Elijah: God's Strength Found in Weakness: Israel Shall Be Your Name | In the fourth sermon of the Elijah: God's Strength Found in Weakness, Pastor Todd continues in 1 Kings 18:19-31. We learn that all of us our theologians in some way. We are constantly interperting life within our theological framework, wether concious or not. In this episode of Elijah's story, we can often see ourselves identified not with Elijah, or the even the prophets of Ba'al, but with the people of Israel on the sidelines who were "limping between two opinions" about who God is and what he is like. Although God has revealed himself through the Apostles, Prophets, and Jesus Christ, we often feel that we are too sophisticated for the revelation that he has provided. Our own theology, or worldview, is always somewhat broken. We are moving towards a Biblical worldview, although never having a perfect one in this life. Having this humble posture is an essential component of understanding the Gospel and our own human frailty. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 13.0px Arial} | 10/30/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Elijah: God's Strength Found in Weakness: Troubler of israel - Leadership In Anxious Times | In the third sermon in the Elijah: God's Strength Found in Weakness, Pastor Todd teaches from 1 Kings 18:1-19. In this passage, we learn about Elijah, Ahab, and Obidiah. King Ahab is highlighted as an example of a weak leader, who looks out for his own interests and comfort by adapting. Through his failure to protect his kingdom from pagan influences, followed by a lack of taking responsibility for his own failures, he is mirroring his ancestors in the Garden. Obidiah and Elijah exemplify leaders who fear God more than man, and stand on principles even when it is unpopular and dangerous. | 10/23/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Elijah: God's Strength Found in Weakness: God’s Great Evil | In the second sermon of the Elijah:God's Strength Found in Weakness series, Pastor Todd continues expounding the narrative of Elijah and the Sidonian widow. In the passages covered, the widow's son dies, and she confronts Elijah about her suffering, associating her son's death with her own sin. We learn that although evil and suffering in the world is a result of sin, it is primarily a result of sin's devastating consequences on creation in general, and not direct cause-and-effect. We are also exhorted to take responsibility for our own contribution to the evil and suffering in the world, and not to self-righteously sit in judgement of other people or people groups. | 10/16/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
