Podcast Description
Join two guys who have no experience running a marathon as they train to...well, run a marathon. In only 18 weeks, Steven and Anthony will learn all they can about running by surfing the web, believing suspect hearsay, and simply trying something they've never tried before: running really, really far distances. Each week they report on how the training went during their previous week (Week in Review), offer some tips they've either discovered themselves or gleaned off the internet (Gomer Tip of the Week), suggest some motivating music (Songs to Run To), and delve into any other topics that might come up along the way. This podcast might inspire you to stay in shape, challenge you to do something you've never done before, or just take up another twenty minutes of your morning commute. No matter what role it plays in your life, just enjoy it for what it is - two guys who need any and every motivation they can get to actually do something no one else thinks they can do.

Minisode 2 – Gomernation Races in Review | In this not-so-mini-Minisode, there's four things the Gomers want to tell you about: 1. Â Anthony's concerto. 2. Â Their love/hate for the new Harry Potter movie. 3. Â Some stories from the Gomer Thanksgiving Challenge. 4. Â The new jingle. Enjoy, and Happy Running! Oh, p.s. Â If you want to read Steven's scathing, spoiler-ridden review of HP7 (the book) that he blogged 3 1/2 years ago, you can find it here. Episode 2 – The Gomer Curse? | Now that the Gomers are fully into their 3rd season, guess what? Â There's more distractions, injuries, and weird sicknesses than you can shake a bassoon at. Â But that's not stopping them - in fact, they've both been having pretty great weeks - not counting the blood in the urine, of course. Plus all your favorite sections: Â Week in Review, Listener Feedback, a new Monday Survey, and two new Songs to Run To...AND a brand new section, Gomer Gear! Â Men, need a product that will keep EVERYTHING warm in the bitter cold while running? Â You may want to take a listen. Â Hope you like the episode, Happy Running! Minisode 1 – The Gomer Thanksgiving Challenge | Looks like the Gomers just couldn't bear the thought of recording every other week, so here's a Minisode to keep you going until Episode 2. Â There's some fun stuff in here, but the main purpose of this little installment is to issue a challenge. Â Ready? Â Here it is: We challenge you to sign up, TODAY, to walk or run a 5k or 10k this Thanksgiving morning! Turkey Trots can be the best time to run a first race, or get going again if it's been awhile. Â Remember - the Gomers were just two regular guys who couldn't run a block when they started. Â Let this be your inciting incident to get out there, start walking or running, and get in shape! Do it. Â Happy Running! | 11/15/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 1 – Speed Changes Everything | The Gomers are back for their Third Season, TGRAM: The Sub Five Strive, and they're trying to get used to the changes. Â More training runs, more commitment, more effort, more discomfort - it's a wonder they have time to record podcasts! Â But they do, fair Nation, and it's all for you. You'll notice an unusual amount of running talk, but it's probably just because of all the changes. Â Don't worry, there's still the tangents one expects from the Gomers, including fall movie chat, Halloween candy reminiscences, celebrity impressions, and fortune cookie readings. Plus all the regular sections: Â Week in Review, Listener Feedback, Gomer's Tips, Songs to Run to, and an all-new section: True or Faux? Â Hope you enjoy it, and Happy Running! Episode 36 – Journey in Review | Well, it was supposed to be the final episode, but in true Gomer form, things didn't go as planned. Â The guys needed to add ONE MORE episode, coming on Thursday, since they spend more time than they thought they would on what the journey to the marathon has meant to them, how it's changed them, and what's next. Â Everest, anyone? We've built these last two episodes around questions from the Gomernation, so enjoy! Â And, as always, let us know what you think. The guys are pulling out all the stops to prepare themselves for the (fast) approaching Marathon, including harkening back to the tiny vestiges of running experience both had as young lads. Â And seriously, we're talking tiny vestiges here. But it's enough to guide them through a packed Special