Customer Reviews
Fantastic Job!
Besides having excellent audio quality (which is lacking is so many podcasts) this one offers information that would otherwise be difficult to find and understand. While Steve's lingo is often over my head, Leo makes sure that everything is explained in a way that many average users (me) can understand. The fact that the shows cover subjects that are useful to all operating systems is a plus, especially being a Mac user myself.
Easy to Listen to Describes items with detail and understanding
Steve Gibson is obsessed with computer security and it is really reflected in this show. This is a good thing as he presents the infomation in english and you can be a beginner to advanced user and still understand the topic. Keep up the great work.
Ad Segments have ruined this podcast
Look, I'm not a freetard, as FSJ might say. Everyone deserves to make a buck, but now nearly half of every show is dedicated to its sponsors. I am genuinely interested in and respectful of the sponsors for Slate, NPR, NY Times and so forth, because the ads are just that: ads. When I can, I give such sponsors my patronage. But now Leo has transformed himself into the Billy Mays of podcasting, with his infomercial inspired bits. His "I'm not going to talk about A----e.com, but I will continue to do it anyway, because I think my listeners are stupid" approach is starting to make me really question if the podcast is on its last legs. No only are these segments crass, but I simply don't believe a word of what Leo says. I also think Steve is getting thin on material with the recent introduction of a week dedicated to listener mail (how that's different that listener Q&A is not clear, but what is clear is that one of these letters will allow for 10 mins of talking about SpinRite and how glad Gibson is he never sold it to Peter Norton). Go listen to the first 30 of these. It's pure gold, but recently, as Leo has tried to monetize this medium, it has become a drag. If iTunes ever reports back what we FF through then this podcast is done. Time to get your creative caps on and re-invent this podcast. This is not working.
