A great review show
It's entertaining, informative and is a great alternative to many movie review shows. Mr. Movie and Mr. Film don't just examine the techniques of the film, they also examine the content and story of the movies. This is good, for they don't give a movie a pass just for mastering film techniques that film students (like me) have been taught over and over. They look at the core of the film, the fundamentals of each story, and grade based on that along with the execution. This is especially helpful for filtering through gimmicky or bad movies and getting to the ones that actually have value and longevity.
I hope these two continue on with their show! They do a great job.
Good Show
Film reviews come in a lot of flavors these days, from the profound to the ridiculous and everything in between. Personally, I like a range of perspectives. What I like most about this podcast is the casual yet erudite nature of the reviews. It feels like a lively conversation over coffee with people who love movies. And while it's nice to hear from the official critics, it's also refreshing to get other perspectives. And although the hosts can be a little hard on some of the films, let's face it, 80% of the stuff Hollywood releases is a derivative of the last crappy 80% they released the previous year (not that I'm bitter). The hosts have well thought out critiques and a fun style. Hope to hear more!
Great Show
