A great resource for rational parents!
It's a great concept for a skeptical podcast. Parenting and raising a child to think critically are issues that aren't often addressed, and I'm glad that Beyond Belief is taking it on. As a parent, I've heard a lot of woo and old wives tales about how to raise my kid. It's nice to hear others that take a rational approach to parenting. I'll be listening each week!
Great beginnings...
Like the concept, and the execution, mostly. It seems like a topic that could go far.
If you really are interested in gender gaps in science and math, and how they are reflected/created by early stereotyping, you need to spend a little more time looking at the research and a little less time speculating based on your own experiences: Is it true that girls are still turning away from STEM in large numbers? Have any programs to combat this problem been successful? etc.
Other gripe: please, please, please try again with the theme song. The lyrics are painful.
Wonderful parenting podcast for secular humanists
I was thrilled to discover that some of my favorite skeptical parenting blogs were getting together to product this podcast - it's a wonderful resource for secular humanist families. Good information, funny and warm hosts, and good production values. If only they'd shorten the intro, it'd be perfect. (Seriously guys, lose the song, please?)
