The Mikie Show is a bimonthly half hour radio variety show. We're here to raise your spirits. If you have no spirits, a glass of iced tea will do. It's fun and funny. Sometimes subtle. There's a little theater. Let's not forget corny—but it's the good kind of corny. There's guest interviews, a quiz and we always have some news. There's also a cast of, well, characters. Episode 44, Gordon | This episode we speak with percussionist extraordinaire, Gordon Gottlieb. He is an all-world multi-instrumentalist, and can play literally hundreds of percussion instruments, all mallets (like vibes and marimba) and is an amazing timpanist as well. We get him to bang on some stuff just to prove it. Recording? He’s played on at least 125 albums and hundreds of film scores and commercials. Episode 43, Sarah | Hurrah, it’s another show about stuff I don’t know! Yes, this episode we speak with Sarah Mattson, planetary photographic cartographer, you know, I don’t really know what to call her, but she creates 3D terrain models of the surface of Mars. It’s scary realistic, because it is! These pictures are downloads from an orbiting camera like no other. Humans need to assemble them into beautiful 3D scenes from the planet’s surface. She also does the Moon. In fact that’s one of the camera’s pictures of the Martian surface right there on the left. We also want to thank Lujendra Ojha for popping up in our interview, he's the person who first witnessed the picture of the erosion patterns on Mars that were all the buzz a few months ago. And if you listen closely, you'll hear another member of this team, Christy Caudill, saying hi from behind her giant computer screens. Unique to this research is that Ms. Debenport has to agree to keep her knowledge of their language a secret (even the pueblo’s name is a pseudonym). Very interesting.
