rv_cast 019 Mixed by Tim Paris | This episode of the Resonant Vibes Podcast is mixed by Tim Paris . Today Tim Paris can be found living in London, however he built his DJ reputation in the Parisian party scene frequently playing alongside the likes of Jef K., Chloé, Alexkid and Ivan Smagghe. His sound is undoubtedly original and can be described as moody and dark but still sexy and soulful, and it’s a sound that’s been influenced by his French house heritage. . In around 2002 Tim Paris lent a hand to Jef K. setting up the label Crack and Speed, and he got his first break-through with a remix of Future Now which was picked up by Ralph Lawson for 2020 Vision. More recently he and Jef K. set-up another label called Marketing which serves as a primary outlet for Paris’ productions along with other regulars including Ivan Smagghe, S**t Robot, Alexkid and Lance DeSardi. Personally I think Marketing is an exciting label to follow with it’s uncompromisingly fresh spin on house, tech-house and techno. . What’s he doing today? Well, for his current musical project he’s teamed up with Ivan Smagghe under the name It’s A Fine Line. Their plan is to balance production alongside DJs shows both in clubs and on the festival circuit. So far their material has been well received as they continue to push the boundaries that encompass their sound. . In a similar fashion, Paris’ podcast episode sits a little outside the normal vibe we offer with the series, but over the last few days I’ve had it stuck on repeat as the blend of nu-disco and house is hard to beat. I hope you enjoy it. . —————–—————–—————–—————–—————–—————–—————–—————–—— Subscribe to rv_cast – The Resonant Vibes Electronic Music Podcast! rv_cast 017 Performed Live by Paul Brtschitsch | This episode of the podcast is a recent live set from German electronic artist Paul Brtschitsch. No newcomer to dance music Pauls’ been releasing records for over a decade on labels like Plus 8, Music Man and Ostgut-Ton. . He was born in Berlin but moved to Frankfurt at an early age. Growing up in that city led him to attend the early years of legendary Frankfurt club Omen which is where he discovered his passion and love for electronic music. . When he took the plunge into production it was alongside André Galluzzi under the Taksi moniker. Their collaboration paid off with a number of noteworthy productions including Schneesturm which Richie Hawtin licensed in 2000 for his Plus 8 label. . Fast forward a few years to the summer of 2006 and Brtschitsch decides to make the inevitable move back to Berlin, celebrating his return with an appropriate dance floor bomb with Twirl/Under out on Ostgut Ton. . In 2007 he started his own label Rootknox and in 2008 he teamed up with Anja Schneider to co-produce her first album Beyond the Valley. He also went on to produce Morning Glory with Gabriel Ananda, which was released on a Karmarouge compilation. Later that year saw him break into Groove Magazine’s Top 10 Live Acts for 2008, further cementing his reputation as one of the best live electronic acts out there. . Brtschitsch’s 5th solo album was released in the summer called Me, myself and Live. The title reflects the importance that he feels live performance plays in his life and the album draws on the energy of his live sets while fueling his stage appearance. . About this podcast: I think the vibe of Paul’s live set is noticeably different to a normal DJ set and it has an organic energy that combines with a feel of improvisation that keeps you engaged all the way to the end. I’ve found myself listening to it a few times this week and enjoying it a lot. What do you think about it? . All-in-all, I hope you enjoy this special edition of the Resonant Vibes podcast. You can learn more about Paul Brtschitsch by visiting his MySpace page. .<br [...] | 1/11/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

rv_cast 016 Mixed by Angel Alanis | This episode of the Resonant Vibes podcast is from veteran house and techno producer Angel Alanis. . Angel’s been producing tracks since 1997 under many monikers including the names A2, Kasper Weiss and Miguel Wihn, so the chances are that you might have heard something by him, even if you don’t know who he is. . His broad range of styles ranging from house and filtered disco workouts to tribal house, tech-house and minimal have helped him secure remixes and collaborations with top-tier artists including Felix Da Housecat, DJ Rush, Colette, Sinead O’Connor, Greenskeepers, Julia Fordham, Robbie Rivera and Pole Folder. . In 1999 Alanis released his debut album The Subconscious State of Techno and followed it up with the release of his hit Do You Like the Way You Feel When You Shake which was also the inaugural release for his imprint A-Squared Muzik. In 2004 he found himself ranked in BPM Magazine’s Top 100 DJ List after producing DJ Colette’s Dancestar Award winning song: Feelin’ Hypnotized, which later went on to be heavily licensed commercially for compilations and appeared in the film Devil Wears Prada and in a Motorola advertisement. (The full post, podcast subscribe info and download links are after the jump.) . More recently his projects have involved him being one of the founding partners of the techno label Klientele and part of Chicago’s