| 17 | Videopodcast #51 The planet5D Xume Quick Release Adapters review | The word that keeps coming to my mind is "brilliant" - and you'll hear it several times in the video review - but the Xume Quick Release Adapters really are amazing and I believe they're going to revolutionize the filter market (I won't use the 'game changer' phrase but man, once you've tried one you won't want to screw in a filter ever again!). We're incredibly excited by the way that David at Xume has chosen planet5D to be the first to get a set of these for review. Xume Quick-Release Adapters free you from the tedium and frustration of changing filters while clients wait or as the perfect light slips away. Never miss a shot or compromise your creativity again. | 25 | Videopodcast #43 DSLR Solutions Follow Focus Review | DSLR Solutions announces a simple inexpensive DSLR follow focus – a planet5D exclusive first look at this new HDSLR follow focus unit from dslrsolutions.net. We talked with Aric Spence yesterday and this could very well be a great product for those not wanting to buy a rails system to mount a follow focus. It has a very finished look as it is made of stainless steel and will look good in front of clients. It will require a firm tripod or mount because you are handling the lens more directly than a rig mounted FF. When asked, Aric did confirm it takes a bit of practice to get smooth results without shaking the camera, but as you can see in the samples below, it looks quite smooth. They are manufacturing this in the USA as well! | 6/20/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 26 | Videopodcast #42 gps4cam - GPS encoding your photos | Are you looking for a simple solution to encoding the GPS location to your non-gps DSLR photos and are willing to spend $2 or so on a solution (and have an iPhone), then I have the answer for you! gps4cam is a handy $0.99 (for now) application you should have. Until the DSLR makers decide to include GPS for encoding location information to your photos automatically and without adding lots of $ to the camera cost - and if you don't want to buy an expensive add on unit, then this might be the easiest option on the market. There are some more expensive options that do work (depending on camera model and functionality) and they encode directly into the images as they are shot. This method takes a little bit more work, but it has the advantage of not attaching something else to your camera and it is very inexpensive. Read the full review at: http://blog.planet5d.com/yai Learn more about gps4cam at their site: http://gps4cam.com/ Note: I said it was $0.99 in the demo and I was wrong - I was looking down at the developer's other application which is $.99 - gps4cam is $2.99. Sorry! | 6/9/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Well, in his words: “I’m a cinematographer and editor primarily, I do steadicam and post color grading sometimes too. I also run a production company called Crooked Path Films and am author of the popular “Idiot’s Guide to 5dMkII Cinematography“.” I’ve seen Richard’s work a couple of times already and just this week, I met him on the set of Moon Ring – the full length feature being shot this week with the Canon EOS 5D Mark IIs in Arkansas. And I got to watch him demonstrate his craft when he was called in to perform a steadicam shot for one of the final scenes for the movie. | 68 | Videoplanet5D PodCast #6 Aaron Kohn | We’re very excited about this one – another planet5D exclusive shot with Canon EOS 7Ds – a new short that will be coming May 4th from some Columbia University students and we’ll exclusively be bringing you all of the background materials, tutorials, and product reviews along with a chat with the producer! The film was shot a week ago and now is in post production. “In two weeks I’m directing a short film at Columbia University… I’m a student there… not actually studying film… but during the pre-production for the film, I’ve lined up a couple of sponsorships and a few companies are lending us gear for the shoot in return for online videos and reviews. The angle for all of this is that the 7D, and especially the T2i are going to have the biggest impact I imagine not on the professionals in the industry, but film students who are obviously going to spend $1000 on a T2i and lens rather than spending 4-5 thousand on a 3ccd HD camcorder. Yet, most resources online are for professionals; there aren’t a lot of resources designed for students.” | 12/20/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

I don’t know exactly when I ran into Lisa, but I know it was several years ago, long before she started using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I found her on flickr I believe where she’s got a large fanbase because she shoots some great portraits (yes, stills! LOL! We’re still looking at stills around here!). Lisa has also been using the Canon EOS 5D Mark II‘s video capabilities to do some reporting during the recent winter olympics (we’ve posted her here before as well). So not only does she do great portrait work, but we’ll ask her about moving into the video world! | 12/20/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Could go some where
Audio is pretty bad. He need's to prep his guest. Explain to them that a apple wireless head set is not a mic. He also argues with the chat room which is odd. There are weird silent moments when he is reading the chat room. Then some times will argue directly with these people. He need's to turn off his computer screen and devote his attention to his guest. Guest that take time out of their busy day to be there. Not fight with dorks in a chat room. If he was to focus on the guest this could be a great podcast..
Solid Podcast
I think this is a very well done podcast, is it perfect, no, but what is. When it comes to presenting interviews via Skype, you get what you get. I think Planet Mitch does a great job bringing us the latest and greatest in the video DSLR world. If I had any complaint, it would be that some of his guests are so full of themselves it's nauseating. I won't mention any names, but one in particular, in every interview I've seen this guy in he comes off as a very arrogant individual. The fact that this person was the first to show the world the capabilities of the 5DMarkII, it's also a fact, that has gone completely to his head.
Why is this a video podcast?
The audio is so horrible (both host and guest), assuming to cut down on file size, but why even have video? There's nothing to see. Give us better audio quality rather then an iSight camera shot of your face.
