Yes Mark is still harping on about his 100 MB Virgin Media connection, but what about their customer service? Is it any better / worse than the rest? Don is back from MacWorld and talks about how he used the iPad, rather than the MacBook Air, and how he secured a good mobile data plan while there. Don't ask him what he saw on the floor however! Darren is looking forward to 100 Mbps cable broadband being installed tomorrow, which somehow gets us talking about TV and streaming media. Do we really want to sit in front of our computers and watch TV? and why in todays connected world do we still have to wait months for a series to cross the pond? Who has time for TV anyway? Darren also provides some insight on what it means to give your app away for free in the iTunes store, and the reluctance amongst Android users to pay for software. Mark's been shopping again and reports on his new Wacom Intuso 4 tablet, and how you need to have 100 Mbps broadband to install Apple's Logic Pro, then Simon offers a solution for finding and tracking deals on Amazon. | 18 | VideoThe Tech Lounge Episode 40 | Episode 40 - Monday 23rd January 2012 The Tech Lounge Show Episode 40. This week Simon Bainbridge, James Turner, and Darren Griffin chill out and catch up with host Mark Dalton on Episode 40 of The Tech Lounge Show. James is having a bit of a nightmare with Royal Mail after a rather successful week. He's not shipping enough however to qualify for the service he would like to use but is shipping a bit to much put up with the shoddy Mac implementation of the service he is using. This coupled with the fact that the Royal Mail's website seems to be about as stable as a third world government has him pulling his hair out. Darren on the other hand is a happy chap after the website MEGAUPLOAD was taken down. The site is constantly hosting illegal copies of the PocketGPSWorld CameraAlert Database and the news has helped him a little with his "Man Flu". We discuss this in light of SOPA and all agree that copyright is a serious matter that needs enforcing but the tabled motions are not the right way to go about it. Simon watched the Apple Education Keynote this week where iBook Author, iTextBooks, and the new iTunes U application were announced and tells us how this is going to be an awesome development for the schools he looks after. He also updates up on is iOS development training is going and provides some helpful tips and resources. Useful Links from The Tech Lounge Episode 40.. | 19 | VideoThe Tech Lounge Episode 39 | Episode 39 - Monday 16th January 2012 This week Julie Kuehl, Kevin Allder, and Anthony Gartner chill out and catch up with host Mark Dalton. Julie has started her new job and the company has provided a new MacBook Pro. She is still getting used to it. It's running Lion and Julie is still running Snow Leopard at home, so a little bit of a learning curve. They have also provided a Windows Virtual Machine (VM) via VMWare. Julie is also loving Scrivner, which she has been using to transcribe an interview for the MacObserver. Kevin loves VMWare Fusion, as does Anthony, whilst Mark is using parallels. We discuss the merits of both and even touch on some of the free alternatives. Anthony is trying to sort out his spam filters, something Mark understands but unfortunately only because he broke his this week, but he's making up for it with a new ToolKit from iFixIt, which he is going to use to manufacture the new "Remote controlled Wheely Bin". | 1/17/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 20 | VideoThe Tech Lounge Episode 38 | Episode 38 - Monday 9th January 2012 Our first The Tech Lounge show after the Christmas break and we got off to a shaky start. The new iMac performed admirably, as we knew it would, but the simplification of our setup left us with a few audio gremlins. We ended up starting 20 minutes late, and then found out we had some echo on the live stream. Unfortunately this made its way into the recording and affects the first six minutes. I hope you can allow us this little mistake, together with a another minor one I made when @GazMaz was describing his new stand. I hadn't configured the audio so you get a nice shot of the stand without him talking. [Ed. That's a bad thing?] | 1/10/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Great host and guests
I just started following this podcast recently, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. If it proves to be as enjoyable long term as it has been so far, I'll come back and give it a five.
What I enjoy about the podcast is the intelligence and humor from Mark and the guests. Mark obviously thinks things through and therefore has great opinions on his topics, and his guests that I have seen have all been great contributors as well.
Very enjoyable! Feels like a group of people you'd enjoy spending time with discussing tech topics.
The Tech Lounge: One great Sofa!
This show is so far beyond different from most podcasts in that it's all done with video so you can actually see the people talking. Mark keeps the discussion lively and interesting, and the wide variety of guests means it's never dull. Check it out once and yo'll be back for more
