CleanRetroist Podcast – Episode 108 – The Rubik’s Cube | I know what your thinking…didn’t you cover this subject already?? Yes I did, in episode 1 and since then I have been wanting to recover the subject. It was going to be my 100th episode before the Atari 2600 podcast happened, so I waited a few episodes to get this out. While some of the subject matter is re-covered. I added some new stuff and it is more in line with the modern format of the show. I do not plan on doing many revisits for shows, so I hope people enjoy this one. Music on the show was provided by Peachy, if you have musical needs, why not contact Peachy at peachy@retroist.com. The Rubik the Amazing above is by Joe Spicer. You can find more of Joe’s work on deviantART. You do not see a lot of Rubik the Amazing Cube fan art on the internet, so I am very happy to see Joe keeping the dream alive. CleanRetroist Podcast – Episode 100 – Atari 2600 | Today’s episode is a milestone in Retroist Podcast history, The 100th episode. Hard to believe, but here it is. CleanRetroist Podcast – Episode 093 – The Jetsons | On today’s show we talk all about the hit Sci-Fi cartoon series, The Jetsons. We talk about the pre-production, the cast, production of the show, its reception in the US and much much more. We talk about working on the Jetsons, how she landed the role, the process of working on the show, her work on Battle of the Planets, working with Bing Crosby and much much more. It was a real honor to talk to her. As I mentioned in an earlier post this week, the Jetsons title, Rockin’ with Judy Jetson is finally available on DVD. CleanRetroist Podcast – Episode 031 – The Retroist Halloween Special | I feel so clever, the Halloween show is episode number 31. How cool is that? Oh well. Today’s show is a little different. Instead of the normal retro pop culture subject discussion, I have asked various contributors to share with me Halloween memories and stories. I am joined by Jonathan from Rotting Flesh Radio, Christopher Tupa from ctupa.com, the Zerbinator, Shellinator, and Joebinator from ZerbinCAST, metagirl from the Retroist Podcast, Brian Boone from Love Hate Society and of course retroist.com and Kill Screen aka Tom who is a big part of retroist.com. It was all going swimmingly until an uninvited guest showed up at the Retroist Studio I have here at my place. Triumph quickly turns to tragedy and my life will never be the same. Despite that, it was a really fun show to put together (felt like doing a old time holiday special) and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it. CleanRetroist Podcast – Episode 004 – Scooby Doo, Where are You? | Today’s show is all about Scooby Doo, Where are You? I talk about about the history of the show, the actors who gave voice the legendary characters and touch briefly on the shows that were influenced by Scooby Doo. Jonathan is back again this week and he brought his love of Tiki culture with him. This week he reviews his favorite Scooby Doo episode, “A Tiki Scare Is No Fair“. New talent this week! I would like to welcome Metagirl to the crew. She is presenting the top 5 list this week and we are very pleased to have her aboard. The Retroist Podcast family keeps growing – we might need to build some new offices soon (especially with Jonathan using the storeroom for all his extra Tiki stuff). For more information about Tiki Culture check out http://www.tikicentral.com, interested in owning some Scooby magic? Visit Amazon and pick up Scooby Doo, Where Are You! – The Complete First and Second Seasons. Love nostalgia? CleanRetroist Podcast – Episode 003 – Famous Nintendo Missteps | Today is an exciting show. Not only are we covering the 3 most famous Nintendo missteps (R.O.B, The Power Glove and the Virtual Boy), we also add a new member to the Retroist Podcast family. Jonathan from Rotting Flesh Radio is joining the cast of the show as our resident media reviewer. This week he does a great review of the Nintendo themed Fred Savage vehicle, “The Wizard“. After listening to his segment you will definitely need your own copy on DVD from Amazon (at 7 bucks it is like they are virtually giving them away). I got a lot of great suggestions for shows over the last 2 week, but would love to hear more. So if you have any suggestions for topics you would like for me to cover in the future, email them to me at theretroist@gmail.com. If you have an idea for a movie or video you would like Jonathan to review, drop him an email at faroutspacenuts@rfrpodcast.com. CleanRetroist Podcast – Episode 002 – Saturday Supercade | Do you like cartoons? How about video games? Well you came to the right place. This week’s Retroist Podcast is about the CBS early 1980′s Saturday Morning Masterpiece “Saturday Supercade”, which hit the airwaves on September 17, 1983, and ran for two seasons. I talk about all the show segments (Frogger, Donkey Kong, Q-Bert, Donkey Kong Jr, Pitfall Harry, Space Ace and Kangaroo), play some commercials and throw in some surprises for good measure. Oh and if you have a moment please stop by iTunes or Zune or wherever you might download the show and perhaps give the show a quick rating. It would be much appreciated. The Retroist podcast is an audible treat down memory lane!
Every podcast from the Retroist is filled with usefull information for those fortunate enough to remember the 60's, 70's, and 80's. I particulary enjoy hearing the commercials and music from my youth. I also appreciate his podcast being clean and have no fear of my nieces or nephews hearing the f-bomb every ten seconds. Well done, Retroist, well done!
fantastic!
Being an 80's afficionado, I'm always on the look out for great retro-themed podcasts...and I definitely found one in the Retroist!
All hail the Retroist
The Retroist's is the best pop culture blog out there - an impressively long format show, exhaustively researched with winning personal anecdotes. Always a fun surprise to see what each week's new topic is - the favories being video game consoles like the Intellivision or an '0s sitcom like Mr. Belvedere. It's clear the Retroist loves and respects what he does, and you always learn something new, even if the topic is something with which you're already super familiar.
