| 3 | VideoGB attorney, Kirk Antoni's forceful remarks at Hawksbill Creek Agreement Forum | Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - September 15th, 2011 the Celebrate Freeport Committee hosted an informative 3-hour forum on the Hawksbill Creek Agreement at the Foster B. Pestaina Center, Christ the King Church Auditorium to a highly responsive audience. The panel of presenters comprised of former general counsel of the Grand Bahama Port Authority Group of Companies, Carey Leonard; Grand Bahama Chamber president, Peter Turnquest; economist Hank Ferguson, and the forum was lead by committee chairman, Rev. Eddie Victor. The panelists delivered their presentations and afterwards the audience was engaged in an animated discussion on the issues facing Freeport; its past, present, and future. TheBahamasWeekly.com is pleased to present herewith this first of a series of video segments from the forum. This first excerpt features Grand Bahama attorney Kirk Antoni’s contribution made during the audience participation portion of the symposium. This segment was chosen as the lead-off video because in 10 minutes, Mr. Antoni, a 48 year resident of Grand Bahama Island, who knew Wallace Groves personally, presents a captivating history of Freeport, from the vision of Wallace Groves on up to today. Mr. Antoni’s rhetorical question was, how do we move Freeport forward? He answers it in this way: 1. Resolve the ownership issue at the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) 2. A new chairman at GBPA with vision needs to be appointed and that individual needs to be backed with funding 3. Develop the Air Sea Business Center 4. Break the monopolies in Freeport of FOCOL and Grand Bahama Power 5. Lower the cost of power from $.41 per kilowatt hour to something reasonable, $.15 to $.20. Mr. Antoni emphatically states that “we can not attract major investment here and tell them that their power costs are going to be $.41 per kilowatt hour” 6. Freeport needs to be marketed to the world; Antoni, says that in his 48 years in Freeport that it has never been marketed to the world and further, that “all our governments look at Freeport as a lost child.” 7. We have to lower airport costs. 8. We must be able to ensure major investors that this is the place to invest. Be sure to take the time out to watch and learn from this informative video segment from the Celebrate Freeport Committee’s forum on the Hawksbill Creek Agreement. ‘Like’ The Bahamas Weekly on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our Weekly News Updates to keep abreast of subsequent videos from this fascinating forum. | 9/16/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

BIFF provides premieres of crowd-pleasers and art house cinema. These are films that are thought provoking and expand our cine-literate culture. | 44 | VideoRoss University VP Business Planning and Development announces 3 year lease extention in Freeport | Freeport, Bahamas - The Bahamas Weekly presents an update on the Ross University Bahamas clinical site by way of an interview with Mr. Sandi Cutler, Vice President of Business Planning and Development, Ross University recorded on April 23rd, 2010. In this exclusive video interview Mr. Cutler shares information in regard to recent concerns expressed in the local media and reaffirms Ross University's commitment to remain in The Bahamas. Cutler also announced a 3-year extension on their lease at Seahorse Plaza. "We are not closing. We have a program we are continuing here. It is our Medical Education program. It is very successful. It is a program for people who are planning to attend Ross. It is a review and preparatory program. It's been here for a couple semesters and we will be adding to its enrollment." "Ross is going to stay open. We are staying here and we will have some faculty and staff here continuously. Ross is not closing, it is just that we've taken a piece of the program and shifted it back to Dominica until we get the California approval." "We've just agreed to a three-year extension in the Seahorse Plaza. We did that because when we originally did the lease it was more short-term because we thought we might be building that new campus more quickly. Now that we've had to delay things a little bit it just made sense given everything we've invested in here, to extend the lease here, and then to continue in the long-term to build out at our campus as we've always planned. Ross University was founded in 1978 and is a provider of medical and veterinary education offering doctor of medicine and doctor of veterinary medicine degree programs. The School of Medicine is located in Dominica, West Indies, and the Freeport, Grand Bahama campus recently opened in January 2009. The School of Veterinary Medicine is located in St. Kitts. Ross University's administrative offices are located in North Brunswick, NJ. | 49 | VideoRay Ellin Live at NYC Comedy Club Bahamas | Freeport, Grand Bahama Island – The 2nd Annual NYC Comedy Club event commenced Friday March 12th 2010 at The Treasure Bay Casino to a standing room only crowd. Midway through the show comedian Ray Ellin came on stage to do his routine, it was at this point during the show that uncontrollable bouts of spontaneous laughter erupted far beyond even what Ray anticipated as he proceeded to concoct an impromptu routine that featured the duo of twin brothers who are , amongst other things, the principals behind the proposed Yellowfin Tuna Net Fishing venture on Grand Bahama Island (The Bahamas Pelagic Aquaculture Tuna Fishing Program). Unbeknownst to Ray, he haphazardly connected with the audience with irony and humor that resounded across the length and breadth of this island and beyond. In his routine, Ray probed the twin brothers with questions like: What kind of work do you do? Are you some kind of mobsters? On and on he went amidst uncontrollable laughter so unfathomable to him that he finally bellowed: WILL SOME ONE TELL ME WHAT’S GOING ON? Admittedly, this video has been one of the most requested of our