Podcast Description

An honest and frank listen into all facets of my life. I talk about not only my day to day humdrum existence, but also about those things that separate gay and straight America. I talk about my sex life in detail. Nothing is off limits. I talk about how I differ with many of my gay friends in regard to sex, religion and political issues. This is more than just a snapshot into my life. It is a room with a view, a very open view of my life. You will meet my friends and my sex partners. I will talk to people I find interesting and share those conversations with you. This is a personal journal podcast unlike anything you have ever experienced before. Give me a listen. But be aware that I speak openly and honestly about my life. Its not always a pretty picture.

Nick is a modern John Rechy

Nick has a gritty podcast. They are his telling of his life and thinking. There has been a recent development though: Nick has fallen love with a young man on the internet. This has revealed a gentler side to him. His story is building.

Pour a glass of iced tea for me...

Politics, Sex, Religion, Clash of Cultures, Family, Friendship, and the Meaning of Life...all between sips of sweet, iced tea! I just discovered this podcast, which with the rise of Twitter, almost seems old-fashioned. However, for those of you out there born and raised in a small or medium sized Southern town, a lot of what Nick talks about and the daily contours of his life will seem familiar, including things like "the trail" and being gay in the Bible Belt. For everyone else, Nick's life is probably not much different, generally speaking. I suggest that you start at the beginning of what is offered on ITunes (Spring 08)--Episodes 231 (PDA in Birmingham) to 235 (Answers)--and go from there. In these first four episodes, the listener gets to know Nick, slowly, and what motivates him, makes him happy, angers him, and even scares him. Sure, as other reviewers have remarked, it takes a little getting used to, and not everyone will appreciate the Southern drawl, the details, the diatribes, the cruising, etc. However, in between the rants, there is real reflection: on the meaning of life, suicide, aging, love, intimacy, sexuality, God, etc. The first episodes are also interesting because it allows the listener to go back in time, when things in our country were different: Bush was still president, the election was in full swing, the economy had not tanked, and Spanish-speaking latino migrants still made their way to Alabama to work. Like all of us, Nick is trying to figure it all out amidst seismic change. If you're looking for slick(er) and funnier podcasts on entertainment or sex, then ITunes has other offerings. I don't know how "real" any podcast can be, but Nick has made me laugh and think, and that makes me want to keep listening.

LOVE MY NICK!

Nick's voice has a smooth Southern-style served up with no holds barred honesty.
