ExplicitEpisode 35: Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That | For the episode of Silva & Gold this week, Allan of the Arctic requested we cover a leathery film about questioning one's sexuality, so we decided to make it a double feature as we are prone to do. First we discuss the 1964 film directed by Sidney J. Furie called The Leather Boys. Then we talk at length about a film we were worried about having too little to say at first. Ever wanted to see Franco Nero draw a chalk dick on the wall? Then Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 1982 film Querelle is for you. Nono wants to play dice.... ExplicitEpisode 34: Magnificent Bastard Chow Yun-Fat | This week we decided to pay homage to another magnificent bastard and cover a couple films starring Chow Yun-Fat! First we dive headfirst with two pistols in hand into an earlier John Woo film, A Better Tomorrow from 1986. Neither of us has seen it, and both of us have issues with a Woo staple The Killer, that most people adore. What will happen with this?? Then we cover a film from 1987 directed by Ringo Lam called Prison On Fire. How will it hold up to American prison films? Thank you all you magnificent miners! ExplicitEpisode 33: Mid-Century Teens | We moved to a simpler time this week and shifted our focus to mid-century America, a time of fast cars and awesome music, and.... high school kids getting into s**t? The first film we cover is Mischief from 1985. Say what you will about this film, but at the very least you can see a gloriously nekkid Kelly Preston! Next we cover a film that Loaf was embarrassed to say he had never seen... 1973's American Graffiti. Pre-Star Wars Lucas! Hope you enjoy this nostalgia fueled episode. ExplicitEpisode 32: Cinemasochism | Welcome one and all to an episode that did its best to kill the spirits of Loaf and Zom. Zom even found himself self-medicating beforehand. Cinemasochist Justin from the Freakin' Awesome Network picked two doozies for us this week. First we review a film with two of Zom's all time most hated actors: Reese Witherspoon and particularly Mark Wahlberg. That film is 1996's Fear. Zom's documentary of his viewing of this film could have been called Anger. Next we tackle a film that Loaf hated back in the day but had high hopes for again after learning more about Paul Verhoeven since then... Showgirls from 1995! Enjoy! er.... enjoy? ExplicitEpisode 31: Just Outta Jail | This week on Ye Olde Silva & Gold we cover a couple films about men adjusting to life after prison. They are quite different, but share some definite common themes. First we talk about a probably underseen Richard Farnsworth film from 1982 called The Grey Fox, a biopic that has Farnsworth playing The Gentlemen Bandit Bill Miner who has just been released from a 33 year prison term in 1903 only to discover a far different society. Next we jump into another probably underseen film from 1978 starring Dustin Hoffman in a rare tough guy role as Max Dembo in Straight Time. Busey, M. Emmitt Walsh, Cathy Bates, Harry Dean Stanton... this one's chock full of fun. First we review a 1990 film about Nazi punk Communist bikers and a couple geriatric law enforcement officials played by the legendary (in Mexico) Almada brothers!! Los Demonios del Desierto! ExplicitEpisode 29: More Silva, More Gold | We really decided to branch out this week and do another Henry Silva and another Dolph Lundgren movie. Silva & Gold double feature!! ... cree... cree.... The first film is one that is probably a bit lesser seen... and interesting and somewhat (totally) heavy handed Shoot from 1976, starring not only Henry Silva but also Cliff Robertson and Ernest Borgnine! Next we dive back into more Swedish-direct-to-video-yum with The Peacekeeper from 1997. Yes, you get Montel Williams teaming up with Lundgren, but you also get Michael Serrazin AND Roy Scheider! Joy! We f****n ramble on way too long as usual and make this another epic for no good reason. At least we talked about wrasslin' a lot again! Music this week: Ice Cube - When Will They Shoot? Birthday Party - Gold Blade Beach House - Silver Soul | 3/9/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 28: Stories of Strong Men | A Loaf lacking confidence and Honey Badger Zom roll in for another week of Silva & Gold, this time reviewing two documentary films graciously provided to us by some class dudes. We bring you a Stories of Strong Men double feature! First we tackle a documentary quite awhile in the making about strong man Stanless Steel, in Zachary Levy's Strongman. Not exactly what you think it might be. Next we jump head first into a subject we are both passionate about, that being professional wrestling, and we review the 2011 documentary Memphis Heat: The True Story of Memphis Wrasslin'. We had to be careful not to ramble too much here about just what we love about the business, but it was a lot of fun. Both filmmakers provided the screeners for us to review which we greatly appreciate. Please check out their websites by clicking on the posters at the bottom of this post! Next we travel to the other side of the globe and cover a pinky violence film in the sukeban series called Girl Boss Guerilla, or Sukeban Gerira, from 1975. <3 REIKO IKE <3 And voicemail and yammering and blah blah blah Music this week: Medusa - Black Hearted Woman Wanda Jackson - Fujiyama Mama The Slits - Typical Girls | 2/24/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

