Craig Wong, Shane Claiborne & Jimmy Dorrell: Why Ecclesiology Matters: CCDA 2007 Audio | What is the Church? Most American Christians seem inclined to describe the Church in terms of what it does or doesn't do, particularly in terms of growth or social impact. The question then becomes, "how is the Church distinct from any other human organization?" We Christians are quick to act, but do we know why, and to what end? If we are unclear about our identity and mission, we risk being at best charitable or even "radical" without bearing witness to anything different than what the world can already produce. Shane Claiborne, Dr. Jimmy Dorrell & Rev. Craig Wong: Why Ecclesiology Matters: CCDA 2006 Audio | What is the Church? Most Americans (Christan or not) seem inclined to describe the Church in terms of what it does or doesn't do, particularly in terms of growth and social impact. The question then becomes, "how is the Church distinct from any other human organization?" We Christians are quick to act but do we know why, and to what end? If we are unclear about our ecclesial identity and mission, we risk being at best charitable or even "radical" without bearing witness to anything different than what the world can already produce. Craig Wong (Grace Fellowship Community Church), Shane Claiborne (the Simple Way), and Jimmy Dorrell (The Church Under the Bridge) each represent very different congregations yet share a common insistence on taking theology of Church seriously. AWESOME!
Shane is a revolutionary in our age. A true man of God giving his life to share the gospel of Jesus Christ on the streets, where many don't want to go. Sure we all want to go be missionaries in Afgan., Iraq, India, Africa, South America....but there are so many lost and hurting souls in the US especially with the homeless. IT's life changing....and yeah not everyone is called to live with the homeless, but we are all called to give of ourselves to the poor, widows and the needy.....which also includes all of those who do not know the One true God. The Lord has given you a heart, seek Him & find where He has given you, your own Calcutta to pour out your life into.
This podcast highlights an astounding example
Shane Claiborne is a man with an amazing sense of spiritual vision and the joy in serving the world and living for God. This podcast is kinda quiet and sometimes hard to hear, but it's worth listening to and absorbing every word from the mouth of this extrodinary man.
Great!
A new voice for progressive Christians!
