Obesity leads to so many complications like high cholesterol level, blocked arteries and the increased risk of coronary diseases. People easily get addicted to fast food hence they are greasy and fatty foods. Most harmful effect of fast food includes nutritional deficiencies, increased cholesterol levels, cardiac problems, obesity and many other threatening health hazards. These days campaigning against ill effects of fast food is carried out in every sector to save the life of people. Fast Food Nutrition Facts FDA encourages consumers to request nutrition information from fast-food restaurants to avoid harmful effects. These days, fast food restaurants display nutrition labels on the food products they sell. Some eateries will even publish their fat content for the information of the customers. The government of different countries recommended to include information about calories, fat and other nutritional values for food items in supermarkets. Newly introduced legislation in Congress would require fast-food outlets and other restaurant chains to do the same.http://www.myfit.ca/nutrition/fast_food_statistics.asp | 5/6/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Label Me Royalty: Fighting Against Stereotypes - Jan 15,2012 | Our children need to see that they are royalty and they need to start using labels like "Royalty" to describe themselves. We must begin to show the benefits and importance of the many different roles that Black Americans play in our communities. Our children are watching, so it is time to stop fighting one another if we want our children to do the same. The positive actions that we take need to be promoted by each other the same way that songs are played on the radio and shows are promoted on television. We must help those that take the initiative to do positive things in our community and show the positive lights that are being shined in the neighborhoods that we live in. This must be done so that we can begin to build stronger structures in our communities. This allows our children to see positive actions on a more consistent basis, and it enables everyone to witness the power of common-unity while we overshadow the negative things that are present. While everyone watches, we can say "Label Me Royalty". By showing and sharing strength, we can begin to be examples of key positions in society that are waiting to be claimed by our children. We are the remedy for our present wounds and it is our responsibility to heal our communities with more than temporary pain relief for symptoms, instead of cures for the problems. Hope needs to be present even when situations seem hopeless or a part of life that is destined to happen. The positive parts of our history must be shared in confidence and with the support of others. We must be able to tell our children "I am important! This is my kingdom that will soon be yours! I Am Royalty: a Profile In Black History!”~Emmanuel Brown-Publisher and Editorial Director of Label Me Royalty | 1/15/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Deadly Devotion: Author Alysia Sofios - Nov 27,2011 | For decades, the family of Marcus Wesson, his wife, Elizabeth, and seventeen children lived sequestered in a social and emotional prison, enduring his tyrannical reign of physical, sexual, and mental abuse. Then came the terrible day when a family confrontation erupted into a harrowing standoff: with police and SWAT teams descending on a small blue house in central Fresno, Marcus Wesson murdered nine of his children. Television reporter Alysia Sofios got the first tip about Wessons arrest and was a witness to every twist and turn of the horrific case through to Wessons trial. Risking her job and her life to offer friendship and support to the traumatized family members scarred by memories and guilt, reviled for having the Wesson name. Alysia Sofios chronicles the case that shocked the nation, and gives voice to their astounding stories of survival. This is a stunning account of healing from one mans unimaginable acts, and how each, in time, learned to break free from a deadly devotion. | 11/27/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Ghost Hunting Texas Style - Oct 30,2011 | Bertie has been intrigued with the paranormal from a very early age. Originally from Houston, Texas she has made her home in Austin. Bertie is a project manager for a global software company, she owns a web design business, and makes room for investigations after work. Shes had several personal experiences with the paranormal and supports the theory spirits do exist, and wants to collect evidence proving this theory. "My goal is to help people by validating their story. For one, I believe everyones story. I believe they did have an experience(s) if they believe they did. Sometimes, finding someone who can relate to your story is half the battle. You get some peace of mind knowing youre not crazy." In her quest to discover "how" spirits may exist she set out to find other individuals with the same idealogy, and as a result founded the Ghost Hunters of Texas. www.ghosthuntersoftexas.com | 10/30/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Osmosis The Poet - Sep 25,2011 | Osmosis the poet and osmosis the theory are powerfully similar; the process by which information or concepts comes to a person without conscious effort, educates, empowers, encourages, enlightens and entertains with masterful metaphors and creative use of structure and language. This Clarksville, Tennessee native is a man of inspiration, who is passionate about sharing his thoughts with a brilliant sense of history through spoken word. Osmosis appreciates poetry, but he does not write poems. His spoken words are recitals of stories with plots, characters, beginnings, ends and