that takes them through a journey from Ready, to Set, to GOOOOOOOO(mer). Episode 31 – Walk-Run-Walk | It's a shorter episode this week after the beast that was 30, and in preparation for the third special, but it's still packed full of goodness - just like a Chicago style pizza. Â Gomer2 tried Jeff Galloway's Run-Walk-Run for the first time, while Gomer1 tells his tale of a "dress rehearsal run" gone awry. Â Oh well, there's always next time, right? Â Plus some Double Down Debrief, the value of an X in Scrabble, whether Rudy really won, and pining for re-hydrated future-food. And all your back-to-the-basics favorites: Â Week in Review, Listener Feedback, and two new Songs To Run To. Â Happy Running! Episode 29 – That Hurt More | Both Gomers pulled out their LSRs this week (that stands for Long Slow Runs, emphasis on the SLOW), Gomer2 just barely. Â However, a new tactic has arisen that helped him get through the bonk - and no, it's not imagining that he's being chased by giant worms. Oh, and bacon. Episode 23 – This IS a running podcast, right? | With Gomer2 still laid up in bed and Gomer1 recovering from the Half Marathon, it's a slow running week. Â But you know better than to think they wouldn't come up with PLENTY to talk about right? Â It's what you'd expect: Â a weird mix of Oscar Chat, food tangents, weight updates, recovery observations, and new Spring TV reviews. And yes, ok, there's some running stuff! Â Week in Review, Listener Feedback, Eat and Run, Running in the Media, two new Songs to Run To, and the final two Rookie Mistakes in the Runner's Corner - it's all here. Episode 22 – A Little Bit of Normalcy (or: Move That Bus take three) | Who thinks it's a good idea for Gomer2 to take his meds right before recording, raise your hands. Â You might want to listen to this episode before you decide. Â The Gomers are back, baby, and doing their best to bring a little bit of normalcy back to the GomerNation. Â So expect a lot of the usual - TV Tangents, obscure pop culture references, weird Middle School nostalgia, non-sensical tips, and pipe dreams about who listens to their podcast. And the regular features, too! Â Week in Review, Gomer's Tips, Listener Feedback, Monday Survey, two new Songs to Run To, and two new Rookie Mistakes in the Runner's Corner. Â And make sure you stick around till the end to hear their official announcement about the marathon (again)! Gomer Rewind 3 – Plus Post-accident and Half Marathon Reports! | Gomer2 is still mostly bed-ridden in the aftermath of the big car accident, so the guys thought this would be the perfect time for their third Gomer Rewind. Â Join the guys as they take a look back at one of their favorite episodes from the first season, the one recorded one day before their first race. Â Not only are they both in the same room, but it's in front of a live studio audience! But wait, there's more! Â Before the Rewind Steven gives a post-accident update, and the guys discuss what's to become of the marathon, originally schedule for 4 weeks from now (gulp). Â And AFTER the Rewind, Anthony is joined by a very special guest to discuss running his second Half Marathon this past weekend. Â It's a packed episode, we tell ya, PACKED! This week's Survey...er...there isn't one. Â So much going on, the Gomers totally forgot. Â Oh well, Happy Running anyway! | 3/2/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 21 – One Gomer Gets Hit By A Smart Car | The title explains it all, right? This past week Steven got hit by a car while on a run in the fair city of Denver, and he is able to sit up long enough to record a shorter episode so the Gomernation knows the details. And, more importantly, so they know he's alright. The good news: he totally won against the Smart Car. The details of the marathon are up in the air again (sound familiar?), but know this: The Gomers are here to stay. There WILL be a marathon. And that marathon WILL be run by Steven and Anthony, together. Recovery needs to happen, however, and so expect a little downtime from the Gomers in the weeks ahead, including a Gomer Rewind next week instead of a regular episode. Sorry about that! And we need some advice. So, the first Monday Survey question: What the heck should we do now? Any ideas? And the second one isn't so serious: With Steven on his back for the next several weeks, he's looking for good books, music, TV, and movies to fill up the time. Shoot him some recommendations! Episode 20 – Celebs | In a miraculous turn of events, BOTH Gomers had a good week this week, and they can't wait to talk about it.  