Top-Notch movie podcast

The Hollywood Saloon is a Top-Notch movie podcast. They do know their stuff, and their podcasts are well-researched and entertaining listens. The production values are quite high, which help make this podcast better than the rest - not just two talking heads that sound like NPR. Their opinions on the state of movies and the business, and what is and isn't great coming out in Hollywood are excellent. If you haven't listened to an episode yet, start with Apocalypse Hollywood. That was where I came in and I have been hooked since. Andy and John have something special here, can't recommend this show anymore if I tried. Do yourself a favor and mosey on into The Hollywood Saloon.

Awesome Film Discussion

I've sampled a fair number of podcasts and I have to say that the Hollywood Saloon stands above the rest. You simply don't get film discussion this focused, in-depth, and irreverent in any other form. John and Andy typically don't simply review the latest movies on their show. Instead they dive into entire film histories and subcultures, taking on such broad subjects as the films of David Fincher, the James Bond series, and a very thorough compilation of the Star Wars saga on home video (covering dozens of editions/formats). If you're a budding film geek, strap yourself in and subscribe already!

Love movies? Come on in to the saloon...

There are a lot of movie podcasts, but none quite like this. This podcast is like sitting around your favorite watering hole after taking in a late night showing. The talk will flow in and out of realted threads. Talk of one director will lead to another...and something in this movie will remind you of something that happened in another and they will be compared accordingly. Andy and John love and appreciate film. They do their research and present it in a high-quality format that is educational, insighful and entertaining. If you are looking for review podcasts, this is probably not the place you are looking for (though there are a few of those in the archiveves as well) and there are plenty around at other sites. If you want to get a new take on films old and new, and maybe learn a new way to appeciate films and have a few laughs along the way, step through the swinging doors of THS.
