Shamanic Freedom Radio is presented by Opaquelens, an oddball otherworldly character who is anarchic in his podcast presentation style(s), whilst being proactive and spontaneous when it comes to ideas for each episode. The only thing consistent about this podcast is that it’s aimed towards those who have experienced a primal shamanic calling of their own, as oppose to those who study shamanism academically or anthropologically. ExplicitShamanic Freedom Radio Episode 75: Charlotte Walsh at Breaking Convention, Canterbury, April 2, 2011 | In this first episode in five months, Mr Lens explains that his life has gone through somewhat of an upheaval, and it took some re-inspiration to get back into podcasting. To begin with, Mr Lens talks about his recent victory against the system, Wikileaks, the royal wedding and the Osama Obama facade before playing a controversial anti royal wedding song which can be found here. After that, Mr Lens plays a talk by Charlotte Walsh recorded on April 2 at the Breaking Convention conference in the University of Kent at Canterbury. Many topics are addressed, but the crux of the argument she puts across is freedom of religion, thought and cognitive liberty under Article 9 of the European Convention, and how it could be used to undermine the UK Misuse of Drugs act 1971, as well as other similar European legislation. This is followed by Mr Lens's closing rant in which he talks of other gems from Breaking convention to come on future podcasts, and ends by playing a very emotional 10 minute talk by Charlie Veitch broadcast in the immediate aftermath of being detained for 24 hours for 'conspiracy to cause a nuisance' at the royal wedding. CleanShamanic Freedom Radio Episode 70: Bruce Damer at the October Gallery Part 1 | In this episode, Mr Lens plays part 1 of the talk by Bruce Damer entitled “Egos, Elves and Avatars - Tools to Forge or Forego a New Earth” at the October Gallery in Holborn, London on July 13 2010. Here is an excerpt from the press release: On this the 10th anniversary of the passing of Terence McKenna, we can now look back at his Copernican explorations of the mind with some hindsight and ask many questions: what where his voyages into deeper conscious states all about? do the machine elves really exist? how do his warnings about the current state of Humanity play out today? But perhaps the most powerful insight gleaned from McKenna's many journeys might be related to the more recent work of Eckhart Tolle and others on the Ego. McKenna and Tolle both describe mind states in which the Ego may be sensed briefly as a separate entity from oneself, providing momentary release and the sense of exquisite presence of the unencumbered self. For Tolle the recognition that the Ego is an inner actor with an agenda is the key to the transformation of the individual and of planetary civilization. McKenna clearly describes the Ego manifesting itself within elevated mental states, providing a possibly unique opportunity to understand and deal with it then and later in normal states of mind. If this is in fact a common experience, it could, in combination with regimens proposed by Tolle and others, give us a vital new tool to forge a New Earth. (Guest: Aeolus Kephas) | In this episode, Mr Lens rants about recent overzealous treatment he received from the security staff at Gatwick Airport, and points out that even if one does not fully buy into the 911 truthers, it still doesn’t stop the official story being full of holes. Rather than go into the ‘911 was an inside job’ routine, Mr Lens then comes up with an idea of what the countercultural community could do in the name of gathering outside the officially sanctioned criteria every September 11, and how it could be used for benevolent sorcery on one hand because it could be a networking day for alternative people, but also could be used to ‘lure’ riot police as to demonstrate to straight people how 911 has been turned into a day of tyranny by the authorities rather than a day of remembrance. Aeolus Kephas joins the chat, talking about how his view of the world was particularly apocalyptic leading up to 911, and that 911 was a positive day because it was a ‘tear in consensus reality’, but in the long term, consensus reality became more restricted. Aeolus also theorises that 911 may have been a ripple back in time from a more apocalyptic event in the future. Could this be because we all have half of our brains missing?! This segways nicely into the guest on this show, Tony Wright, co author of the book ‘Left in the dark’. He has a theory that our brains have become neurodegenerative since we left the tropical rainforests approximately 200,000 years ago, and that we may be starved of certain foods - flavonoids, endocrine disrupters, MAO inhibitors, certain fruits and nuts etc - which may have been responsible for making our human brains grow to the size they are today. His argument is that as a result of us severing the connection with a set of plants we may have symbiotically co evolved with, our brains have failsafed into one side dominance causing right or left handedness, left brain dominance, delusion and dysfunction. He is currently promoting the controversial theory to academics, who assume the human brain is in perfect working order, that in fact the brain is not fully functional, and that everything which has happened in the age of civilisation has happened in an era of brain dysfunctionality.The second part of this interview continues in the next episode. This experiment is to demonstrate that we now live in a time where you can run 3 operating systems on one computer and manipulate the same file in each, though it is buggy and clunky and somewhat in its Beta stage. In the time of hanging up the anthropomorphic personification of Opaquelens, Mr Lens had a bit of time to rediscover himself over the last three weeks. One of the themes of this podcast is Professor David Nutt. Mr Lens reads out an email from 10 Downing Street in response to an epetition to reinstate David Nutt. A bit later in the programme, Mr Lens plays a couple of interviews with Professor Nutt. During his break, Mr Lens guested on Carlita’s Sailing Beyond Knowledge podcast, where he spoke about his ‘second matrix in crowd’ gripe. He elaborates on this now to point out that back in the day when he knew nothing about the contemporary psychedelic community, he was having direct gnosis when it was legal to buy mushrooms in Camden, and if anything, the present psychedelic ‘in-crowd’ seem to be repeating a few usual human patterns rather than transcending them. ExplicitShamanicFreedomRadio 58: "If an awakening is meant to happen, it will." | In this episode which runs for the shorter time of three