ExplicitGuest DJ: DJ JAYONE | I want to start off by saying thank you to all the support i have gotten, very positive words and i appreciate every single one. My second guest DJ is DJ JAYONE, I had the pleasure to compete with Jayone in the Beezo battle inside of Toro Sushi. Jayone is a very respectful guy and after the battle just networked and he knows a few people I know so with out wasting time heres what Jayone had to say. Jayone How long have you been djing for ? I actually started collecting records back in 95, but didnt start deejaying till 96-97 when i got my first set of turntables and mixer so over 12 years now Why did you start Djing? I've always loved music and as long as I can remember the turntable just caught my eye. My parents owned a technics turntable and something about being able to control the record and scratching was just very interesting to me, as well as some of my family members being DJ's I was always around the booth and just sort of fell into it. Who would you say are your biggest Dj Influences? I will keep it short lol, First and foremost it would be "A.M" (R.I.P), Fashen, Vice, Tony G, J-Dilla, Revolution, Beat Junkies, Fantastic 4our, A-Trak, Q-Bert , JayCeeOh , Primo, Excel, DJ Ever, Z-trip, i'm really digging what Steve 1der and the rest of the screen werks crew is doing right now on the video side. That is definitely a respectful group, now You submitted a Hip Hop mix any reason why? Being a DJ i've always had an open mind for all types of music but the music that has been coming out lately has been garbage (well atleast to me anyways) and I usually cater to the people but I have been big fan of the Fantastic 4our and The Wake Up Show just because it was good to hear some Raw/Rugged/ Classic Hip-Hop. It always good to get away from the mainstream Top 40/Ringtone Rappers for a while and get back to the roots of where it started. I feel people should not forget about the Non Mainstream artist/Rappers still putting music out for our listening pleasure and not doing it for the money Word to that and its good because, new cats who wanna spin get see some of the older cats music history. You played this style of tracks on The Addict Hour (Tues.8PM PST.) right? How was that experience for you? Yeah. That was my first online/video mixshow for me so it was pretty cool. S/O to Xscape and Dijitz for having me on. I was a bit nervous but settled in comfortably after the first few mixes haha. IF you can DJ Any where in the world where would it be and why? honestly I would have to say vegas just because its sin city and alot of heavy weight DJs are always spinning in that city and I would like the opportunity to spin with some of them. whats one thing that you see that is an opportunity to improve the dj culture ? well Serato has changed the game dramatically. with all the technology we have now it can only get better or worse but I would have really liked to see this new generation of DJs to have had been in our shoes (record shopping, digging, carrying the crates, flight cases etc) and I think they would have a lot more respect to veteran DJs in the game. Now a days it so easy to get your hands on mp3s and before we would spend endless hours digging for our music and hitting up different record shops. Yeah, I think there is a boundary between new cats and older vets. So where can people catch you spin Live? i've been playing at cenizas lounge in pasadena every other week but I have some spots in the works, so you can stay updated from my contact info. LINKS / CONTACT / BOOKING twitter.com/DjJayOneLA http://www.facebook.com/pages/DJ-JayOne/115060338505052 bookings at djjayone@gmail.com Thanks JAYONE for letting the listeners get to know you a little bit more. So enjoy this exclusive mix everyone, I have a few guests lined up for the this month and next month so stay tuned. Thanks for the views and support! | 1/13/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitGuest DJ: DJ Dash | So Finally I get to start DJ Trmnology Radio with my first Guest, DJ DASH. I met Dj Dash i believe when he was Djing at Club United with a few other Spin Addicts. Ever since then we have kept in contact since i know a few guys in the crew he is in. Dash is a really cool guy and I got a chance to rock with him a few times, enjoy the mix at the bottom of the interview. Dj Dash is a Los Angeles Area DJ How long have you been djing for ? -I first touched the tables way back in 1997 but didn't get to play my first "gig" (house party) until 2000. Do you have any DJS in your family? -I'm the only DJ in my family but I come from a family of musicians and played a handful of instruments myself growing up. All that time in band actually helps me understand how to make creative sets and produce decent tracks. Dj Dash is also involved in one of the most diverse crews in the area, The Spin Addicts. Can you tell us a little but about the crew and How long have you been with the Spin addicts? -I've been in the crew a little over a year but believe I was hustling to become a member for a while. When they finally hit me up to join the crew I was pretty psyched because all of the members were making moves. It's always good to surround yourself with good DJs and prior to that I think that's where I was lacking, being around djs that were much better than me so I could be inspired and challenged. So you made a house mix for the podcast any reason why? Personally I've been a fan of EDM (electronic dance music) and house music before I even go into hip hop (circa 1999). Also I don't get to play "real" house music much at the spots I play at so it was nice to have some freedom and share some tracks that I enjoy. Where can people See you spin Live ? I have a weekly residency at The Brig in Venice on thursdays. I play open format and pretty much run with whatever is moving the crowd. It could be a 90s night or indie night, gotta just come and say hello. IF you can DJ Any where in the world where would it be and why? I would have to say Pacha in Ibiza Spain. I was fortunate to go there once just to party and it was AMAZING. It's super dope to see that many people there just enjoying house music and skilled djs. Greatest Dj Influences? Too many to list but here are a few. Q-Bert, Z-trip, A-Trak, Craze, Fashen, Spryte, JayCeeOh, AC Slater, Nadastrom, ALL the spinaddicts, seriously this list can get pretty big lol. Times are changing and so is the DJ Culture whats one thing that you see that is an opportunity to improve the culture ? I see that a lot of the veteran djs (not sure I been in the game long enough to be a vet) seem resistant to anything new (tech/genres/etc). I think that needs to change and as DJs go back to the school of breaking records yet at the same time playing songs people are familiar with. Also seems we all need to stop wasting time blaming technology for "messing up the game" and just move on and accept the fact that the game IS different now and adapt so the dope DJs stay relevant. ExplicitGold Chains & Thang’s Vol. 1 | So after a few months of Ableton trials, I finally got the courage to go ahead and make my first Ableton mix. It was not easy but it was a great experience, I learned so much from it that I'm almost ready to experiment with remixes. This mix is just all about my experience of Hip-Hip and the idea that to me it will never be forgotten. I think that a lot of people who want to dj now days or young music fans didn't experience what I call the golden era of Hip-Hop. They missed a bit of realness of music and how it brought people together. I hope everyone enjoys this mix and i hope it brings back a few memories. This mix goes out to all the djs that have inspired me in some way, new or old they have made a impact in many DJs lives. People like DJ Vice DJ AM (RIP) DJ Jazzy Jeff and a special shout out to DJ Xscape. | 12/17/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
