Retromazing!
I cannot count the number of times I have searched the tags "Retro" and "RPG" on the iTunes podcast directory. So, when I discovered this specific podcast, I was overjoyed, yet cautious. I noticed that there have only been 11 episodes so far and with the tendancy of many gaming podcasts to cease functioning with little or no explantion as to why, I didn't want to get too attached. However, after listening to the latest episode I could tell that this is a great podcast with loads of potential. I even liked it enough to go back and listen to all the previous episodes as well. Good things! - The hosts are hilarious and the chemistry between them is great. The show has a feel VERY similar to "Dave and Joel's Fast Karate for the Gentleman" (Awesome podcast) and the hosts have a great chemistry. I love the way they always seem to get into arguements about minor stuff, haha. You can tell that they're really good friends and it makes for good listening. They also play through the entire game that they are discussing so they always have a lot to talk about and they're not just going off of what they remember of the game. There's music from the game they're covering spliced into parts of the show and I like that as well. These guys generally seem to know what they're talking about as well. By that I mean, they know quite a bit about retro RPGs. Not so good things... - The podcast is still pretty new and it shows a bit at different times. Also, it only updates bi-weekly because it takes the hosts a long time to play through the game (these are RPGs after all). However, from what I can tell, there have been many times when the podcast has been really late. I'm a pretty new listener so I can't say for sure though. Also, sometimes it seemed as if they just started discussing what happens in the game which can get pretty boring. Lately they've been talking more about their personal experiences though, which is always more entertaining. In my opinion, the format could possibly use some work, but it's not bad by any means. Either way, this podcast is great, not perfect, but still really good. If you're a fan of retro games, RPGs, or anything in between you should definitely check out this podcast. It's not all that professional or anything, but who cares!? It's funny and it has a lot of personality. Keep it up guys!

So it turns out I have no idea how I actually found out about this podcast. I assume I was bored or drunk or something and messing around on iTunes, but there's no way to be sure. Anyways, about 2-3 weeks ago I was getting sick of grinding towards the end of Final Fantasy III on the DS so I figured while doing so I'd see what this "Derek and Don" thing sitting on my iPod was. I turned out being very impressed. The hosts review older RPGs in a casual style, and aren't obsessed with giving every aspect of a game number ratings or to try to come up with some objective scale to figure out which one is the "official" best. They play the games, and sort of give a step by step description of their experiences playing them. The off-topic banter they wander into at times can be hysterical as well, and often keeps me listening to a podcast about a game I'm not too interested in. It's a few laid back people talking about retro RPGs, and it ends up being a lot of fun for the listener as well. I don't tend to stick with many podcasts but this is one I really do look forward to. Check it out.

I started when you guys were on episode 3 and listed to all three right away. Haven't missed one yet! Listening to you guys is about the same as listening to my frineds talk about games, but your playing the greatest games of all time, Old RPGs! Just started Robotrek today... lol... (Just finished Illusion of Gaia myself. Hope you guys cover that one day)