Noise Floor Crew. Most notably during his time with the Noise Floor Crew they remixed Portishead’s song Third which garnered the attention of New York Magazine and Big Shot Magazine. . Today Alanis has parted ways with both Klientle and the Noise Floor Crew and has relocated to Cincinnati (Ohio), which is also home to Race Car Productions one of the Midwest’s more prominent techno labels. Could his time close to the label prove to be good fortune and a possible outlet for some of his future creative endeavorers? . Currently, he’s been working with DJ Pierre and the Afro Acid team on Pierre’s solo album, while focussing on his productions and the launch of his new independent label M-too which will focus on house minimalist music. Angel also tells us he’s working on a mainstream project called kliphart that he feels is set to build on the success of his previous work to date. . rv_cast 015 Mixed by Jason Patrick | This episode of the rv podcast comes courtesy of Chicago based techno DJ and producer Jason Patrick. . Jason is originally from Detroit but now lives in Chicago and is co-boss of Klektic Records alongside Nadia Podolsky who also runs runs the Volatl™ promotions and booking agency which is based in Chicago. . I’ve heard Jason spin a few times now and I’ve always been impressed by his unassuming style behind the decks, and the way he just gets down to business. His track selection is excellent and he combines it with a good technical ability that guarantees after his slot he’ll have the crowd just where they need to be. . His talent certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed in the Windy City as these days he finds himself in popular demand as the opener or closer of choice for most of the Volatl parties. His interview, the track list and podcast subscribe details are after the jump. . What are you currently working on? . Currently I’m working with Max Jacobson finishing up a remix of a Dilo vs. Gurtz track. The remix will be a part of the next Klectik vinyl release that will be out in March, aside from that I’ve been really busy promoting the most recent release Max Jacobson’s Klectik05.5 EP, and focusing on my DJ-ing with a lot of gigs as of late! . How did Klektik get started and what’s on the horizon for the label in 2010? . Klectik got started in 2006 in Detroit. The idea was to get together a platform to release my music as well as artists that I’m friends with and who’s music I like and believe in. I really wanted to have something in place that would allow me to put things out exactly the way I wanted them with my own vision as far as the sound that I’m interested in, as well as the visual presentation of the label. It really didn’t get off the ground until I moved to Chicago in 2007 when we released the first record. We have a lot planned for 2010, the next vinyl release with Dilo vs Gurtz, an EP from Argentinean producer Alexis Cabrea, music from Chris Fortier, as well as Max Jacobson’s first vinyl EP for the label! . How was your podcast recorded, and do you use the same set-up when you play live? . The podcast was recorded at home from Serato running off a Macbook Pro, two Technic 1200s and an Ecler Nuo3 mixer recorded into [...] | 12/15/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

rv_cast 014 Mixed by Billy Nasty | The fourteenth installment of the rv podcast comes courtesy of British techno pioneer Billy Nasty. . In the business for 20 years Billy’s early beginnings were in London’s acid house scene before growing into the huge global following he enjoys today. With his combination of experience and hunger for new music it’s made him one of the industry’s most enduring and in-demand DJs. . As a DJ he came from a rare groove and funk background before making his first forays into house with his residency at The Brain Club in London. At that time he was also working at the London record store Zoom, which gave him the chance to soak up everything from American house and techno to the emerging UK progressive sound and European trance. . Quickly making an impact on the club world in 1993 he was asked to contribute the first volume of the seminal Journeys By DJs series – gaining him entry into the Guinness Book of Records for being the first DJ to produce a commercially available mix. . As the dance scene of the early-90s splintered into numerous subgenres Billy’s profile sky-rocketed, and by the mid-90s his productions started to enhance his reputation, thus ensuring him a place among the jet-setting elite of global DJs. It was around that time that he formed his own agency Theremin, and he was in part responsible for introducing the talents of household names like Adam Beyer, Marco Carola and Joel Mull to the world. . His label Tortured Records showed the development of his style into a harder, purer form of techno, and it quickly became one of the genre’s most influential and prominent imprints. Electrix Records followed in 2001, which became a place where Billy released more experimental techno and electro from artists including Umek, The Advent and Carl Finlow, until he shut it’s doors in 2006. . Billy has spent most of the 21st century continuing to DJ but also regaining focus on his studio work. Recently he’s been collaborating with Gregor Tresher for labels including Datapunk, Terminal-M, and Crosstown Rebel’s Rebel1 subsidiary. He’s also been working on a new project with Keith Tenniswood — of Radioactiveman and Two Lone Swordsmen — which is set for release later this year. There’s not much to go on about the project but Billy’s suggested it’s a fresh direction that may surprise anyone who had him down as a pure techno artist. <span style="color: [...] | 11/11/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

