Are the dead taking over Facebook?
On this episode I talk with Carl Öhman, a doctoral candidate at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. His research looks at the ethical and political challenges that arise from the growing volume of ‘digital human remains’ – data left by deceased users – on the internet. This includes questions of about what happens to our data when we die, what should we do with dead people's data? And who should decide?

Come back
I’m hopeful this will continue as a podcast because we need to normalize this taboo topic. The ideas and people interviewed as well as the host are excellent.
My new favorite podcast
After my husband was diagnosed with a fatal degenerative Nuerological disease I stepped into multiple new roles which are in sync with the topics covered by this podcast. The Death Diaries format, topics and guests are not just informative; this series is a balm to my soul as I move towards the inevitable outcome of my husbands illness
It's a family show!
I finished listening to all of the currently available episodes this weekend. My son (who is 8 and loves Radiolab and This Is Love and a variety of other non-kid podcasts) and I had a fantastic conversation about my headstone (which I will not actually have, we decided) after listening to the episode with Paul Williams. Emmett was duly fascinated by the double lightning strike and the ability for families to do the refilling of the grave rather than a backhoe. He’s bummed that I don’t plan to have my body placed, in its entirety, into the ground…but he seems to have moved on. 😊
