Podcast Description

Tummelvision is a weekly live podcast that explores the human side of technology - people before data. A Tummler is a Yiddish word used to describe a person who catalyzes others to action. Tummlers were traditionally hired at Jewish weddings and in the Borscht belt to warm up the crowd and get the party started. Each week Heather, Deb and Kevin engage with well-known guests from the arts, business, and technology who all share a unique focus on the importance of bringing our more human selves with us both online and offline. Guests are all experts in the art and science of engaging and collaborating a networked world. Topics range from "does google get social" to what is the role of empathy and emotion in business and how do we genuinely connect in a connected world.

Customer Reviews

Consistently engaging and informative

This weekly webcast is run by a rockstar team! Kevin, Deb, and Heather are all assets in their industry, and are tapped into the most interesting developments in technology, social media, and community building. They bring on a special guest for every episode, and unpack what's going on in the world through the framework of "tummeling" -- the art of building healthy, lively, productive conversations in groups of various sizes. They record the show live, and support a simultaneous chatroom for whoever wants to show up and add to the conversation. Highly recommended.

Humanizing the internet (at least trying to)

An awesome show talking about how we interact and make connections - and how it would work so much better if they made it easier to do so ... Heather, Kevin and Deb talk to interesting individuals like Jyri Engeström, Dave Gray and Blaine Cook to name a few 'recent' ones (as of November 2010) - recommend checking it out if you like listening in on interesting conversations about how we get along online ...

why I'm there

Tummelvision gives me a sense of seminar, studio, salon, & prolly many other S things.
In my life, being in a small room of smart people has been, uh, well, superlative. Every week new smart guests are delivered as if they were waiting in a giant Kleenex box if nifty sh*t to think about. 20 years ago I had an informal college weekly discussion group, interdisciplinary, serious but fun, & I've tried to find it's equal ever since. Tummelvision is pretty damn close. Now if we could only get Dick Cavett..