The first film we discuss is 1977's Greased Lightning starring Richard Pryor, Beau Bridges, and Pam Grier... a film about NASCAR's first black driver Wendell Scott. The second film is a possibly lesser known Jeff Bridges film from 1973 called The Last American Hero... based on the story of driver Junior Johnson. We ramble on more than usual about pretty much everything and draw this out way too long. Who really needs to hear about soup and catheters? Oh well, it's free so shut yer yap. ExplicitEpisode 25: Vile British Gangsters | Silva & Gold is back in your earholes this week with a cockney slant bringing you a British gangster double feature. The first film we cover was a bit difficult to track down for awhile. Richard Burton puts Liz to the side for a bit to transform himself into the violent Vic Dakin in 1971's Villain. Next we have a classic (?) film with a classic (.) Ben Kingsley performance, also starring Ray Winstone. 2000's Sexy Beast comes roaring in. Plus the usual rambling and an epic feedback from the Cinemasochist. This week we bring you the princess and the poo with two films featuring wrasslin and wrasslers that couldn't be more different. First we shoulder-tackle Jules Dassin's classic noir Night and the City from 1950 and get a glimpse of how it all used to be. Then we top rope splash 2000's Ready To Rumble with David Arquette, Scott Caan, and DDP, and get a glimpse of what may have gone wrong. We should know better. Trying to "rush" in order to let Zom get some much needed rest, we end up babbling for another 2.5 hours. Our loss is your .... gain? ExplicitEpisode 23: Golgos | Welcome one and all to another week and another episode of Silva & Gold from your favorite Southern foul-mouths Loaf and Zom! This week we cover a couple films based on a legendary Japanese manga: Golgo 13. The first film stars Ken Takakura and was made in 1973: Golgo 13 The Professional. Second we cover a Sonny Chiba appearance as the titular character in Golgo 13: The Kowloon Assignment. See these two do their best stone face with giant eyebrows possible. ExplicitEpisode 22: Magnificent Bastard Caine | Thanks go out this week to Brian from the Hammicus Podcast for programming our first official magnificent bastard double feature - two Michael Caine classics! The first is a 1966 film based on a stage play called Alfie. Lots of tail to be had including an almost young Shelley Winter! The second film combines soccer/football and Nazis, so it has to be good, right? Starring not only Caine but also Sylvester Stallone, Pele, and Max von Sydow... 1981's Escape to Victory And we talk about buttholes and laugh like children at fart noises. ExplicitEpisode 21: In The Navy | Zom and Loaf go out to sea... then on shore leave... in this week's episode as we travel back in time to 1973 to cover a couple navy-themed films. First is a lesser-known James Caan film called Cinderella Liberty. Staches, racial slurs, and natural t*****s make this one right at home on our show. Next is a classic Jack Nicholson role alongside Randy Quaid in The Last Detail. Battle of the staches with two cinema icons! And the usual yammering and stammering of course. ExplicitEpisode 20: Fate and Free Will | Loaf and Zom get a little (just barely) metaphysical this week for the New Year with a couple films exploring fate and free will. One is 1972's Slaughterhouse-Five directed by George Roy Hill. It is based on the book of the same name by Kurt Vonnegut about a time traveling average joe who simultaneously finds himself in the Battle of the Bulge, Dresden, Germany, and abducted by aliens in the far future. Next we cover a modern classic starring Bill Murray and directed by Harold Ramis, 1993's Groundhog Day. If you don't love Murray, we will hunt you down. Feedback us at 206-339-1600 or write us at silvagoldpodcast@gmail.com Happy new year, you magnificent bastards. ExplicitEpisode 19: Transgenderocity | This week on ye olde podcast we delve into a couple controversial films about strong transgender characters... one film considered a complete failure, the other a success. First we review the 1970 film Myra Breckenridge starring a smokin hot Raquel Welch based on the Gore Vidal book of the same name. This we read was considered one of the worst films ever made. Next up is one of Loaf's favorites (sorry to spoil his review early!), from 2001; Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Rock Forgot to mention feedback information on the show, so you can get it here I suppose 206-339-1600 or silvagoldpodcast@gmail.com Music this week: David Bowie - Lady Stardust The Breeders - Wicked Little Town The Kinks - Lola | 12/30/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 18: Xmas Gifts from Fifi | Not really a holiday episode so to speak, nor did Roger Ward give them to us for the holiday, but we bring you this week a couple picks from Fifi himself. First is a classic in the bikersploitation world... 