Podcast Description

FROM JOHN GIFFORD: "The ideas contained in this podcast are based on my subjective experience of working with people in pain for over twenty years. Be skeptical of any person who says they have the complete answer for all pain syndromes and please do not take my or any professional's observations as the only valid perspective. Pain is too complicated for a "one size fits all" approach. Research and experiment for yourself to determine if my suggestions have merit for you. Thanks for your time." SHOW SUMMARY: Muscular pain, back pain, and muscle tension are just a few of the topics covered by John Gifford, owner of Motionwise®. John shares his "observations from the table" from over twenty years as lecturer, consultant, and practitioner of Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy® and Sports Massage Therapy. He has provided over 30,000 hands on sessions within both the private practice and the medical clinic setting. He has taught anatomy of movement and sports massage at the college level, and has created pain and tension prevention programs for dental professionals and corporate America. Episodes discuss the self-help strategies he has utilized with his clients and to the thousands of people he has interacted with in his seminars and lectures. Stretching, educational interviews, pain research, myths of pain, trigger point strategies, pain science and pseudoscience, and practical anatomy teachings are representative of sample subjects covered. Additionally, considerable time is spent on exploring the role of the brain and its impact on muscle pain as seen in (TMS) tension myositis syndrome, distraction pain syndromes and fibromylagia. His mission is to help people lead more successful and fulfilling lives by teaching them strategies to prevent muscle pain and tension. He is the author of Essential Stretches You'll Actually Use.

Customer Reviews

Help for the helper.

Excellent program for people who have concerns about back pain and for those who help people get through it. As a FL licensed massage therapist, I have found these segments interesting, challenging, and even stretching. Listening to John has enabled me to expand my perspective and, in thought, my practice. I look forward to hearing more episodes in the future. Thanks.