quarters of an hour, Mr Lens talks about how he saw Avatar 3D at the cinema, and perceives this film as a potential awakener despite its mainstream appeal. He analyses how the military industrial complex in this film is the villain against the shamanic tribal good guys. Also there have been reports of suicides going up as a result of this film, and depression increasing because people can’t go back to their old lives after being blown away by the beauty of that world. The conspiracist could view this as deliberately to disillusion you to death, but Mr Lens argues that dissilusionment is an important part of the journey, and that ‘awakeners’ such as this may be the NWO’s Achilles heel. Mr Lens also plugs a festival coming this summer. ExplicitShamanicFreedomRadio 56: Interview with Susun Weed | In this weeks installment, Mr Lens interviews ‘wisewoman’ Susun Weed, who talks about the relationship to the energy in plants and foods. She starts by mentioning the scientific tradition, which is to measure a person and administer drugs to those who don’t ‘measure up’, stating that in modern medicine there is no positive context for health other than the absence of illness. Then there is the ‘heroic’ tradition, which is alternative medicine based, but in which the body is seen to be full of toxines, and how one must detox in order to feel good. Then there is what she calls the ‘wisewoman’ tradition, which is synonymous with the shamanic tradition, in which one would see the whole of nature as being greater than the sum of its parts. Amongst other things, elderberries, stinging nettles and doc leaves are spoken about. Susun even mentions that she a member of the 500 club - in other words she has taken LSD over 500 times, but avoids ayahuasca because she doesn’t want to experience vomiting and diarrhoea! What to say, what not to say and how not to consent to statute law, even if it gets you banged up in a cell. This leads onto playing a 20 minute talk by a man known as the Anti Terrorist, who appears in his You Tube videos as a man in a balaclava and sunglasses with a disguised voice, whilst talking about how to deal with police and discussing very eloquently how we have become constitutional illiterates when knowing our rights with authority figures, and that if we did know our rights we would be able to rein in the tyranny we're facing these days. ExplicitShamanic Freedom Radio 52: Amsterdam Roamcast | In this episode, Mr Lens takes Shamanic Freedom Radio out of Britain for the first time by visiting Amsterdam. It all starts in Abraxas Coffeeshop on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal where Mr Lens chats to some English and French people. This is followed by Mr Lens going for a walk along the Damrak commenting on what he sees and capturing the sounds before going to another coffeeshop called The Rockery where he has a chat with probably the world’s most chilled out man, namely an Enlishman called Pearson. After the distinctive sound of a Dutch police siren, Mr Lens fails to get Anna to say anything in the mic, but doggedly continues by monologging from Damrak one more time. Finally he gets lucky when a Dutch man named Michael agrees to chat into the mic, thus giving this weeks podcast an authentic feel of the Netherlands. Back in the studio (back in London) Mr Lens is still sounding blown away by his experience in Amsterdam and it shows! ExplicitShamanic Freedom Radio 51: London UK Hemp Expo 2009 | In this first anniversary episode of Shamanic Freedom Radio, Mr Lens visits the UK Hemp Expo in Brick Lane, east London on 15/11/2009. He talks to Paul from Yorkshire Hemp, who specialise in hemp food to get you 'not high but highly healthy' and even tries out a hemp beer! He then speaks to the people at the 'Smuggling Vacation' stall, which is a comic book stall run by the editors of Weedworld magazine. Next he talks to Kieron from the Iolite stall who explains how the Iolite hand held vaporiser works. After a brief song interlude, the show is stolen by Emma and Jim 'Pinky' Starr from www.protestlondon.co.uk, a political activist couple campaigning for medical marijuana users in the UK so that people with certain conditions don't need to be prescribed drugs like morphine and other 'junky' inducing opiates or other toxic pharmaceuticals. Pinky has protested outside Downing Street and comments on this by saying "They can't say I haven't asked them nicely"! He then explains eloquently and in great detail his legal battles and previous problems and obstacles with the law, doctors, officials etc. After that, Mr Lens drifts over to Tom from seedsman.com who explains the legal ambiguity of seeds in Britain. Finally Mr Lens bumps into Max Freakout who makes a brief cameo appearance (small world!). Back in the studio Mr Lens hints at next weeks surprise roamcast and tells people to tune in because it will be a good one. The conversation focuses on the evolution of pirate radio from the 1960’s onwards and how it inspired the more underground internet radio stations of the present time, and the gulf between the ‘Simon Cowell vs John Peel' approaches to music and media. Raymond explains how SpiritPlants Radio came into being and evolved into the station it is these days. Love the voice
this guy is chill and hearing him takes me off into a world of comfort and wonder and I don't feel so alone, pluss i love the fact he uses the mandelbrot set which to me if the first thing that got my mind thinking psychodelicily not drugs. You dont have to enjoy drugs to enjoy the ideas in this show. I Don't use drugs or drink, and I gain a lot from this. I've never had a trip, I tried lsd and shrooms once , they did nothing, but this show does what i had hoped they would, open my mind and take me to knew ideas*some i agree with others i don't and some I am still deciding on). So check it out to open your third eye, hes very humble unlike some podcasters.
My Favorite Podcast
I can't say enough good things about Shamanic Freedom Radio. I love Mr. Lens' relaxed, conversational style and his unique, open-minded approach to shamanarchy. Many podcasters, teachers, lecturers, etc. get fairly authoritarian about the Truth and their claim to it; what I enjoy about Shamanic Freedom is the Freedom bit. Mr. Lens and his "roamcasts" explore contemporary shamanism, psychedelics, and awakenings without dogma (religion, academic, or otherwise), and he gives the listener permission to do the same. Anytime when I feel like I may be going bonkers or that I am isolated in an insane world, I can cuddle up with an episode of his show and remember how many other Others are out there connecting and journeying through this wild, wild life. Shamanic Freedom Radio is certainly best in show.