1974's Stone! Then a threemileislandsploitation (?) type film from 1980 called The Chain Reaction. Dudes from The Road Warrior just hanging out making some crazy Ozsploitations it seems. Good times. Have a lovely holiday, miners. Love from the both of us. And thanks, Mr. Ward for programming the show this week. Songs this week: James Brown - Stone to the Bone Iggy Pop - Chains The Shins - Australia | 12/22/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 17: Deeper Shades of Comedy | Another week, another episode! I felt like we had a change of pace this week when we decided to bring a little less action and a little more comedy. We had to keep it a tad twisted, though right? So we bring you a couple darker comedies that are probably considered classics by many. First we get classy and review a 1944 Frank Capra film starring Cary Grant called Arsenic and Old Lace. Old ladies murdering men and a man who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt burying the bodies in the cellar? Hilarious! Next We review another Scorsese film, this time with Robert De Niro and Jerry Lewis from 1983 called The King of Comedy. Stalkery! Usual banter, a touch less racism than usual, but more screaming at feedback when Metal Mikey infuriates Zom. Music this week: Le Tigre - Dude Yr So Crazy! ExplicitEpisode 16: Nakey Rapey Hauer | Better late than never... maybe... is a siny new episode of Silva & Gold! This week Emily and Rachel from Girls on Film chose a couple Paul Verhoeven directed, Rutger Hauer starred films for us to poop all over as only we know how. The first is considered a Dutch classic from 1973, Turks Fruits. (Or Turkish Delights). Hauer loves showing his fruits. The second is from 1985... a medieval tale of religion and science and plague and choreographed rape... Flesh + Blood! ExplicitEpisode 15: Review and Review Again | Better late than never, Silva & Gold returns to kill you and kill you again lest we be killed This week, to borrow a term from the Gents, we throw a Double Deuce at you with our reviews of TWO (count em) South African martial arts flicks. Kill or Be Killed from 1980... Kill and Kill Again from 1981... So much karate, so little time. Three hours of rambling is just a little time, right? .....right? Some join us in our weekly train wreck, won't you? ExplicitEpisode 14: Not Quite Die Hard | We are back and almost rested from a fantastic Horrorhound Weekend with some beautiful people to bring you a couple flicks that would love to be Die Hard, but aren't qui The first is a Jim Wynorski joint starring Corey Haim and Alan Thicke (yes, you read that right) from 1996 called Demolition High. High school Die Hard! Oh baby.te there. The second is a doozy starring Jet Li and Jacky Cheung, directed by the rather prolific Jing Wong, from 1995 called High Risk or Meltdown or Shu dan long wei. I'm trying a different sound editing technique this week, in particular with the volume levels and filesize. Feedback is welcome and encouragedon how it sounds if at all different. 206-339-1600 or silvagoldpodcast@gmail.com Music this week: Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - The High Party Ladytron - High Rise Alan Thicke - Theme song to the gameshow Wizard of Odds | 11/19/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 13: The Silva and The Gold | Sorry for the Horrorhound delay! First we cover the film Kidnap (Fatevi vivi: la polizia non interverrà) from 1974 where Silva is trying as a detective along with a mafia Don to solve a child kidnapping case. We all know who the Silva is. Well, Gold can be many things, but we decided recently that Mr. Dolph Lundgren can be our Gold at least for the time being. We love some Dolph in all his forms, so we wanted to bring you a Silva and Dolph double feature to finally bring it all home. Next we review a more explosive Dolph flick from 1994 called Men of War. Ever wanted to see Catherine Bell get her face licked? This is your film. ExplicitEpisode 12: Reverend Scott’s Hump Days | Reverend Scott made us a sweet, sweet intro for our show months and months ago. And months and months ago, we promised the good Reverend that we would review a movie of his choice. Well, we finally get to it this week after much (unneeded) tracking down. YouTube can be very helpful sometimes. Reverend Scott chose the 1998 film Thursday starring Thomas Jane, Aaron Eckhart, and Paulina Porizkova. Never thought I'd see a non-porn movie with a character wearing another character's "juice" on his face. We decided to make it a hump days double feature and pair Thursday up with Big Wednesday from 1974. Jan Michael Vincent, Gary Busey, William Katt, surfing, John Milius... good sheeeeeeit. Somehow