Great podcast - great eclectic mix of music, with just enough info between songs
The Smithsonian Folkways catalog has incredible depth and breadth - not many labels could be the subject of an hourly, weekly show and hold up...
Really Really Great Show
This show is like everything about why you listen to public radio and everything you love about pandora. Aaron Henkin, a great producer from Baltimore's WYPR station has put together this awesome show that mixes contemporary modern style, and the reason why so many younger listeners are downloading npr podcasts like crazy, and scrambles it over the most eclectic collection of sound and music recordings you could find. Really something to check out and learn more about if you have not seen it yet. Good job Aaron, keep up the good work. Ryan Patterson
Excellent for fans of folk, blues and world music.
I learned a lot about the Folkways Collection from the excellent 24 episode documentary podcast also on iTunes. I look forward to Tapestry of the Times podcasts. I always find something powerful and timeless in these recordings. I especially like the blues and folk songs. The host does a great job of presenting the material from the Folkways Collection, reminding us how much the music is relevant now as it was then.
