Podcast Description
Straight from the bottom of the map, we bring you a sporadic, disorganized, but mostly coherent discussion on music, television, film, and anything else that passes for popular culture and/or strikes our fancy. Recorded in New Orleans' Lower Garden District, independently produced, mediocre at best. Enjoy.

#010: Jazz Fest, Drug Tests, DJ Lethal | A lot has happened in the world since we last put out one of these here podcasts, and instead of trying to talk about everything, we come at you with a concise - dare I say organized - discussion about a few topics that struck our fancy over the last few weeks. We’ve got a very brief review of the 2010 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, some thoughts on the newest legal marijuana alternative and an impassioned plea for Lauryn Hill to put out another record. You want a diatribe about Graham Nash? Or drug tests? Or Limp Bizkit? Well you’re in luck, because we got that. Steely Dan? Check. The Huffington Post? Check. House of Pain, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Sugar Ray? All here, and more. Enjoy. Episode #010 | 5/21/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

#009: Taxes, Gratuity, Karaoke | Full disclosure here folks: one of us drank way too much before this week’s episode, and then that same person took a while to upload it to the internets. While this was recorded almost a week ago, as far as topoi goes, it doesn’t get much more timeless than making fun of Tea Party protests, complaining about gratuity, singing the praises of karaoke, and sharing stories about some of the weirder places you have woken up. It’s all here, with special guest appearances from Looking Glass, The Band, Sinead O’Connor and Steve Buscemi, just to name a few. Enjoy. Episode #009 | 4/21/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Best of The Matt & Jack Podvast, Volume 1 | Alternative Media Expo 2010 is blowing into New Orleans on April 17 and for the occasion we have assembled a little clip show filled with some of our favorite stories, conversations, zingers and freak-outs from the first eight episodes (and supplemented it with some fresh content about melodicas, kayaking, laser tag, The Eiffel Tower and Christina Applegate). Thanks to all our listeners for the continued support. Enjoy. The Best of, Vol. 1 | 4/15/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

#006: Twitter, MTV Unplugged, Pornography | If you were one of the literally tens of people anxiously waiting for Part 2 of the “Minivast” to hit the airwaves, you’re out of luck: It was terrible so we shelved it. Instead, we are back for a full-scale episode that chronicles the rise and fall of MTV Unplugged, offers a theory on how professional sports and pornography control the universe, and laments the unfortunate timing of Spacehog’s musical career. What’s a conversation about MTV Unplugged without mention of Eric Clapton, Nirvana and Dashboard Confessional? And what’s a Podvast without mention of Michael McDonald-era Doobie Brothers, bocce, Goodfellas, Steely Dan, My Boys, Twitter, Girl Talk and the Winter Olympics? Enjoy. #002: Avatar, Steppenwolf, James Spader | After a week off, the “Podvast” is back, taking on such important issues as FAA regulations, Avatar, Steely Dan, Avenue Pub, Weekend at Bernie’s, Coldplay, Mannequin, Andrew McCarthy, James Spader, Boston Legal, Steppenwolf, Ally McBeal, David Cronenberg, Crash, Goodburger, Donald Trump and much more. Don’t mind the verbal tics and rhetorical crutches. We know exactly what we are talking about and are joined by longtime friend of the show Dave. Episode #002 | 1/26/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

#001: Trader Joe's, Drowning Mona, Beverly Hills 90210 | On the first official episode of the “Podvast,” me and my buddy Jack discuss this blustery New Orleans weather, Trader Joe’s, Drowning Mona, Beverly Hills: 90210 vs. Saved By The Bell and The Jersey Shore. We also try to keep it PG-13, as well as figure out what the hell that means, anyway. Episode #001 | 1/12/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
