Phoenix Landing 15th Anniversary Boat Cruise | Here is the complete and continuous recording of the night, with sets by Peter Bailey, Chuck Caseroc, Shannon Shalako, and Randy Deshais. This is a bonus post to my full review of the event, including the story of how I came to be a resident DJ at the Phoenix Landing. Shannon Shalako – Live in Boston 2011 | This is the story of how I came to be a resident DJ at The Phoenix Landing, an unassuming Irish pub across the river from Boston, USA, and of an epic night on the water had by nearly 300 music lovers this past Independence Eve. In 1996 I was a college student and DJ of [...] | 7/6/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Shannon Shalako – Live in NYC 2011 | Five years ago I had the good fortune of playing a blissful outdoor party in the majestic garden of the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, housed in the landmark Andrew Carnegie Mansion on Fifth Avenue in New York City. It was was a balmy Summer evening and the lawn was alive with the vibe of [...] | 6/14/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Shannon Shalako – Back To Work | I started working on this mix back in March but abandoned it after many unsatisfactory attempts. Then during a recent practice session I opened the incomplete playlist and a 60 minute journey came together exactly as I’d envisioned. After a couple of uptempo mixes at the beginning of the year I wanted to make a [...] | 11/6/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Armand – Rise, Vol. 1 | This is the story of how I got into dance music. I’ve always been a fan of electronic music in general. When I was ten my favorite artists were Brian Eno, Thomas Dolby, Devo, Laurie Anderson, and Jean Michel Jarre (probably the most influential artist for me – check out Oxygene Pt. 2 – mindblowing), [...] | 9/30/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Osheen – Trance #7 | Osheen was rocking dancefloors when the rest were kicking the slats. When rave came to the north-east USA in the early 90′s, Osh was already an area veteran and quickly became known as New England’s chief house rocker. His style was jacking, chuggy, and swinging, with sophistication, muscle, and lots of surprises; a vibe that [...] | 7/23/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

M Gee – Yellow | Two DJs synonymous with the New England rave scene in the early- to mid-nineties were 333 and M Gee. British brothers, Paul and Mark Slater were regulars on the A-list East Coast club/rave circuit and held a residency upstairs at the original Loft on Stanhope Street in Boston. 333 played mostly trance in those days [...] | 5/15/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Dante – Tribal | At some point in late 1993 or early 1994 I returned home to Santa Cruz for a visit. During this trip I went to a rave in San Francisco that Dante was playing at; I’m pretty sure it was an event thrown by Wicked. The venue was an indoor/outdoor space under a freeway overpass in [...] | 4/13/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Onionz – Sweetmix | A real gem here from Onionz; circa 1992. Some of my favorite early techno and trance jams pitched way down and blended with that mysterious element which made young Onionz so magic. A common phrase uttered by DJs and trainspotters in the early 90′s whenever O was playing was “Where the f*#@ does he get [...] | 3/18/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Garth – Live @ Vision | In late 1992 or early 1993 an offer appeared on a rave mailing list I was subscribed to (probably NEraves) for a five tape collection of recordings from a party in San Francisco called Vision. I don’t know exactly where or when this event was held, but based on the music I think it was [...] | 3/13/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Markus Mehta – El Tintero 004 | The fourth episode of El Tintero comes from our collaborator in this project, Markus Mehta, head of Munich-based Electronic Soul. Markus, tell us about this mix… Getting this months mix together wasn’t the easiest task. I had so many great records to choose from, all of which were released in the last couple of weeks. Jeno – Live @ Wonderland | Wonderland was of the Boston area’s first large raves. KC & The Sunrise Gang held “Deep” in Portland, ME, the weekend before and there was a lot of excitement that a scene was developing and we were all part of something special. Wonderland was held in the Northeastern Trade Center in Lowell, MA on January [...] | 2/27/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Tin Tin & Bob Bentley – Live @ Blue | Though several promoters had been throwing smaller events in New England for about a year by this time, it was in the first months of 1993 that things really took off for the New England scene. Events got larger and more frequent. KC’s “Deep” (1993-01-23) and Never Neverland’s “Wonderland” (1993-01-30) were both outstanding but the [...] | 2/21/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Shannon Shalako – El Tintero 003 | I’m a little late with my mix for the third episode of El Tintero. I’ve been digesting a lot of music lately and had a tough time deciding which direction to go. Very happy with the result; I think it’s worth the wait (I know you’ve all been waiting). This mix begins with a lovely [...] | 2/14/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Markus Mehta – El Tintero 002 | The second episode of El Tintero comes from our collaborator in this project, Markus Mehta, head of Munich-based Electronic Soul. His mix was recorded live during a gig at the Ampere Club in Munich in late October 2008. Back Story While on vacation in Spain in September 2008 Shannon Shalako lost a hand of cards [...] | 1/19/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Shannon Shalako – El Tintero 001 | While on vacation in Spain in September 2008 Shannon Shalako lost a hand of cards for which he bet he would do a dj mix every month for a year. His friend Markus Mehta, of Electronic Soul, bet the same on the next hand and also lost. So they decided to do this podcast together. [...] | 12/27/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

Memories
I've been going to the Phoenix since 1996. This is the Mecca of Trance, House, Progressive, Drum & Bass etc etc etc. The 15th Anniversary of Phoenix boat cruise was a real tribal gathering of sorts. The gathering of some of Boston's Godfathers of House was an amazing experience. My thanks to all the DJ's & organizers for a unforgettable night.