Join them as they discuss being in control of their runs, who shouldn't win the Oscar for best picture, eating while traveling, and the effect of weight-loss on cold temperature tolerance.  And oh yeah, there is plenty of talk of the many celebrities in the Gomernation, real and fake. And make sure you stick around for all the regular features:  Week in Review, Listener Feedback, Gomer's Tips, Eat and Run, two new rookie mistakes in the Runner's Corner, and two new Songs to Run To. And speaking of S2R2, if you haven't let us know what yours are yet, tell us here or click on the tab on the right, we're going to talk through some next week!  And the other Monday Survey - What time of day do you run?  Night, day, or in between? | 2/15/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 19 – Gomer Regrets | Humble pie, anyone? Â The Gomers have a big slice they'd be willing to share. Â The good news is, most of the Gomernation has forgiven the guys for their insensitivity last week, and after an initial apology from their future selves, they're ready to move on. Â Both of them ran a staggering 16 miles in a row this week, and they have tales to tell - some good, some not so good. Â And that makes them first scared, then motivated, and vice versa. And don't forget all the regular features: Â Week in Review, Eat and Run, Gomers Tips, Listener Feedback, two new Songs to Run To, and two new Rookie Mistakes in the Runners Corner. Â Happy Running! This Week's Monday Survey: Â What motivates you to keep going during those difficult runs? Â With the marathon fast approaching, we need all the help we can get! | 2/8/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 18 – Recover, Exclamation Point | It was a lighter week for the Gomers, and they have a lot to say about it - most of it good. Â With the marathon coming up fast, it's a nice thing to have a good week once in a while! Â And since they had a little time to breathe, the guys used the time to actually LEARN a thing or two about running. Â Wow! Â Of course, their Gomer's Tips could never be found in any book. Â Unless that book is made up entirely of Band-Aid/Nipple tips. Â Er, nipple HINTS. Â Yeah, that's better. And now that the marathon is nigh, we're getting back to the basics: Â Gomer's Tips, two new Songs to Run To, Listener Feedback, Week in Review, and the start of a new Runner's Corner series. Â Enjoy, and Happy Running! This week's Monday Survey: Â What are your marathon (or any long race) regrets? What do you wish you'd done differently? Episode 17 – Good Run, Bad Run | "You're only one run away from a good run."  That's Gomer1's theory, and Gomer2 hopes it's true, because it was brutal for him this week.  But it makes for good podcast material, right?  Join the guys as they process what it means when one of them has a good week and the other, well, DOESN'T.  Of course, it's not all doom and gloom.  When it gets that way, all the guys have to do is argue about whether or not  Avatar is actually any good, and everything gets back to normal. Plus, the Gomers reveal their initial thoughts and plans for Running for a Cause in the Runner's Corner, get back to their jazz roots in Songs to Run To, and talk cold weather and cold leftovers in Listener Feedback.  Happy Running! Monday Survey this week:  Do you have any experience with Running for a Cause?  Any advice for us?  Did it make your running more worthwhile?  Tell us your story! | 1/25/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 16 – Birthdays, Anniversaries, and Cold Pizza | It's the one-year anniversary of the Gomers' Half Marathon, and they celebrate by - how else? - running 13 miles without stopping. It was the longest run in a year for both of them, and you'll have to tune in to hear how it went.  SPOILER ALERT:  It went surprisingly well. Also, don't miss the return of Gomers' Tips of the Week, with cold-weather musings, leftovers advice, and a little celebrity impression that ends up taking on a sick life of its own. Plus all the regular features:  Week in Review, Listener Feedback, the Monday Survey, and two new Songs to Run To.  Happy Running! This Week's Survey:  What are your cold-weather running tips?  AND/OR  How do you kick up your leftovers?  