Would love to hear your thoughts of Mass Effect Andromeda
It's just okay.
I listened to several episodes because I'm in the middle of another trilogy playthrough and needed a Mass Effect fix to tide me over between gaming sessions. It's auspicious in wanting to cover all of the games and all peripheral things related to Mass Effect, but it doesn't feel very thought out. The host's style of delivery is just not my thing. I got tired of listening to him and the guests rag on characters that I enjoyed just because they thought they were dumb and under-developed. I try to approach every game with an open mind and make myself available to enjoy the experiences I'm about to have, even if I don't know anything about the game, and with a few exceptions the host and several guests didn't really seem that open-minded; they made their judgments on which characters were good and not good, and that was it. Later episodes quickly devolved into what amounts to two gamers talking about their likes and dislikes, with very little else of value. It felt more like I was listening to two friends talking on the phone and less like a formal podcast where a guest is interviewed.
TL:DR, I found myself getting more annoyed with the episodes than I found myself enjoying them. This is unfortunate, because Mass Effect is one of the most well-thought-out RPGs ever, and there is very little podcast material about it. I had high hopes that this would be awesome, but it's just not.
Great.
Very good Mass Effect Podcast.
