ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 034 - The Loond & Riquelme Show | It’s guest host time again. Jibbies had to take care of a kiddo emergency on the home front and couldn’t be on this week’s episode. Filling in is Loond’s good buddy Mr. Chris Riquelme. The guys discuss the new French band called Abrahma that has taken a deserving spot on the Small Stone roster. From there the conversation goes into the importance or lack of as far as song lyrics go these days. The guys are elated over the art work for the upcoming Testament record and Loond is jazzed that Juan Croucier is back in the fold with Ratt. The guys also talk about the upcoming record from Kreator. L&R round out the show with talk of the Houston music scene, the new Dynamo stadium, and the Black Sabbath drummer saga. **Note** - since the recording of this episode it has been made public info that Tommy Clufetos is manning the drum throne for the upcoming Sabbath shows. ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show – Episode 032 – Great Music and the Golden Globs | It’s getting near summer time and both the tours and releases are ramping up. Throw in some badass music that’s already out there but might not be as broadly appreciated as it should be, and you’ve got one hell of a metallic brew. Jibbies & Loond start off by previewing the metal highlights of this year’s Chaos in Tejas fest and getting amped for the Southern Lord Summer Tour. Delight is also shared at the idea of both Down and Saint Vitus hitting the road. Great music on their decks comes from Scotland, Sheffield, Michigan, Finland, and NYC among others. Onto each steel-forged, titanium-bonded, tungsten carbide tipped, glorious metal edifice, however, a little glop must fall. The Golden Globs awards are now about as hard and heavy as the flaky substance they’re named after. J&L diagnose the situation fully before dropping the blade on this once-proud institution. ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show – Episode 031 – The Future, The Past, And Now | Pulling out of the rock immersion camp that is SXSW, Jibbies & Loond recalibrate their gauges and figure out what the hell else has been going on the world of metal. Jibbies starts off with his assessment of Mark Morton and Dez Fafara’s Born Of The Storm project before digging into Overkill’s ‘The Electric Age’ and (to his own surprise) finding hope in Soulfly’s ‘Enslaved.’ The duo share some geeking out over the splendor of the Small Stone Recordings Jukeboxxx (now on Bandcamp) before Loond takes control for blasts from the past by Uncle Slam (‘Say Uncle’) and Primal Scream (no, not the Brit rockers, the NYC thrashers). Other news and nuggets of knowledge and mirth are passed on along the way, so have a listen below and fill yourself up with metal goodness. ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 029 - SXSW Metal Guide | Alright, you've procrastinated. SXSW is upon us and you still don't know where the best metal is. That's okay. We're all sinners. For instance, by the time this episode goes out it wll technically be Tuesday. But, my cause was righteous; checking out Venice, California's The Shrine. More on them later. Back to the matter at hand. Give this cast a listen and you'll not only know who's playing where and when, but you'll also get some guidance regarding where best to spend your time. That's lots of choices out there: The Thrasher/Converse Deathmatch, the Metal Sucks showcase, the Metal Blade showcase, Small Stone, Brooklyn Vegan, Cvlt Nation, Tee Pee, Metal Alliance, Volcom, and on, and on, and on. Lots of it's happening at the same time. But don't worry, we've figured it out for you. Have a listen. And see you in Austin. [Back to The Shrine for a moment. They somehow escaped both Loond's and my attention in getting prepped for the festival this year. Having freshly witnessed them, I can say that they definitely should be checked out. They are very, very good (stoner boogie shredding anyone?). And will be playing one of the Trasher shows on Wednesday and the Tee Pee Records showcase on Friday, Mar. 16. Live footage going up as soon as my brain and fingers allow.] Horns Up! - J&L [Potentially NSFW] Follow Jibbies on Twitter @MetalJibbies This episode and all previous episodes available on iTunes Music featured this episode: High On Fire - 'Hung, Drawn, and Quartered' Cancer Bats - 'Sorceress' Lo Pan - 'El Dorado' DevilDriver - 'Dead To Rights' Coliseum - 'Blilnd In One Eye' Valient Thorr - 'Red Flag' The Haunted - 'Trenches' The Sword - 'Iron Swan' Orange Goblin - 'Solarisphere' | 3/12/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 028 - Its My Metal Opinion | Welcome one and all to our little Metal show. This episode proves to be one of the duo’s longest, loudest, raucous, and most passionate exchanges thus far. The boys discuss their most recent outings in terms of live music. Jibbies gives his run down of Machine Head at The HOB and uber-excited about witnessing the latest incarnation of Faster Pussycat. Loond talks us through his witnessing of the mighty Goatwhore and some all out cow-punk-rock ’n roll with The Spittin Cobras and The Supersuckers. The latest on the Sabbath reunion is discussed and Jibbies drops some major news of a spectacle due to be called Ozzy And Friends that will be touring in place of Sabbath. It will be comprised of Ozzy, Geezer, Zakk Wylde, and a yet un-announced drummer or drummers. Fancy that! SmallStone Records’ new batch of signees is heralded. Loond gets very passionate and outspoken about his feelings on Dez bringing back Coal Chamber and three ex-Trouble members forming and touring as The Skull. Loond fills us in on The Melvins and their alter-ego called Melvins Light. ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 027 - Goatwhore vs. Faster Pussycat | Your intrepid duo do their best to sift through the Bill Ward/Sharon Osbourne b******t (Ward wins), before eventually finding a nice palate cleanser in welcoming Jesse Leach back to Killswitch Engage. Then, as J&L are going through some of their favorite recent and upcoming releases--including Dwellers’ ‘Good Morning Harakiri,’ out on Small Stone, and recent SS-signees Supermachine’s ‘Harder Than Soft’ EP--the showdown erupts: in one corner, Loond and Goatwhore, in the other Jibbies and Faster Pussycat. *Ding ding!* Seems like a mismatch, right? Well listen on dear reader! The battle eventually winds down and the duo use whatever energy is left discussing some of the US summer metal tours other than Mayhem and marveling at the glory of Hellfest 2012. ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 020 - Coast To Coast | Welcome back to another episode of J&L. Loond brings us a few notable new bands/albums, starting with the incredible self titled debut from Norway ’s Kvelertak. These guys are a refreshing mixture of Rock, Metal, and Punk. The songs are super upbeat and really fun. All their lyrics are in Norwegian, but it really doesn’t matter because I’d be really impressed if you know Norwegian and can understand anything this guy is gargling glass about. Continuing in Scandinavia, Loond highlights Denmark ’s Hatesphere and their new record entitled “The Great Bludgeoning”. This band has been around for some time and are a formidable and ferocious modern Thrash machine. Jibbies attends the Ozzy Osbourne book signing event in North Houston and gets to interview many an interesting character at said event. Check out his video interview footage at gonzogeek.com. Loond then starts up a short history lesson on the Punk/Hardcore scenes of the East and West coasts and the influence of Metal on those scenes. Take a trip down memory lane and reminisce with us as we talk about Token Entry, Leeway, RKL, Agent Orange, and many more great bands from either coast from back in the day. This conversation provides just the right spring board to talk about the brand new record by Agnostic Front called "My Life My Way" and to round out the show. ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 018 - Gordo The Guest Host | This week the J&L Show became the L&B Show as Jibbies was unavailable to join us due to being in Brazil for his day job. We hope you got in some tasty sights while you were there Jibbies…ha! Filling in for the absent Jibbies is local guitar hero (Neural Nectar, Supavillain, Jin Pei ) – Mr. Bobby “Gordo” Gordon. And so with a bottle of Wild Turkey and a couple of Optimator beers at hand, Loond and Gordo embark on a Metal journey of old and new. The two dive into a lengthy discussion about Anthrax and their new record – “Worship Music”. They wade through the sludge and muscular riffing that encompasses the mighty Black Tusk from Savannah , Georgia . The guys then gush geekishly about their admiration for skinsman extraordinaire John Tempesta and their excitement about seeing him play with Testament on the upcoming tour. A call to the Coroner is made as they talk about the reunion of the fantastic and ahead of their time Swiss band with the same moniker. An extremely obscure blast from the past in the form of Plaid Retina rounds out the show as Gordo explains the huge impact this band had and still has on his own guitar playing. A full-metal time is had by one and all, the only tiny downside being getting pan-handled by some chick for $1 on behalf of one of the local openers. Talk about harshing your buzz….I mean can’t you tell that we’re standing here having fun, rocking out? And what’s with the snarky comment when we say no? Hopefully this isn’t going to become a new cross-venue trend. Once J&L detail the show itself, they turn toward the future, pontificating on the ins-and-outs of Anthrax and Testament ‘co-headlining’ their upcoming tour and attempting to answer the question, “Is it really a Dead Horse reunion without Michael Haaga participating?” [Ed. ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 013 - Nervecell interview | Our dynamic duo have a special treat for you this week, a full-length in depth interview wth Barney Ribeiro of Dubai's premiere death metal band Nervecell. The band released their second CD in Europe, 'Psychogenocide,' in May and describe themselves (accurately) as likeable to fans of Morbid Angel, Death, and Testament. A US tour hasn't been mapped out quite yet, but Barney, a true metal fan as well as musician, is obviously ready to get down to it. Then again, as J&L note prior to the interview, a lot of far more established bands seem to make just one pass across the US and call it a tour these days. And much to J&L's chagrin the one-way trip more often than not cuts across the northern side of the continent instead of the southern. Your metal friends also settle the 'great/sucks' debate surrounding Mastodon's new single 'Black Tongue,' fondly recall Killswitch Engage shows gone past, and laugh at the still-occuring conflation of The Sword and Sword (80s Canadian greats). The duo’s differences in taste are reflected in Loond’s ineloquent geeking out over Possessed’s “Beyond The Gates & The Eyes Of Horror”, while Jibbies exclaims that he is un-moved by this particular blast from the past. ExplicitThe Jibbies & Loond Show - Episode 010 - Into the Arena, Feasting on Blood | Jibbies takes off for Vienna, Austria, to catch Red Fang, Earthship, Intronaut, and The Ocean in action. It seems too much time on an airplane sets him off though, as no sooner does he land than he launches into a near-rant about how Down will go down in history as Phil Anselmo's main band, not Pantera. Dude won't stop talking(!), next hitting on his fears regarding Ginger's departure from Michael Monroe's band before finally coming up for air and letting Loond have a go. Gates of Slumber and Blood Feast both get looked into, and then before you know it Loond heads to the airport, bound for Sonisphere Turkey. | 6/15/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
