26 episodes

This is The Lost in PreMed Podcast where we talk about everything from course work and GPA to the MCAT, volunteering, shadowing and anything else you may encounter on your premed journey.

I’ll talk about some of the experiences that I have had as a nontraditional student and I’ll also share some of the lessons that I have learned over the past 10 years, while working in exciting emergency medicine.

From time to time I like to bring in other premed undergrads, medical students, residents and even attendings and let them share their stories and insights that they have learned about the world of medicine.

I take all this, bundle it up and put it all in a nice little podcast, all in hopes of softening the masochism that is the journey to medical school.

    ...and NOBODY will stop me!

    ...and NOBODY will stop me!

A few episodes back I had talked about an experience I had during my 3rd year of medical school that really changed my mindset while going through clinicals.  This episode is going to expand on exactly what went through my mind while I was sitting on the subway and how the absolute worst increment of time during undergrad ended up getting through one of my toughest times in medical school.

Rough roads and difficult situations sometimes make you question if you have what it takes to climb that mountain that is ahead.  But, regardless of how arduous the journey, experiences of confirmation can give you the push that you need to keep climbing.  This is one of my stories and one of my experiences.

    Life in the Peds ER

    Life in the Peds ER

Snot, sutures and dirty diapers. Who in their right mind would sign up for such a thing?!?! Well...me!  I did. Because I know that I am going to have to deal with little ones and their germs for the rest of my career, I decided to take a Peds EM elective so that I could be more comfortable dealing with them as patients.  With 3 weeks already completed, I'll talk about some of the insights that I have gained, as well as some key pointers that I will be able to take with me in future rotations.

Great show! Premeds gotta hear this!

I first downloaded a random episode just to have something to listen to while studying and I really really liked it! I've listened to each and every episode and I can't wait for the next ones.

I think what I really like about each episode is that the host seems like a person that I can actually relate to. I'm not at the top of my class and I feel that sometimes I'll never get into medical school. After listening to the very first episode as well as the one with ZDoggMD, I felt so much better about being ME! I know that I can be a doctor and some day I will! I appreciate someone who is honest yet uplifting at the same time. I know there are only a handful of episodes out so far, but this show has HUGE potential!

Keep it up Will! Thank you!
