Interview with Patrick Lichty | A discussion with Patrick Lichty who is a conceptual artist, independent curator, animator, writer and editor based in the United States. He has been producing technological media art since 1989; his works and writing explore social relationships between people and technology. His work has been displayed at the Whitney and Venice Biennales as well as the International Symposium on the Electronic Arts (ISEA). He works extensively with virtual worlds, including Second Life. This interview also examines the work "CodePortraits", 2009, which references Andy Warhol's 1960s screentests; short videos of visitors to his Factory who were considered to have 'star qualities'. Lichty's screentests build a catalogue of friends, colleagues and artists he has met and worked with in Second Life and collectively they form a kind of self-portrait of Lichty's life in the virtual realm.