we manage to stretch a sleepy, low-energy show into three hours once again, so good luck to you all. We'll see you in the mines Feedback!: silvagoldpodcast@gmail.com 206-339-1600 Music this week: Billie Holliday - Yesterdays Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - All Tomorrow's Parties Yo La Tengo - Today is the Day | 11/5/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 11: Actiony Horrory | Welcome one and all to our Halloween episode! You won't find any Michael Myers or Jason Vorhees here... We give you a little Chuck Norris, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Z'Dar instead. Excited yet? The first film we cover is Silent Rage from 1982. See Chuck Norris. See Chuck Norris kick the p**s out of a scientifically created zombie type dude. Then We talk about the battle of the chins with Z'Dar and Campbell in Maniac Cop! Happy Halloween, one and all. We hope this Silva & Gold flavored "horror" movie double feature bring you many a pleasant nightmare! ExplicitEpisode 10: Role Changing Punks | This was originally going to be an old cars double feature, but Netflix lied to us about our first film reviewed, 2003's The Man of the Year. You don't get Robin Williams, but instead a dyed blonde Brazilian, some hot women, guns, and a pet pig named Bill. Next we did a very punk rock movie directed by Alex Cox from 1984.... Repo Man. At least we get the old cars in here, and any chance to see Harry Dean Stanton probably makes it worth the price of admission. Zom is drugged, Loaf stutters, it's fun for all! Feedback! ExplicitEpisode 9: Napier | This week we decided to pay homage to Mr. Charles Napier, who passed away about a week and a half ago on October 5, 2011. Napier was quite a well known character actor (and chin) in the genre community, acting in loads of television and films over the past 40 years. Blues Brothers, Rambo, Russ Meyer flicks... We chose a couple films at random that Napier starred in to review The first was a 1992 crime film directed by Umberto Lenzi called Hornsby e Rodriguez, or Mean Tricks. I feel like someone played a mean trick on us. Then we redeem ourselves by covering a Russ Meyer film from 1970 called Cherry, Harry, and Raquel, but probably just end up stuttering and talking about t**s through the whole review. As always things completely fall apart by the end and Loaf sings Cher. Apologies to Maurice for missing your email this week. We gotcha next week though Feedback us at 206-339-1600 or silvagoldpodcast@gmail.com Songs this week: Jesus & Mary Chain - Cherry Came Too Bauhaus - Harry Ray Charles - Mr. Charles Blues | 10/14/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 8: Surreal Racism | Every week on Silva & Gold, it seems some form of racism always appears in the films we watch and review. We figured we should just go ahead and cover a couple that tackle such themes head on by dressing people up in ridiculous costumes, throwing pies, inflating giant dragons, etc. Just your run of the mill, everyday spoofs! First we discuss Darktown Strutters from 1975. Imagine an episode of Fat Albert, only the problem the kids have is a Colonel Sanders look-alike villain who has pig henchmen and a giant KKK biker gang at his disposal. Next is a war/imperialism/USA/capitalism-protest film from 1969 called Mr. Freedom, a "a pro-American Right superhero who fights for God and country by beating, robbing, and killing anyone who looks like they might disagree with him." And by look, I'm sure that means "not white." We fall off the tracks perhaps more than usual this week, so get ready for a long mess. Hey, it's free! What can you do? Feedback to silvagoldpodcast@gmail.com or 206-339-1600! Kisses! ExplicitEpisode 7: WTF Japan? (presented by Outside the Cinema) | In a slight change of pace, this week the guys from Outside the Cinema chose two Japanese cyberpunk films that may just leave you scratching your head. The first is an 16mm film from 1988 called Tetsuo: The Iron Man. Yes, a giant drill dick does make an appearance. Then we try our damnedest to bring it all back around with a review of Rubber's Lover from 1996. The name pretty much says it all, although this is not a porn! Unless screaming counts into that determination. You can only imagine the tangents we go off on when the regular subject matter of the week is already out there. Zom may be coming to chop both Bill and Chris after this one. Enjoy! We love feedback: 206-339-1600 or silvagoldpodcast@gmail.com | 10/1/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 6: Paré | So there's this guy. Zom loves 'im. Loaf's never heard of 'im. His name's Paré. Michael Paré And he has rocketed into our collective psyche through a couple films by the name of Eddie and the Cruisers and Streets of Fire. Two films that we have tossed around for the past month or so that we figured we damn well should do official reviews on. Zom's a little sick... Loaf's a little...um...who knows what Loaf is. But at some point, smashing feces through a Play Doh fun factory