most importantly, substance, which will have hearts, souls and minds wanting more from this prolific writer who understands love, life and pain. Writing is his way of expressing his feelings and brings out the diversity of his personality, emotions and conceptual story-telling. Osmosis diversity is so prevalent in his 2006 and 2009 book releases, "The Sunshine From Behind the Mountain" and "The Black Soap Box," respectively. He write stories of love with the help of his alter ego, Mick Swagger, but Osmosis is the writer, producer and director and like his historical orators, he stands behind the mic with his feet firmly planted on top of the soapbox, so he can be heard as his words uplift a culture, change lives and make dreams come true .www.osmosispoemz.com | 9/25/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Spotlight Sunday: Singer Durand Bernarr - Sep 11,2011 | Usually R&B mixtapes are self-indulgent and under-produced to a fault. There are those times, however, when an unsigned talents mixtape is a welcome introduction to an astonishing gift. Twenty-year old Cleveland native Durand Bernarr has voice, voice and then more voice to bless your ears. His untrained, yet near flawless technique conjures references to Eric Benet and Rashaan Patterson, with the intelligence and fearlessness of Tonex. As a young man, his song choices for this cover heavy debut tend to be uber-contemporary, with material by Ne-yo, Rihanna, Gnarls Barkley, John Mayer, Kanye West, and J*Davey all getting his stratospheric vocal treatment, mostly favorably. Still, its on more original compositions like the radio-ready cuts "Speak 2 Me" and "...In My Mind (U Aint Got Me)," and the absolutely hilarious "Rodeo Jazz" that Durand is more brilliantly himself. Still young in his song craft, some songs meander and the production mix sports definite stumbles, but few to the point of distraction. Whatever the mixtapes deficiencies this YouTube star can outshine them all. Notable songs: "Closer/Dont Stop The Music," "Whos Gonna Save My Soul," and "In My Mind (U Aint Got Me)" ~By L. We Need To Talk: A Message To Our Daughters - Aug 22,2010 | Janks Morton is an award-winning documentary filmmaker known for poignant, tough-love documentaries about African-American males like "What Black Men Think" and "Men to Boys." Now, as the father of an 11 year-old girl poised on the brink of blossoming into a beautiful, but possibly vulnerable young woman, he was inspired to make sisters the subject of his latest offering. So, this go-round, he traveled to the Southside of Chicago where he interviewed ten female survivors of the battle-of-the-sexes about their relationships with their dads during their formative years, and also with their boyfriends when they first started dating. Janks posed a series of probing questions in his trademark fashion. The telling, and frequently tearful responses of each, whether Kenisha Byrd, Stephanie Brewer, Anika Jackson, Trudy Martin, Carla O’Neil, Conchita Jamison, Jaime Gill, Soneika O’Neil, Rhonda Benson or Donna Watkins, generally revealed a wounded soul profoundly affected by a dysfunctional, early family life, often the product of an absentee father. Consequently, we learn that most lost their virginity while still in their teens, before ending up either having an abortion or becoming a single-mom. Rhonda, whose dad died when she was 1, relates how she became sexually-active at 13 at the prompting of a much older guy. Her biggest regret? The abortion. Her advice to girls coming of age? “Don’t compromise! You weren’t created to be a playmate for the male gender.” www.whatblackmenthink.com | 8/22/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Up Close & Personal: Marty McConnell - Dec 18,2009 | Marty McConnell’s work explores the intersection of gender, sexuality, religion, and history. Using the perspectives of figures as diverse as Catholic saints, pop culture icons, and the population of the traditional tarot deck. McConnell’s poems both comment on and illuminate what it means to live in early 21st century America, a period marked by both an expanded concept of human interaction – the first Black President, gay marriage at the cusp of legalization, the explosion of communication through technology – and vehement, sometimes violent efforts by select populations to protect the status quo and even return the country to its segregated, repressive past. For nearly a decade, she co-curated the flagship reading series of the New York City-based louderARTS Project, which featured poets including Yusef Komunyakaa, Mark Doty, Marie Howe, Dorianne Laux, and more. She appeared on both the second and fifth seasons of HBO's Def Poetry Jam. She returned to Chicago in 2009 to co-found Vox Ferus, an organization dedicated to empowering and energizing individuals and communities through the written and spoken word. Overcoming Sex Addiction: The Road To Recovery - Nov 22,2009 | The term “sexual addiction” is used to describe the behavior of a person who has an unusually intense sex drive or an obsession with sex. Sex and the thought of sex tend to dominate the sex addict's thinking, making it difficult to work or engage in healthy personal relationships. Sex addicts engage in distorted thinking, often rationalizing and justifying their behavior and blaming others for their problems. They generally deny they have a problem and make excuses for their actions. Sexual addiction also is associated with risk-taking. A person with a sex addiction engages in various forms of sexual activity, despite the potential for negative and/or dangerous consequences. In addition to damaging the addict's relationships and interfering with his or her work and social life, a sexual addiction also puts the person at risk