Beautiful Guitar, Intimate Soundscape

Thomas Villalon produces quite possibly the perfect audial ensemble. Combining a wise, folky sound with youthful, introspective lyrics and spanish influences, Villalon's songwriting style is deep, candid, and complex without delving into condescendance. Villalon seems to be capable of playing any instrument with confidence and ease, weaving together acoustic guitar, classical guitar, cello, violin, mandolin, bass, piano, banjo, and ukulele, with illustrious compositional skill. However, the heart and soul of Villalon's music lays within the guitar, of which he is a true master. This, coupled with passionate, honest lyrics, illicit immediate comparisons to Sufjan Stevens. Often when listening to Villalon, you feel like you are sneaking a peek at something you shouldn't. It is personal, pure and entirely captivating. Villalon's vocals on the track, "Rohre, Where the Weather Goes" reveal his innovation as a singer/songwriter, while he pumps exponential amounts of acoustic charm into softer numbers like "Constant." It's nearly impossible to hear Villalon's songs without realizing that he speaks for your very experiences. He is able to convey the relaxed feel of a John Butler Trio or Sufjan Stevens song in a fashion sure to appeal to the Dave Matthews Band crowd.

Can one dude really do all of this?

While I am no music major, even I am taken back by the amount of talent that went into making these tracks.  When you consider that every instrument, including vocals, is performed by one artist it makes everyone wish they learned how to play an instrument at a young age.  Both soulful, and hypnotic this pod-cast is sure to please anyone looking for some amazing FREE tunes.  I look forward to this guys next installment.
