Observed Tech Podcast: Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 50
|
Welcome to Episode 50 of the Observed Tech PODCAST. We have now reached the half century mark!
Our show this week, in celebration of our 50th Episode, focuses on the process, software and hardware we use to put together the Observed Tech PODCAST. I have been asked before what I use so I thought why not use the 50th show to do just that.
Of course we do not leave you without any tech news of the past week so we do wrap up with a look at the past week on WindowsObserver.com (http://www.windowsobserver.com/) and talk a lot about the new Microsoft Windows SkyDrive App that came out recently.
Check out the notes below for links to all the sources.
Enjoy and as always thanks for listening!

Observed Tech Podcast: Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 47
|
Welcome to Episode 47 of the Observed Tech PODCAST and our show this week is focused on the release of the Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone from AT&T.
We start off talking about the pre-order experience, getting over some hurdles and the great customer service from AT&T, for me anyway, in the process from start to finish. We then discuss the reviews that came out this past week after the embargo lifted Tuesday night and the wide ranging nature of them including all of the same old arguments about the Windows Phone platform, app store and hardware specs. Then I share some thoughts about preparing for your new Windows Phone transition from either another Windows Phone or a different manufacturer including reinstalling apps, setting up email accounts and a way to add an additional layer of security to your handset. I spend a little time talking about the handset itself and my first impressions of it. Finally, I encourage all of you to talk about your new handset as the enthusiast crowd starts to post their impressions of the phone, both the hardware and the OS, to see what the everyday users think of it.
As usual we wrap up with a look at the past week on WindowsObserver.com (http://www.windowsobserver.com/).

Augmented Reality Dirt: AR Dirt Podcast – Episode 004 – Augmented Reality and Rise of the Robots
|
Welcome to Episode 004 – Rise of the Augmented Reality Robot.
We remember the movie Terminator, where a cyborg assassin programmed to kill travels back in time from 2029 to 1984. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the Augmented Reality hyped-machine that needs to assassinate Sarah Connor, the link to the rise of the human resistance which fights back against a world-gone-bad with machines.
Unless you live in a cave, are a Sudoku addict, or are repulsed by Mashable or Wired magazine, then you are missing some incredible changes in technology lately.
There are some amazing newsworthy items and developments that you will not want to miss on Augmented Reality Dirt.
Spread the word…Subscribe to us in iTunes and rate us a 5 star if you enjoy the content. We are also in Stitcher, Miro, and a host of other Podcast forums.

Observed Tech Podcast: Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 44
|
Windows 8 – Windows 8 – Windows 8
Welcome to Episode 44 of the Observed Tech PODCAST and this one is all (almost) about Windows 8. Of course the episode number – 44 – results in the number 8 if you add them together. That of course was not planned at all – just worked out that way and for some reason I find it interesting. I begin the show talking about my experience last week at the Microsoft MVP Summit 2012 in Redmond, WA on the Microsoft Campus and what it was like to meet and network with so many great people at the event. Then the episode shifts to the main subject Windows 8. We discuss several resources that are available to help introduce you to the Windows 8 Consumer Preview that was released to the world last week. The resources range from fellow bloggers like myself, to the Microsoft team themselves who are working on Windows 8, to journalist across a broad range of sites. The goal of course to bring you the best introduction and exposure to Windows 8.
We wrap up with a look at the past week on WindowsObserver.com (http://www.windowsobserver.com/) and highlight all of our Windows 8 coverage so far.
Check out the notes below for links to all the sources.

Welcome to Episode 43 of the Observed Tech PODCAST – our early Sunday morning episode!.
On this show we start off talking about the busy week that is in front of us with Microsoft Download Day 2012 (http://www.windowsobserver.com/2012/02/24/leap-day-2012-is-now-known-as-microsoft-download-day/) on Wednesday which includes the release of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Other areas we cover are Skype’s milestone of 32 million logged in users at one time; voting on student Windows Phone Apps; Nokia sales 2.7 million phones; Twitter co-founder says spending too much time on Twitter is unhealthy; lots of pcAnywhere users still unprotected; no direct folder to folder sync in the new SkyDrive; parents continue to be unaware of their child’s online activities; how to raise a geek child; Foxconn, ABC and FLA reports about Apple factories; auto-translate being tested on Twitter; Comcast to have a streaming service as well; create a password recovery disk for Windows; judge says defendants can be notified of need to appear via Facebook; Microsoft officially extends consumer security update cycle to 10 years; some misconceptions about SPAM; Google breaking some privacy settings and rules in IE; new Windows 8 logo is coming and we learn just how long and how much it would cost to build our own Death Star.

Observed Tech Podcast: Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 37
|
Welcome to Episode 37 of the Observed Tech PODCAST where we wrap up our CES 2012 coverage.
In this show we try out a slightly different format to spend more time discussing fewer items from the tech news world and introduce our new opportunity to influence show content by using the hashtag #observedtech (https://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23observedtech) on Twitter. If you tweet us a question or comment and use that hashtag we will incorporate that info into the next episode of Observed Tech. We also mention the unofficial official news of moving to produce two episodes of the Observed Tech podcast each week. That move will allow us to do the things we are trying out in this episode of the show.
This episode is mostly about CES 2012 and some of the hardware and services highlights that I found interesting. There is also news about my hosting issues for the site and the upcoming WindowsObserver Windows Phone 7 App being built by Neuralnet Systems (http://www.neuralnetsystems.com/).
As usual we wrap up with a look at the past week on WindowsObserver.com (http://www.windowsobserver.com/) so check out the notes below for links to all the sources.
Enjoy and as always thanks for listening!