rv_cast 013 Mixed by Estroe | The thirteenth installment of the rv podcast comes courtesy of Dutch DJ and native Esther Roozendaal, who you might also know as Estroe. . Estroe first got behind the decks some 12 years ago while plying her professional trade as a nurse. It didn’t take long to attract attention of promoters in Amsterdam and she landed her first residency in 1997 on the back of solid performances at the Amsterdam club Melkweg. Since then she’s held audience at some of the preeminent German and Dutch clubs including Tresor and Watergate in Berlin, Cocoon Club in Frankfurt, and Club Mazzo and Club 11 in Amsterdam. . In addition to a busy club schedule she’s also shared the stage with some of the biggest names in electronic music like Derrick May, Sven Väth, and Carl Cox while having the opportunity to perform at festivals including Detroit’s Movement Festival, the Dutch Dance Valley Festival and the Amsterdam Dance Event. . About 6 years ago she turned her hand to production and over the course of a couple of years she saw her first material released on the Dutch imprints Musical Journeys and Muzikism, but it was late 2006 that can be considered the turning point for her production career when she caught the attention of Carl Cox with her track Bellisimore. . Early 2007 continued in a similar vein, when she released Driven on Connaisseur Superíeur—which makes a cameo on her rv podcast—it’s a track that found it’s way into many top DJs’ record bags including Garnier’s and Digweed’s. Driven furthered her reputation as a producer who can deliver balanced tracks with equal emphasis atmosphere and warmth while finding the right amount of energy and drive. Digweed was so impressed by the track that it prompted him to ask her to remix for Bedrock. . So what now for Estroe? Well, her first full length artist album Elemental Assets is released November 6, with the digital release dropping a week later—<a title="Review of Elemental Assets | The Resonant Vibes Electronic Music Blog" [...] | 11/5/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

rv_cast 011 Mixed by Sam Gracie | This week I’ve put together a slightly longer podcast than usual which runs for about 1 h 26 mins and it’s a DJ mix recorded with a single take. It starts off housey and groovy before getting deep and techy. Then it goes into a bit of techno before wrapping up with some deeper stuff again. I really enjoyed mixing it as I was able to combine tunes that work really well in a club alongside some others that I might not get away with playing out. What’s more, it’s been a few weeks since my last mix for the podcast which means I had a great selection of new tunes to use. . rv_cast 010 Mixed by Savas Pascalidis | This weeks podcast is mixed by Savas Pascalidis. In 1999 he founded his own record label Lasergun Records, as the perfect platform for his special brand of futuristic funked out and stripped down techy disco grooves. Ten years later on and his new label project called Sweatshop has been launched with the inaugural release by him called “Deep Inside Your Eyes”. . For his podcast he delivers a grooving techno workout with what I’d call a Detroit-meets-Berlin approach. With everything from surface noise to the occasion drift and featuring producers like Omar S., Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin and Robert Hood it goes a long way to capturing the vibe of quality techno. . A long time DJ of 20 years, Savas started his career as a House/Disco DJ in southern Germany in the 80’s. He became a resident in what could be regarded as some of the most influential and forward-looking clubs in Germany during that era. In 1990/91 he hosted Stuttgart’s first techno nights and helped pioneer a sound that went on to dominate floors all over europe. It was also during the 90’s that he built up his reputation for delivering non-nonsense minimal, Detroit, house, and techno “rave” sets. . As a producer Savas has been putting out tracks since the mid 90’s. With a string of releases on DJ Hells’ seminal techno label International DeeJay Gigolo Records, he’s also seen been released on other important labels like 909 Pervertions, Loriz Sounds, UFO, Mote-Evolver, Figure SPC, and his own Lasergun and Sweatshop imprints. All of this simply lends testimony to his ability as a producer, and has helped cement his reputation as one of the driving forces in European techno. . I hope you enjoy the mix! . Track List: . 1. Omar S. – Still Serious Nic 2. Carl Craig – Angel (Jerome Sydenhams Remix) 3. Psycatron – Deeper Shades Of Black 4. Shlomi Aber & Kenny larkin – Sketches 5. BLACKJOY – Monilola (Argy Remix) 6. Kerri Chandler – Pong 7. Mike Shannon – The Re-Nag 8. Robert Hood – Obey 9. Samuel L. Session – Bao 10. The Sanctuary Project – The Music Box .
