ExplicitRebel FM -- Episode 38 (A Special Show) | This episode is very special for us. While it starts off with the standard game talk, covering things like Captain Forever, Torchlight, and some Civ. Rev., it transitions into something unlike what we've ever done before. We recently traveled to Houston, Texas to tour a Children's Miracle Network cancer ward. While there, we interviewed children and their families, and have put that, along with a talk that includes Doc from SarcasticGamer.com, into a special second half that is great to listen to for information about pediatric cancer, but also about how you can help. Donations stay in your area, and if you're interested in contributing, you can go to our special Children's Miracle Network donation page, here. Then we go into a long second segment about writing in games media, but not how you're used to; if you've ever asked how you can be a better writer, or wanted to know what you might be doing wrong, or what everyone else might be doing wrong, you'll want to pay close attention. Then we close out with letters. Apologies for some spotty audio quality here and there, as some nobs were nudged where they shouldn't be. ExplicitRebel FM Thanksgiving in July Short-tacular! | Let's get this out of the way: it's a short show this week, and the sound quality is not great. Rather than skip a week due to some tomfoolery and shenanigans, we decided to sack up and record another of our diner-table podcasts. It's a long round of what we've been playing where we talk about the Uncharted 2 beta, Point Lookout, the new Fallout 3 DLC, and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, and then it's on to a few letters. However, you should also email me (or comment) with questions for the developers of Gun by next Monday, as I should be chatting with developers before the concluding episode about the game, their thoughts on it, and answers to the questions you send in! Things To Come
When I first heard EGM and a large portion of the staff was being shut down I instantly thought of what would happen to the podcasts. This isn't to say that the site and magazine were bad, but I felt the podcasts were the perfect combination of both outlets into these perfect, hourly bites. I had only discovered podcasts about a year ago (I know, I'm late and horridly out of touch with the tech world) and my first reaction was "What's the big deal." Then I found the entire collection of 1up podcasts: EGM Live, 1up Yours, 1up Show, Retronauts, and more. I was amazed, I wasn't just reading words from these guys, I was hearing their voices and seeing their reactions to the games I loved as well, and just like that they were all gone...or so I thought. I know I should probably wait for this podcast to get into its pace. I mean its the first episode and its riddled with mic issues, sound problems, struggling coordination. But I still enjoyed it all and that's a testament to how damn good the podcasts this cast makes are. It's not about the technical side of things but the personalities behind the passing of mics. So I give them five stars for who they were, who they are now, and who they will become. I know this is the beginning of something more than just Rebel FM. You can't put down people of this calibur and expect them to disappear.
With out a doubt the best
after hearing what happened to most of the crew at EGM and 1UP i was happy to see this guys so fast on the ball to keep things going. Thier continue dedication to the all things gaming is awesome. I have been a long time listener of all the shows on 1UP. I tip my hat to you guys and know you'll do great in all the things you do ~Tim H Minneapolis MN
Warning: Podcast contains interesting video game discussion. Not your ordinary gaming podcast.
These guys (and lady) didn't miss a beat. One day they're responsible for one of the best gaming podcasts around. The next day they're unemployed, with an award deserving podcast in essence done forever. But here it is, back again with a vengeance and only a couple of days late. My expectations for quality and entertainment value should have been low considering the circumstances that led to this podcasts inception but they clearly were determined to raise the bar. Keep it up. Thanks!
