ExplicitHappy Holidays from the Selected Jerks | Sometimes things don't turn out quite like you planned. But as the saying goes, when podcasting hands you lemons, splice those lemons together with a goofy sound and hope for the best. This time around, we bring you our favorite holiday songs, and along the way we discuss bucket margaritas, the Star Trek war intensifies, and Kelly teaches Scott a new naughty word. So gather up the family, sit around the yule log, and try to follow along in the pamphlet you should have received by mail. We suggest you try making a drinking game out of this one. Happy holidays, from the Selected Jerks. | 12/22/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Music, life, and everything -- served with a side of ranch dippin' sauce! You owe it to yourself to jump on this podcast, kemosabe.
Come for the music, stay for the vodka
Anyone can put up a podcast but what makes one special are the intangibles. This one has that in spades. The act of talking music among three friends turns this into everything you would hope: the funny tangents it leads to, the surprises of how you think someone will respond, and the art of the well-placed low-brow joke. Basically, it's like listening in on your smart, funny friends who aren't afraid to rip on your music but let you in on their in-jokes.
These People Are Good (Good People)
I'm not the type of guy who writes reviews about podcasts, or gets all into technology, or signs up for social networking sites, or listens to a lot of music, or consumes "comedy" or "art" of any kind, or cooks much, or has any hobbies to speak of, or thinks drinking at work is inappropriate and should be reported (are you reading this, H. Penfolds? Mind your own business and stay in your cubicle!), or understands the science behind plumbing or copy machines or carpet, or remembers to use dryer sheets, or keeps promises, or writes reviews about podcasts, but I have to say, this podcast is FANTASTIC!
The concept is new. Each podcaster chooses a song to fit with that week's theme. (EX: "Song That Reminds Me of Summer," "Song That Makes Me Want to Eat A Lot of Peaches," etc.) But really, it's not about the songs. Forget what I said about the songs. I don't even think there are songs.
This podcast is about the people (3) doing it. They're funny. Naturally funny. Not funny like people who are paid to be funny. No, listening to SWSJ is like listening to real, regular, normal people. People like you and me! Unless you're wearing a hat right now. Because if you are, I have news for you, you aren't normal. No one wears a hat on the internet.
That's what I love about this podcast. It's normal like me, instead of normal like you.
Do you know what I mean?