for emotional and physical injury. For some people, the sex addiction progresses to involve illegal activities, such as exhibitionism (exposing oneself in public), making obscene phone calls, or m*********n. However, it should be noted that sex addicts do not necessarily become sex offenders. | 11/22/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Living The Life: Trapped In A Man's Body - Oct 04,2009 | Today's show will feature two beautiful spirits: Angel Pariz & AEONfarr. Angel's Story: I've been fighting for respect and equality for physically abused children, homosexuals/bisexuals/lesbians and transgenders ever since I was a teenager. I'm a victim of physical, sexual, emotional and mental abuse. As a result of abuse, I lived a lot of my teen years with low self-esteem, and also as a gay person. My life was threaten, I was tongue lashed, insulted and victimized by members of my own family. I hated my life, but as I became older and knowledgeable, I gained strength and self-esteem. I became an advocate for victims like myself and the youth. I was molested by adults from the age of 3 to 14, I was bullied, sent death threats, verbally insulted, disrespected, disenfranchised, and the list goes on. I wish to remind you, people are desperately hungry to feed, and it doesn't matter whether it's children or through violence and victimization. To feel superior and feed their greed, some people attack anyone who's vulnerable with low self-esteem. Silence is silence until one speaks out. If we remain silent, we give more power and authority to bullies, predators, and other evil people. | 10/4/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Ciara's Story: Drowning In A Mother's Womb - Jul 26,2009 | Today's show will feature author/publisher Ciara L. Anderson. As a survivor of child abuse and neglect, I use my personal experiences and professional knowledge to serve as a role model for youth. I remind them their potential does not have to be overshadowed by their circumstances. By sharing my story, I hope to help similarly disadvantaged or abused children see their obstacles become hurdles. I'm a dedicated mental health and social service provider, and I use my personal and field experience to create powerful and vivid images in my publications. Through life's journey, I discovered it is best to accept life for what it is, never take it for granted and stay REAL and LOYAL. Through my trilogy, "Drowning in a Mother's Womb," "Potentially Ruined" and "I AM" you will explore countless TRUE stories that remain untold do to fear or feeling unworthy. I decided to make a difference in somebody's life, and share my testimony with the world. Surviving Motherhood Without Killing Your Kids - May 11,2009 | In the Ministry of Motherhood, author Cheryl Lacey Donovan tackles the issue of single parenting with raw emotions, insightful lessons, biblical references and relevant life changing inspiration for mothers of all ages. It will minister to women who are living the life that Cheryl has overcome. The empowering refreshing messages will challenge mothers to look inside themselves for change. It will help them to identify the strongholds in their lives; public assistance, lack of education, abusive relationships, and tear them down with the help of the creator. Cheryl's transparency in "The Ministry of Motherhood" tears down all of the excuses for why single mothers can't succeed. It breaks down the lies that are told about single mothers. It defies the statistics that say the children of single mothers will never amount to anything. Cheryl's journey from being a teenage parent to being a successful mother, author, talk show host, and inspirational speaker is inspiring. Cheryl's transition from the devastation of an abusive marriage, which left her with two sons at an early age is a testimony. "The Ministry of Motherhood" is more than just a mere book. It's a testimony of God's ability to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ever ask. Fred Brito Story: Journey Towards Redemption - Mar 22,2009 | Who is Fred Brito? I empower, inspire and motivate people all across the world to turn their lives around, and I show them step by step how to do it. Far too many times, I've had to start from scratch and rebuild my own life, and when I did, I did it against all odds. I was successful at everything I set out to do. Why? Because I was determined not to become dependent on others, but independent on myself and my inner ability and desire to WIN at all costs. I refused to allow myself to dwell in the "poor me" syndrome, and I refused to wait on others to help me to stand up, and make things happen. I knew early on, "No one was going to help me but ME, so I better get busy and I claimed my life back." It makes no sense that I have these skills and not share them with others. | 3/22/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

When Love Hurts...Should You Leave? - Feb 15,2009 | Today's show will be about emotional and physical abuse in relationships. Discussion panel with guest author Sharon Y. Morgan will join the show, and talk about her new book "Mindgasms." The gift of a poet is the ability to entwine words and emotion into a single piece of magic. For that one brief moment in time, you are connected to the heart song of your soul through the words written from another's soul. This book is about that connection of hearts and souls and bodies. It is about being in love, making love, and sharing souls. It is also about the heartbreak and the soul-aches that can come along with gifting your heart to another human being. But mostly, this is a collection about the celebration, through fantasy and reality, of allowing yourself to just let yourself love. | 2/15/09 | Free | View In iTunes |