almost 300 video productions library; we are pleased to finally have it ready for your entertainment. | 51 | Video(VIDEO) The Bahamas National Trust’s Tuna Net Fishing Town Meeting | Grand Bahama Island – The Bahamas Weekly is pleased to present herewith, video coverage of The Bahamas National Trust’s Tuna Net Fishing Town Meeting, which took place Monday March 1st 2010. The focus of this standing room only debate could arguably be described as the most heated topic surrounding the preservation of our marine heritage since long line fishing. The Bahamas Pelagic Aquaculture Tuna Fishing Program as proposed by David and Paul Mellor has sparked vigorous debate over the last couple of weeks. The Mellors claim of sustainability and conservation in the harvest and farming of tuna in growing cages in the ocean is an emotionally charged topic throughout the international maritime community and was vigorously debated. This town meeting moderated by Dr. Pamela Etuk was much anticipated as both panelists and audience alike openly discussed the merits of purse seine netting and its ecological and economic affects on our tourism based archipelago nation. The audience included representatives from The Billfish Foundation, other Bahamian Aquaculture programs, marine biologists, sport fisherman, tour operators, taxi drivers, divers and a multitude of concerned citizens from various walks of life. Although the government has stated that they are not minded to permit the use of purse seine or net fishing within the waters of The Bahamas, the Mellors persist in presenting their unpopular venture even in the face of overwhelming global contempt. This dynamic video presentation has been divided into two parts. Part 1 is 54 minutes and Part 2 is 5 minutes and contains a contribution by Grand Bahamian Terry Pace. | 3/2/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The exhibition gives the descendants of that old eastern settlement a quilt with enough warmth to cover their expansive histories as we journey from New Freetown, to Infantview cemetery to Water Cay and on to Sweeting's Cay; where we spoke with healthy 104 years old resident; Firstina Baillou.A project of the Grand Bahama Heritage Foundation, the exhibition is the result of a seven-month artistic process, historical documentation and cinematic recording of the history of the old Freetown by the inhabitants of new Freetown. Once located by the coast, all that is left of old Freetown is a cemetery called Infantview for its first inhabitant – a baby – and the ruins of an old house. The settlement was one of the first known communities of freed slaves on the island.Old Freetown is one of the oldest freed slaves settlements on Grand Bahama Island. After the Grand Bahama Port Authority restructured the area in the 1960's, the people of Old Freetown moved to New Freetown. Old Freetown still holds remnants of the foundation stones of some of the earliest homes on Grand Bahama Island. In 2007, in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade act, The Grand Bahama Heritage Foundation presented an art Exhibition entitled Freedom Call . "As we were doing our research, we found it extremely difficult to obtain written information about Old Freetown , we then made the decision that we would begin our exploration and research in Old Freetown." | 11/4/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

| 94 | VideoSpring break 2009 | Grand Bahama Island - Get a glimpse into Spring Break in Freeport, Grand Bahama on a wild night in March with more than 2000 students on Island via such companies as Xtreme Trips, Student City, and Spring Break Celebrity Entertainment with Inertia Tours. The travel company spokespersons seen in this video explain why they chose The Bahamas for their student travel destination. After a hiatus from hurricanes of 2004, and reflecting back on a time when 2000 students was nothing compared to the numbers that used to grace the island, it is good to have the revenue back on Grand Bahama even for a short time out of the year. In this video you will hear from Karen Ferguson-Bain, Production Coordinator of Port Lucaya Marketplace who explains how valuable Spring Break students are to the local economy and how her company prepared to receive the student travelers. Their business offers other activities off of the Marketplace venue like beach parties and snorkeling and water activities. Also seen is Britton Clarke, owner of Sparky's Bar who interestingly ended up on Grand Bahama via her previous career with the company Spring Break Travel, which in her last year of working with them carried over 12,000 students to Grand Bahama. Port Lucaya Marketplace and Count Basie Square offers a unique destination for Spring Breakers as it provides a one stop shop for all the students, no matter which travel company they've arrived with, to party and socialize in one location. By 11pm most Spring Breakers are at the Port Lucaya square. It offers plenty of room for them to dance together, with many bars and restaurants to choose from. Host hotels are also situated close by so travel by car is most often not necessary. Security at Port Lucaya is top notch, and the local police department has an office adjacent the Marketplace. Another venue seen in this video is The Prop Club which is located on the Westin and Sheraton property at Our Lucaya Resort. Jorge Brouwer, owner of Xtreme Trips explains how he approached Sheraton to receive his students travelers this year, and how he anticipates numbers growing in 2010. A local food vendor on the square shares all the varied eats available to the students, from Bahamian favourites like cracked conch, conch salad, to American staples like burgers and hotdogs. Also seen in this video is Burns Taylor, a Grand Bahamian college student who also enjoys Spring Break at home. The evening always ends out at Bahama Mamas a little bar that is always hopping into the wee hours. www.Xtremetrips.com www.StudentCity.com www.portlucayamarketplace.com | 5/21/09 | Free | View In iTunes |