Both good questions, huh? Episode 15 – The Post-Holiday Report | It's a new year, and the Gomers are trying to get back into the swing of things after a long holiday season - with mixed results. Â Join them as they talk about their annual training run together, getting back on the bandwagon after travel and Christmas, and running in the single digits, through exotic cities, with screaming knee pain, and while wearing parkas. And in non-running-related, is it possible to maintain a healthy marriage while playing New Super Mario Wii? This week's Monday Survey is all about training schedules: Do you have one? How closely do you follow it? Does splitting a long run into two chunks count? Happy Running! | 1/11/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Two Gomers Special 2 – Two Gomers Get Resolute | It's the second Two Gomers Special: Two Gomers Get Resolute! Â The guys are visited by three ghosts: Past, Present, and Future...well, not really, but they talk about those things in relation to their running journey. Plus, we FINALLY discuss the controversial "Plodders" article from the New York Times...and Steven gets a little heated about it. Â You don't want to miss that. So download while the downloadin's good! Â Just click the first button to donate (suggested donation: $2.99) to the Two Gomers, and the second to download the New Year's Special (right click on the DOWNLOAD button and select "Save target as..." or "Download Linked File"). Episode 14 – Two Gomers Gomering, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree | Here it is, the final of three in this year's series of Christmas episodes. Â It's sad, but the Gomers press on, packing in every tiny Christmas-related tidbit they can in between updating the Gomernation on how the marathon-training is going. Â Which is, incidentally, pretty well. Join the Gomers as they relate tales of running both in the snow and 80 degree weather, watching classic Christmas movies, and responding to that many-layered question: Â "Why are you running a marathon? Â You must be crazy!" Well, maybe they are, but just wait till you hear their dissertations on the links between Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation, and The Nutcracker and Home Alone. Â THEN tell them they're crazy. This week's Survey: Â What are your New Years Resolutions? Episode 13 – Dashing through the snow (or not) | The Gomers are really getting into the Christmas spirit now, with more discussions about food, music, and movies both classic (White Christmas) and kind of a stretch (The Godfather). Â Oh, and they ran last week, too. Â Kind of. Â Winter has decended upon gomer2, and gomer1 does his best to keep him motivated, even though all Steven's doing is sitting around inside while the snow dumps outside, watching The Biggest Loser finale and eating chips. Believe it, fat Danny. They won't let it get them down, though. Â Not with all the regular features to get to, like Week in Review, two new Songs to Run To, the Christmas Corner, Listener Feedback, an all-new Monday Survey...and a True Gomer Confession that's kind of a game-changer. Episode 12 – Run Run Rudolph | It's the first of three Christmas Episodes, and the Gomers couldn't be more excited. But they've also got a lot of catching up to do - both ran Turkey Trots over Thanksgiving, and Anthony ran ANOTHER race after that. That's right, three races total in one week. All in the name of being able to eat whatever the heck they wanted. All the regular fixins (Week in Review, Listener Feedback, Eat and Run, Songs to Run To, Monday Survey) and something special thrown in (Christmas Corner) make for an episode that will get you into the holiday spirit, guaranteed. Â But it's not just a rehash of the same old stuff - The Gomers step in between each section and give behind-the-scenes insight, editor's commentary, and random thoughts you won't find anywhere else. Â Unless someone else out there has started a Gomers Commentary podcast, which is doubtful. So join the Gomers for a blast from the past! Episode 11 – Love eht (or: Don’t be so solfege!) | What do Liz Lemon, Shannon from Lost, Miley Cyrus, all 18 Duggars, and Anthony's landscaper have in common? Â You guessed it, they're all on this week's episode - and they all showed up to hear the guys announce their next big project, The Two Gomers Specials. Â Actually, the landscaper was the only one actually there, and his leaf-blowing was so loud he didn't hear anything, but whatever. Â Liz Lemon