I have listened to Michael since about the 3rd show. The other day, I found an old "pod-cast" of my own. In the recording, I went on and on about motivation, finishing to the end, and the value of editing within the batter's box. The voice was different, but the message is the same as The Secrets. However, Michael hadn't just been telling me what I already knew and believed, but he was telling what I needed to know next. I began thinking about my influence at the time of my recording. I had recently listen to "On Writing" by Stephen King. What he said rang true in me, and I began to think and act like King in my writing. Michael has been influenced as well. I wouldn't dare call my podcast to myself nor Michael's a derivitive of King's essay, but Stevie is so damn good at it that he has trademarked 'telepathy.' In the traditions of master writers like King and Stackpole, let me be brief. Stephen King is writing Enterainment Weekly and retired... Michael A. Stackpole is writing books, writing a newsletter and doing a pod-cast. Listen in because Michael understands the craft and explains it with skill.

It's OK But Not Great

I'm sure there's some good info in there but after 3 minutes into the 1st episode I was still listening to ads and gave up. Also, there are huge jumps in the sound levels (especially in "bridge" sections) that are (a) very irritating and (b) require constant adjustment.

"...For anyone who is serious about writing."

Michael A. Stackpole, an author with "38 books to [his] credit," discusses writing, writing strategies, writing problems, story outlines, and overall how to become a better writer. The subjects range from how to get published and edit your work to characterarcs and creating a fictional world. On a personal note, I started by downloading only two episodes (there were 20 avalable at the time) which seemed to appeal to the problems I was going through as a writer. I soon downloaded every other episode that had been published. Stackpole discusses anything even casual writers need to know. Mind you, this podcast is not only for beginning writers, but for anyone who puts pen to paper.
