This week Traci shares a couple of methods for increasing our revenue without putting a strain on your workload. Ep. 48 – Has Social Media Gone to the Dogs? | Featured Topic: Is it possible that social media has gone to the dogs — and if so, would that really be a bad thing? This week, Traci invites you to "paws" to consider why more than a few self-appointed social media gurus could learn a thing or two from the family pooch. Speaking of pooches - dog lovers will get a kick out of Dog is Good - http://dogisgood.com. Tell them Traci's pups sent you. How the Heck Do I Do That?: Dogs can mark their territory easily - but folks who are interested in protecting their copyrights on digital images haven't got it quite so easy. Until now. Ep. 47 – Making Your Business & Brand Water-Cooler Worthy | Featured Topic: Companies strive to create that unique message that has the combination of a compelling call to action, and that certain "extra" that makes you remember it long after you've flicked the channel, or returned to your favorite program. It's the elements that make you want to ask your friends and coworkers about it the next day...that "water cooler factor." Social media takes the concept of water cooler discussion to an entirely new level. This week Traci shares some tips to help create more water cooler worthy brands and promotions. You won't want to miss out on the recent example she ran across that illustrates the water-cooler effect in action! For those who were interested in seeing the baby doll mentioned in the episode: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=410185748994838 How the Heck Do I Do That?: When designing a website, it's often necessary to employ image placeholders. Lorem Pix is a site that makes doing that a whole lot easier. This site helps you create custom place holders for almost any size image. Check them out at http://lorempix.com. Ep. 46 – Soda Savvy & Diaper Disaster: A Tale of Two Brands | Featured Topic: A weekend trip to Moe's Southwest Grill serves as the inspiration for this week's show. This chain employs pop-culture references for their menu names (a tactic that Traci can really get behind). Traci shares why we should all raise a custom-blended toast to Coca-Cola for the brilliant Freestyle Soda Fountain, and all the marketing genius it represents. How the Heck Do I Do That?: If you are looking for ways to expand options for your customers, there are a number of fantastic solutions to you. How the Heck Do I Do That?: Are you lying awake at night wondering how you'll be able to send one last Facebook update after you've kicked the bucket? Wonder no more! A new app will enable you to create videos and messages that can be released on your behalf, post mortem. EPIC FAIL: When a subscriber decides to leave your list, they aren't necessarily closing the door forever. Ep. 41 – Incentives for Brand and Loyalty Building | Featured Topic: Incentivizing customers isn't some radically new idea, but small businesses rarely take advantage of this concept. Perhaps they are not aware of how to implement such a program, or simply aren’t convinced it will work. The reality is that small businesses may actually be better equipped to implement these programs, and can begin to see real benefits in fairly short order. How the Heck Do I Do That?: In keeping with our topic, Traci shares a couple of sites that offer services to help you create loyalty and incentive programs. Points.com - buy, trade, exchange or redeem your points from a wide assortment of loyalty programs on this site. http://points.com ZFerral - Give your customers an incentive to help you grow your business! http://zferral.com Punchtab - Create a loyalty program for your site at no charge with Punchtab. Ep. 40 – Are Those Gurus Feeding You Sugar, or Substance? | Featured Topic: To say that I have a sweet tooth would be a gross understatement. This week I liken my penchant for sugary treats with the over-hyped product launches of some of the net's so-called "gurus." Are you sinking your teeth into content that's going to actually help your business, or are you settling for something that looks great, but has no substance? We'll cover three key areas that can help you discern the difference. How the Heck Do I Do That?: There are lots of reasons why you may need to change the title of a post, and that will impact it's permalink as well. Traci shares a tip from WPMU.org about a little-known Wordpress feature that is perfect to address this. I'd also highly recommend becoming a member of their community — there is a free level, but the Elite level membership enables you to have access to a huge repository of Wordpress plugins, themes and much more. I got my membership in September of 2011, and absolutely love it. EPIC FAIL: This week we've got a "twofer" for our epic fail, and they both come to us courtesy of McDonald's. After you hear this, you may decide you most definitely DO NOT want "fries with that." Ep. 39 – How an Athletic Support Made Me a Better Marketer | Featured Topic: Traci shares an embarrassing (and true!) story from her early work experience that made her a better marketer. Find out how a stint selling sporting goods at JC Penney made an indelible mark on your host. How the Heck Do I Do That?: In keeping with our theme of product knowledge, Traci shares some resources for finding industry-specific trade publications to help you keep a pulse on information impacting your market. Epic Fail: This week's EPIC FAIL is awarded to the folks who brought us SOPA/PIPA, and realized that publishers across the web vehemently disagree with this idea. Ep. 38 – Making Your Business Shine | Featured Topic: As small business owners, we wear lots of hats - and some are more welcome than others. Crafting creative and compelling copy is no small feat! Luckily, there's folks like Monette Satterfield of Shiny Designs that can come to our rescue when we need help. In the first Fireside Chat of 2012, Monette shares some of her best tips for creating compelling bios, home page copy, and tweets. I also put her skills to the test by asking her to revamp the home page copy of the NM website. You won't believe the difference that just a few simple tweaks can make. Ep. 37 – Niche Research & Success | Featured Topic: What do old sneakers, Reese's® Cups and niche marketing have in common? You might just be surprised at the answer. Traci tackles the question of whether standing-room only niche markets are something you should jump on, or whether you should avoid them like a 70's leisure suit. How the Heck Do I Do That?: Since we're talking about niche research, rather than offer an HTH feature, Traci shares (5) helpful tools to help you keep a pulse on what's hot, and stay ahead of the trends. Ep. 36 – Diet Resolutions for Business | Featured Topic: The recent onslaught of "diet resolution" commercials got me to thinking - what if we applied the concept of diet resolutions to our businesses? What impact would eliminating all those "empty calories" and time-suckers have on our bottom line? In this first episode of Season Two, we'll take a look at some ways that we can eliminate some of the most common time-suckers, and replace them with some healthy business practices. How the Heck Do I Do That?: This week's HTH feature ties in nicely with our theme of streamlining and working smarter. TwInbox enables you to use Twitter directly from Microsoft Outlook -- and offers features such as archiving and managing tweets, grouping and searching of tweets, support for multiple accounts and more. It's available from SnapFiles by visiting this link: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/twinbox.html Epic Fail: A new feature here at Neanderthal Marketing, this week's Epic Fail details a poorly-employed use of a QR code from the USAF. | 1/2/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Traci and Mike continue to work together on the Content Protection Tips website, and among other cool topics discussed in this episode, they announce how an eggnog induced stupor prompted Mike to offer an insanely low price on the Content Protection Tips package for a limited time. Our second season will kick off on January 3rd - and Traci will be back in the studio with Rocky bringing you new weekly episodes. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season and much success in the coming new year! Customer Reviews
Good Info!
Good up to date topics - all the stuff you should be doing for your business. Lots of good Internet resources for different services. No annoying, unnecessary chit chat. I like it!
Terrific show!!
Of all my podcasts, this is my top pick for my iTunes and Stitcher Radio. Traci provides "actionable" items -- in each podcast there are at least two things I can do to improve my business. As a small business owner, that is crucial. Not to mention, the girl has charm and a great speaking voice which makes her easy to listen to any time!