would have been there if she wasn't so busy. But it's not just about the announcement - there's also Week in Review, Running in the Media, two new Songs to Run To, and a listener-story-packed Listener Feedback. This Week's Survey: Â In preparation for our upcoming special episode, The Two Gomers Thanksgiving Special: Â Two Gomers Get Thankful, we're asking you to get thankful, too. Â Also, a peak behind the scenes at some Gomer texts. Â Talk about thrilling! This week's Monday Survey: Â We're looking for "First Race Stories." Â Share the story of that first race, or your first long race, to motivate the Gomernation to reach higher heights. Â Or just to make us laugh at the newbie-ness of it all. Episode 9 – Jumping the Gun | It's like when Anthony started that one race five minutes late, only the opposite. Â Seems like the Gomers spoke too soon on their marathon choice, and recorded two entire podcasts before they realized it. Â Sounds like a job for Future Anthony! Â And with the first appearance of Future Steven, they do their best to remedy the situation. Â MOVE THAT BUS BACK! Also, there's two new Songs to Run To, a Gomernation-themed Listener Feedback, a positive Week in Review (for once), and Gomers Tips that quickly turn into the guys freaking each other out more and more about the looming marathon (whenever that may be). Monday Survey of the Week: Â At long last, give us your input concerning treadmill vs. street running. Â What's the difference? Â Is one better for you than the other? Â And how does this affect their plans for the marathon? Â With only one week left before their second DTR/Re-evaulation, the Gomers are getting a little worried. But not too worried to stop talking about our biggest food weaknesses in the Listener Feedback, balancing work and workout in the Week in Review, two "new" songs in Songs To Run To, and ejecting Matt Lauer from a building in our brand new section, True Gomer Confessions. Monday Survey: Â After last week's topic, we need to cleanse our pallets a little, so the Gomers are looking for your HEALTHY eating tips. Â What is your favorite healthy food? Episode 3 – A Tale of Two Races | Both Gomers ran races last week, and they have a lot to say on the subject...and it probably won't surprise you that Anthony started a full 5 minutes after everyone else did at his 5k, and that Steven is still aching from his trail race, an entire week later. Oh well, they are Gomers after all! Also, discussions on the antics of Kanye and Kramer, another true Gomer confession, and the stiff competition the Gomers face on iTunes. Plus, the TV shows they're most looking forward to this fall. Â You didn't think they'd just talk about running on their running podcast, did you? Â You must be new. Monday Survey of the Week: Â We need help with our stretching routines. Â Actually, we don't have stretching routines, and we'd like to. Should we stretch before or after the run? Â For how long? ***What GOMER Means to me***
Genuine Outreach 2 Motivate & Entertain Runners
The Gomers remind me of my favorite people and our favorite times together, so it makes the long runs shorter and the hard runs easier. Thanks for the miles upon miles of smiles, guys...you've gotten me through 15 weeks of training and over 32 pounds. Go Gomers!!!
The perfect mix
If you're looking for a podcast that talks EXCLUSIVELY about running and talks down to you like you're a moron, then this one is NOT for you. In fact, if you're looking for that, you're kind of missing the point of the Two Gomers.
They're two regular guys who are trying to to amazing things, and regular people talk about regular stuff, even when they're trying to do amazing things. So expect a good chunk to be about running (I'd guess more than half at least), but their fans (the Gomernation) also listen for their takes on TV, movies and music, their thoughts on everything from food to (bad) fashion, and some truly side-splitting stories from their youth.
Of course, they DO do amazing things like run a marathon (spoiler), and for regular people like most of us are, that's the most inspiring thing you can ask for. Give it a shot, I promise you won't regret it, and you'll feel like you gained two new best friends in the process. Go Gomers Go!
Hilarious and Motivating
This is by far the best podcast on Itunes. The most I have ever run was a half marathon, after listening to this podcast I have been insprired to do a marathon.
