Podcast Description

Read it and Weep is a good podcast about bad books, movies, and TV. Each week 2.5 comedians and a guest make fun of things like Twilight by Stephanie Meyer, Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, Going Rogue by Sarah Palin, and anything Keanu Reeves has been in.

Definetly worth listening to.

This is the podcast that got me listening to podcasts again. It's funny, nicely edited, and even if you haven't read the books, it's still accessable. Highly recommended for those who love (good) books.

Liberal arts majors seeking work, podcast at 11.

The Read it and Weep guys are snarky crew of well read philosophy majors with a low threshold for bad writing. They wisely choose to listen to the audiobooks of the garbage they criticize, thus saving their eyeballs for better fare like Garfield cartoons, Kant, and probably graphic novels. Most shows feature the compliment sandwich, the O.G. of any creative writing class where one must desperately find something praiseworthy in even the most fetid of works. Frequently they manage to invert this and their best compliments still toss a grenade. Frequently hilarious, always spot-on in their assessment, Read it and Weep gets better with each episode as the hosts gain confidence and their guest critics feel free to cut loose. Sometimes it feels like they've left a little too much searching for the joke in the final edit, but it's worth it to hear their process of worrying an irritant to make a pearl. I'm enjoying them more as they expand their criteria to include overblown hoo-ha like Atlas Shrugged and not just clear idiocy like the Twilight series or some starlet's attempt at literacy.

Great show and hope to see more!

I found this podcast through a blog post where someone described it as an "MST3K for books". Over the last few days I've listened to most of the episodes, and I've really enjoyed them. =) This show has so much potential. I do hope that they expand past chick lit to all the other awful books out there!!
