The Shroud “However, Peter jumped up and ran to the tomb to look. Stooping, he peered in and saw the empty linen wrappings; then he went home again, wondering what had happened.” Luke 24:12 “They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. God’s Call In the cross, we hear God’s call. “And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” John 12:32 II. God’s Compassion In the cross, we see God’s compassion. “Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.’ And Jesus replied, ‘I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.’” Luke 22:42-43 III. God’s Challenge In the cross, we sense God’s challenge. “Then he said to the crowd, ‘If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.’” Luke 9:23-24 Experience for Yourself the Mystery of the Cross “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” Acts 2:38 “What are you waiting for? CleanHow Much You Matter to God | Dr. Lester Spencer March 27, 2011 “HOW MUCH YOU MATTER TO GOD” 4 Ways We Judge Our Worth By appearance = How do I look? By achievement = What have I accomplished? By approval = How well am I liked? By affluence = What do I own? The greatest changes in our lives take place when we see ourselves as God sees us. “Jesus was going through the city of Jericho. A man was named Zacchaeus, who was the chief tax collector and he was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but he was too short to see above the crowd so he ran ahead to a place where Jesus would come and he climbed a sycamore tree so he could see Him.” Luke 19:1-4 (NC) 1. NO MATTER HOW INSIGNIFICANT I FEEL, Jesus notices me. “When Jesus got to the tree, He looked up…” Luke 19:5 (Mes) “…God never overlooks a single sparrow. And He pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail – even numbering the hairs on your head!” Luke 12:6-7 (Mes) 2. NO MATTER WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT ME, Jesus affirms me. “…Jesus looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name ‘Zacchaeus! He said.” Luke 19:5b (LB) “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Eph 2:10 (NLT) “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.” Ps 27:10 (NLT) 3. NO MATTER WHAT I’VE DONE, Jesus wants me. “…He said, ‘Come down quickly! For I am going to be a guest in your home today!’” Luke 19:5c (LB) “All the people saw this and began to complain, ‘Jesus is staying with a sinner!’” Luke 19:7 (NCV) “Jesus said, ‘those the Father has given Me will come to Me, and I will never reject them.’” John 8:37 (NLT) HOW SHOULD I RESPOND TO JESUS? “So he came down at once and received Him with joy.” Luke 19:8 (NAB) THE RESULT “Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, ‘I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I’ve cheated anyone, I’ll give them back four times the amount.’ Jesus responded, ‘Salvation has come to this home today!’” Luke 19:8-9 (NCV) | 3/27/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanMinistering Like Jesus | Contemporary Worship Service March 20, 2011 Message Notes – Dr. Alfred Kalembo Ministering Like Jesus Mark 10:46-52 46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. 51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” 52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. 1. Jesus expressed PERSONAL INTEREST in Bartimaeus, a blind beggar. “And Jesus stopped and said ‘Call him’.” Verse 49. 2. Jesus ALLOWED Bartimaeus, a blind beggar to DEFINE his need. “And Jesus said to him, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’” Verse 51. 3. Jesus RESPONDED to Bartimaeus, a blind beggar’s need. “And Jesus said to him, ‘Go your way, your faith has made you well.’” Verse 52. | 3/20/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Caesar or Christ? “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.” Matt 5:11 2. Suffer for the cause “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matt 5:12 3. The Secret Church (Persecuted and Underground) “Women received back their dead, raised to life again. There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection. Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated—the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground.” Heb 11:35-38 4. “Persecuted, but not abandoned” “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” Rom 12:14 “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted…” 2 Tim 3:12 “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Cor 4:8-9 | 3/13/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanHERE AM I, SEND ME | Rev. Vaughn Stafford January 2, 2011 HERE AM I, SEND ME 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” | 1/2/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanADVENT CONSPIRACY RELOADED PART 4 | Dr. Lester Spencer December 19, 2010 ADVENT CONSPIRACY RELOADED PART 4 – “Enter the Story” “All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call Him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).” Is 7:14 1. The Story God is Telling “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on His shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of His ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!” Is 9:6-7 2. Their Stories Impact Our Story “‘And she will have a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.’ All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” Matt 1:21-23 3. So, Enter the Story “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation…” Col 1:15 “For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.” Col 1:19-20 “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. CleanADVENT CONSPIRACY RELOADED PART 2 | Dr. Lester Spencer December 5, 2010 ADVENT CONSPIRACY RELOADED PART 2 – “Live Simply So Others Can Simply Live” “Mary responded, ‘Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me. He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear him. His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones. He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands.’” Luke 1:46-53 “Live simply and free your resources for things that truly matter.” Paul’s Wise Advice 1. Live Simply – Be Wise “Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.” 1 Tim 6:6-8 2. Live Simply – Watch Out for the Love of Stuff “But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” 1 Tim 6:9-10 3. Live Simply – So Others Can Simply Live “Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.” 1 Tim 6:17-18 | 12/5/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

