to friends. Do NOT pick a program just because it is having high commissions. It has to FIT you audience. There are more tips in my book More Podcast Money. | 1/8/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanSelling Your Back Catalog | You can sell your back catalog. people like Marc Maron and Adam Carolla are doing this. You can use a tools like Magic members which no only allows you to sell individuals posts, but you can create different membership levels with different features. It goes for$97 and has lots of great features. A less expensive alternative is a wordpress Plugin call Estore which allows you to sell single files. The file location is never disclosed to the end-user (its scrambled) and you can set a time when the download link expires. This helps stop people from sharing the download link. You can pick up this plugin for $49. If you are thinking that people will not pay for something that they use to get for free, ask anyone who has a Netflix account if they watch any TV shows (something that use to get for free). I know I do. The ability to watch/listen on demand is something people will pay for if they enjoy your content. | 1/2/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Amuse-bouche of Podcasting Advice
Borrowing from the Wiki definition of this french term: an amuse-bouche is a single, bite-sized hors d'oeuvre. Different from appetizers which are ordered off the menu, amuse-bouches are the chef's selection alone and served as a tingler for the taste buds to prepare the guest for the meal and to offer a glimpse into the chef's approach to cooking. Literally translated, the term is "mouth amuser".
Like a fine chef, Mr. Jackson dishes up a podcasting tingler for our pleasure. These tinglers are a window into the world of his book on "More Podcast Money" available from his website. We all assimilate differently. I rather like Chef Jackson's bite-at-a-time approach to his content. Bravo!
