I started this podcast because I felt like the Christian podcasts out there were not relatable. My life was messy and I wanted a podcast that was messy. I wanted stories from people that reflected the real things we go through in life, like abortion, divorce, and fury at God. This podcast is for the rest of us. You're not alone. There are others in the same boat as you.

2.16 Mental Health: Sexual Addiction (Part 3)

2.16 Mental Health: Sexual Addiction (Part 3)

Wilson Wang and Roy Kim continue discussing the topic of sexual addiction. Some of our talking points:
    The case for accountability groups
    Paul Kelly's 5 column plan
Practicing honesty is part of recovery. Ministry leaders must lead the way.

Our hope for the Church to be gracious to those who truly want to heal.
We had no one to coach us through our emotions, and this created consequences in adulthood.

We hope something we share helps you feel like there are others in the same boat as you!

2.15 Mental Health: Sexual Addiction (Part 2)

2.15 Mental Health: Sexual Addiction (Part 2)

Wilson Wang and Roy Kim continue discussing the topic of sexual addiction. Some of our talking points:
How many pastors do we think have a sexual addiction?  How do pastors preach so well and lead so well, yet have this huge secret life? Are there yellow flags in "spotting" a sexual addict in ministry leadership? If people are getting saved and ministry is thriving because of a pastor's leadership, is their sexual addiction the necessary blood payment since it's their outlet for stress? What should we be asking God to do in this worldwide situation?

2.14 Mental Health: Sexual Addiction (Part 1)

Wilson Wang and Roy Kim dive into part one of the topic of sexual addiction. Some of our talking points:
Confessing porn viewing, masturbation, and other sexual behaviors can feel as difficult as confessing murder. There are very few church onramps for talking about sexual addiction. What enabled Wilson and Roy to talk more openly about it? Is masturbation really that bad? What's a better way to phrase this question? How many in the church engage in compulsive sexual behavior? What are some ways to address sexual addiction in the church? Words can’t even convey, but I can try.

This podcast is such a breath of fresh air, especially as a Korean American who has struggled and continues to struggle with mental health. The topics approached bring a sense of familiarity that the name of the podcast aptly describes: to know that we are not alone. To hear stories of people going through great trials and experiencing redemption, healing, and growth that doesn’t look like the Hollywood image of a happy ending every single time reminds me that life is complicated with nuances too infinite to generalize. The faith-based approach that Roy implements is just as refreshing, teaching Christians that there is room for wrestling, doubts, and great personal turmoil when approaching the challenges of life through the lenses of faith. That faith is so much more than praying a single prayer as a ticket to endless paradise, but a daily struggle that requires introspection and thoughtfulness. All that to say, I guess you could say I enjoyed this podcast a little. Or a lot.