It’s Jesus’ Birthday! (The Wise Men and the Shepherds got it!) “Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking,’ Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.’” Matt 2:1-2 2. What would Jesus want for his birthday? “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matt 5:16 “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Matt 6:21 “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. Does God desire to speak to you? “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jer 33:3 “This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’” Zech 13:9 II. Do you desire to hear from Him? Are you listening? Why should I listen to God? “For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.” John 17:8 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13 “Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: ‘This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!’” Mark 9:7 “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1 III. Serve like Christ. “’Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?’ Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. CleanDo You Love Me? | Rev. Vaughn Stafford recorded live at St. James United Methodist Church's 9:30am Contemporary Worship on September 5, 2010. John 21:1-17 (New International Version) 1Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias.[a] It happened this way: 2Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3"I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. 4Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. 5He called out to them, "Friends, haven't you any fish?" "No," they answered. 6He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. 7Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, "It is the Lord," he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. 8The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.[b] 9When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread. 10Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught." 11Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. 13Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 14This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead. 15When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs." 16Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep." 17 The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep. | 9/5/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanNot Yet Enough Light | Vaughn explains that we should get out of our own way and let God's Light shine through Rev. Vaughn Stafford recorded live at St. James United Methodist Church's 11:00am Contemporary Worship on December 27, 2009. Brothers and Sisters in Christ, This is the covenant service and prayer we shared on December 27th in contemporary worship. Many of you have called and e-mailed requesting a copy. I encourage each of you to print it, sign it and put it in a place that will remind you of the covenant between you and God. I know God will be faithful to His promises. My prayer is that we will be as well in 2010. In Christ, Vaughn WESLEY'S COVENANT SERVICE INVITATION: We are called to commit ourselves to Christ as his servants and to give ourselves to him, that we may belong to Him. Christ has many services to be done. Some are more easy and honorable, others are more difficult and disgraceful. Some are suitable to our inclinations and interests, others are contrary to both. In some we may please Christ and please ourselves, but then there are other works where we cannot please Christ except by denying ourselves. It is necessary, therefore, that we consider what it means to be a servant of Christ. Christ will be the Savior of none but his servants. He is the source of all salvation to those who obey. Christ will have no servants except by consent; Christ will not accept anything except full consent to all that he requires. Christ will be all in all, or he will be nothing and we confirm this by a holy covenant. A covenant in Biblical times was...walking through the split lamb (passover) Let us, therefore, go through Christ, & pray: Invitation to pray on bended knee as able God you know our hearts and the many things that seek to crowd you out of your proper first place in our lives. We have allowed many idols to reign supreme and/or hold us hostage. Today, we ask you to reestablish your kingdom on earth and let it begin with your rightful reigning in our hearts. Now I ask you to repeat this covenant prayer after me Lord, let me be your servant...under your command...I will no longer be my own...I will give up myself...to your will in all things...I will be satisfied that you...will give me my place and work...Lord, make me what you will...I put myself fully into your hands... put me to doing...put me to suffering...let me be employed for you...or laid aside for you...let me be full...let me be empty...let me have all things...let me have nothing...I freely and with a willing heart...give it all to your pleasure and disposal...AMEN! | 12/27/09 | Free | View In iTunes |
