Podcast Description
Welcome to the home of The Walking Eye! We are a group of gamers passionate about exploring the myriad new horizons of the gaming industry, whilst engaging in animated discussions about the ins and outs of this glorious hobby. Lately we’ve discovered the paradigm-shattering power of the indie game and it’s reawakened the fire of collaborative creation within us. Each month we’ll release Actual Play sessions of the cutting edge of story gaming. Many of these games have to be seen or played to really grasp, but we all know finding the right mix of players can be a daunting task. Allow us to show you if a game’s right for you and your players. Our intended format is to run 3-5 sessions of actual play followed by a review of the game and when possible an interview of the designer or other involved parties. On weeks that we cant game we’ll try to do a discussion show with topics on RPG Theory and gaming advice.

ExplicitDiscussion 28: The Same Page Tool | A while ago Kevin stumbled across Chris Chinn's "Deeper in the Game" blog and quickly became a fan. Chris discusses a lot of interesting topics and puts a lot of thought into each post. One entry in particular caught his attention: The Same Page Tool. This was a tool RPG gamers can use before playing a game to make sure everyone is on the same page for what they expect out of this game, with these people. Kevin, Jen, and Troll had just been in a Mutants and Masterminds game with a new GM, and it became very obvious after just one session that we were not all on the same page. We go through the Same Page Tool question by question and discuss the implications of each question, using the aborted M&M game as an example of how it could help. ExplicitVincent Baker Interview: Apocalypse World | Kevin and Troll sit down with D. Vincent Baker to discuss some of the nitty gritty of Apocalypse World. We talk a fair bit about the philosophy behind Moves, and the inspirations for Apocalypse World. A small note on the audio quality: Vincent's microphone seems a bit unreliable, so some parts of the interview were very quiet. Kevin tried to amplify and salvage it as best he could, but the result might be a bit annoying in some parts. Apologies for that. It might be best to listen to this interview w/ headphones. ExplicitApocalypse World Review | Kevin, Jen, CJ, and Troll gather around to discuss the ins and outs of D. Vincent Baker's Apocalypse World. There were a wide variety of opinions about Apocalypse World, and we spend some time discussing the particulars of the GM style of AW and how the tone of the text affects some people's enjoyment of the game. Overall, we really enjoyed Apocalypse World. ExplicitRound-table 3: Drifting the Rules | Kevin sits down with Ryan Macklin, John Wick, and Eddy Webb to discuss the pros and cons of drifting the rules in RPG's. It's a good discussion, and fair warning, the last 10 minutes or so are actually a tangent on the realities of being an internet microcelebrity, and how people act vastly differently to said celebrities when they meet them in person rather than how they talk about them on internet forums. Still a pretty interesting conversation, but if you're here just to hear about drifting, you might wanna skip the last 10 minutes. Customer Reviews
Actual play group that makes you feel a part of them.
The members of The Walking Eye are typical gamers who let you in on their actual play and discussions of roleplaying games. They have a chemistry that makes you feel a part of the group and instead of just hitting highlights of their game sessions they give you the whole event as it happened, broken down into a set of episodes. Each game they play is then followed by a discussion of how they think it went. Their format is great for getting a feel of the game they are playing, seeing both the pros and cons of each system. The Walking Eye is well worth listening to if you like actual play and new indie games.
Very Informative
I like this show, a lot. The people on it our fun and interesting. The games they cover are ones I'm very interested in. If you're interested in one of the games they cover, go listen to the episodes on that game and you won't be disappointed.
One of my Favorite RPG Podcasts
I recently discovered this podcast after listening to the PodgeCast and I have to say I am glad they mentioned it. The cast is highly entertaining, their reviews are great, and the comic section is a nice addition as well. I have really enjoyed their Dresden Files Actual play episodes as well. They are both insightful into the game and on how the cast thinks about gaming. I have to give them a five star raiting and highly recommend you give them a listen.