is discussed. Kisses! | 9/24/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 5: Royalty | Once you get past all the ums we throw out there this week from our apparent lack of rest and possibly lack of preparation (heh), we might just interest you with a royal double feature... The movies themselves have no royalty so to speak, but rather are just named as such. Before he was Perseus, Harry Hamlin was in this movie called King of the Mountain from 1981. If Hamlin doesn't tickle your taint, what about an early 80s Dennis Hopper who may or may not have even read the script before acting in it. Or was he acting? Racing on Mullholland Drive... Atari playing... Styx and a leather Member's Only jacket... Then we cover a film that seems like it should be bigger than it ever was, King of the Gypsies from 1978, starring a very young Eric Roberts, Judd Hirsch, Susan Sarandon, Shelley Winters, and a woolly bearded, scene chewing Sterling Hayden. Oh, and our usual banter and off-topic ramblings... Stinky people and shotguns... it's what we're all about here. | 9/16/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 4: Redemption Through Exile | It's time once again for your favorite show and mine, Silva & Gold! This week we thought we were simply covering two films each with a group of four individuals wandering in a desert-like setting. What we discovered is that we had a double feature of two movies with characters earning some sort of redemption after a trial in the desert. The first is one of Lucio Fulci's few spaghetti westerns, the 1975 film Four of the Apocalypse starring Fabio Testi and Tomas Milian. Then we discuss Johnnie To's near-western from 2006 called Exiled. The Gentlemen's Guide to Midnight Cinema covered this many moons ago. Alas, I cannot remember if they covered Four of the Apocalypse. We also manage to talk about smelly balls, smelly breath, Fabio getting peed on, and Andre the Giant's peculiar sex habits. I'm confused too. | 9/10/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 3: I’m On A Train | Wow, three weeks in and we're already releasing epic episodes! Join us for our near three hour monster where we run the gamut from coal mining to New Jack wrestling at a s****y bar in Georgia. We also somehow manage to cover Martin Scorsese's Boxcar Bertha from 1972. He calls it his exploitation film. And just for good measure, we throw in a little bit of Hobo With A Shotgun from 2011. Spoiler alert.... one of us is pretty p****d about having to watch this one! So if you have a nice commute ahead of you, or need a sleeping aid, we're with you for hours on end doing what we do at least somewhat decently I suppose. We'd love to hear from you: feedback to silvagoldpodcast@gmail.com or voicemails to 206-339-1600. | 9/3/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 2: Redneck Lawmen | Time for a brand spankin new episode of Silva & Gold. This week Zom and I review two films loosely related by their inclusion of a Hollywood staple, the redneck lawman. First we discuss 1976's Jackson County Jail with Yvette Mimieux and Tommy Lee Jones, a cult film produced by Roger Corman. Next up is 1985's Final Justice with the legendary Joe Don Baker playing the rather comical Deputy Sheriff Thomas Jefferson Geronimo III. And it's pronounced HERonimo. Because he's Apache Yeah So join us on a magical journey into Southern justice. As always, feedback us at silvagoldpodcast@gmail.com or voicemails to 206-339-1600. | 8/27/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 1: American Idols | In our first real life episode, we tackle a couple flicks handed to us on a silver platter by our big brothers The Gentlemen's Guide to Midnite Cinema. These reviews are our little dedication to them for everything they do. Including the oily rubdowns. In an American Idols double feature, The Samurai gave us 1989's No Holds Barred starring Hulk Hogan, and Large William gave us 1974's The Yakuza starring Robert Mitchum. See the connection?? Eh? Eh??? Rip 'em, daddy-o! We also got a little feedback and yammer on as usual! I really don't want to go through the process of rerizing the animated gif here, so we'll just pretend it's oversizedness (I just made that word up) doesn't totally ruin the aesthetic of this post. | 8/20/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitEpisode 0: S**t Shooting | Here is our inaugural episode of Silva & Gold where Zom and I actually record something and talk for awhile on us and what we've been watching. This will not be our standard format - we're just working out the bugs! Come listen to us figure out what we are going to say on the air! Be amazed at Loaf's ignorance of an apparent quintessential Walter Hill film and cool/tough guy actor! I completely forgot in the episode to thank Reverend Scott for our sweet new intro. We have been working on this thing it feels like for so long that the intro didn't even feel new to us anymore. Damn my slow technical skills. | 8/15/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
