ExplicitJapan On Fire 3 – Samurai cinema (Chambara) | It may be the third but not the last JOF as Ken once again host a fun-filled episode where the trio discuss samurai movies. Don't expect any refined opinions though on The Twilight Samurai and Samurai Commando. We're not scholars. DO NOTE THAT SPOILERS FOR THE TWILIGHT SAMURAI ARE DISCUSSED BETWEEN 00:58:50 AND 01:02:28. Adam Torel also stops by for a visit to share his thoughts on the genre. Some technical issues resulted in the latter half of the show being noticeable lower on Ken and Mike's end while Stoo is very loud and Ken's chat with Adam for some reason has an echo on it. ExplicitPodcast on Fire 46: The re-launch of Shaw Brothers dvd’s in Hong Kong… horse crap or dreams come true? | Couldn't decide what to use as cover art, so when in doubt... The Magnificent Trio does need to discuss Silverhawk a little bit but rightfully time is spent on the only vaguely official announcement that Shaw Brothers movies are hitting dvd in Hong Kong again. With a list that will wet anyone's appetite, is it safe to assume this boner-inducing list of movies will produce actual dvd releases? Customer Reviews
West Meets East!
Three European gentlemen who provide a humorous, informed perspective on asian cinema that often gives great recommendations. These guys have a fun, down-to-earth take on asian films, mostly from Hong Kong, seem genuinely enthused to share their love of the genre, and more than occasionally do their homework to give some interesting inside scoop on the histories of the people and movies they're discussing. A definite recommendation for anyone looking for recommendations on a quirky, offbeat movie to pick up, or to be reminded of nearly forgotten asian movie classics of yesteryear.
First and Best
The first and best Asian cinema `cast, with a nice mix of global perspectives. PoF combines the deep knowledge of the longtime fan with the enthusiasm of fresh discovery. Instead of simply focusing on the immediately popular or soon to release as a means to garner casual listeners, they honestly follow their interests and inspiration - while directly querying and responding to the listenership. With PoF, you get in shorthand the kind of long-term perspective that it usually takes decades to develop on one's own.
asian (hong kong) cinemas #1 (and only) podcast.
Likable dudes with encyclopedic knowledge of hong kong cinema. They talk over music, which can kinda work when its some thematically relevant instrumental music, but is distracting when its something like rock music with vocals. overall sound quality isn't great but its worth a listen for the recommendations and info. Its not so much asian cinema as just hong kong cinema but they do cover some japanese korean films etc. especially recommended for kung fu fans.
