VideoMike Month | MIKE MONTH!! That's right. We're doing it, Mike Month. Now I know what you're thinking: "Mike Month....it's about time! That's going to be awesome!!" And if you're not thinking that, then you're wrong, because it is going to be awesome. For an explanation watch the attached video. It's just 1 minute, so it's not really that much of a commitment...... | 5/25/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoEpisode 28 – Echo, echo, echo…….. | It seems that you fine people have an insatiable appetite for cardiac ultrasound. So fine, at the risk of feeding the bears, we're gonna give you some more. There may or may not be such exciting topics at papillary rupture, aortic stenosis, and a new game called "Name that Mustache". Hope you enjoy! | 5/16/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoEpisode 27 – Renal Ultrasound | OK, so we feel kind of guilty/lazy... about posting these lectures from Castlefest, but they're WAY too good not to. We feel guilty because it saves us hours and hours of editing and creating new videos and such. But we've been getting some requests for more basic topics, and it doesn't get much more basic than this: Renal Ultrasound. So it's not that we've gotten lazy on you.....you asked for this! Before you decide not to download because there's no E/A wave sexiness here take solace in the fact that this is a quicky. 15 min. We tried to talk fast and pack it in for you. Enjoy! | 5/6/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoEpisode 26 – Ocular Ultrasound with Chris Fox | Chris Fox, Castlefest, and Alaskafest 2012!! So we just finished maybe the most amazing week of our lives (besides our wedding and babies' birth - We love you wives if you're reading this!) Castlefest is over, and we've got some special Castlefest footage for you. Chris Fox is coming into your earbuds this month to teach you about Ocular ultrasound. And yes, I know Castlefest has just ended, but we don't like to live in the past. We've got a special announcement today. ALASKAFEST 2012! I'd tell you about it right now, but why don't you just watch the episode and we explain everything fully at the end. Or if you REALLY can't wait go to www.alaskafest2012.com. We've got room for about 1/4th of the people we had at Castlefest, so don't get mad at us if it's full. Registration is open now. p.s. - audio for this episode isn't perfect as it's recorded from a lapel mic at Castlefest, but it's Chris Fox people, so quit your complaining....... | 4/30/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoEpisode 25 – EPSS + App Release | EPSS and APPS!! One's a cool, quick way to measure LVEF, and the other's the answer to all your ultrasound hopes, dreams, and aspirations! The wait is over! So not long ago we got a suggestion from Scott Weingart: "Maybe EPSS would be a cool episode." Well, our mothers both taught us that "When The Scott says it.....it's true". So we made it, and he was right. It is a pretty good episode if we do say ourselves. So if you want to learn how to quickly, accurately measure your patient's ejection fraction then you've come to the right place. Sit back and let Mike and Matt get all up in your earbuds and educate you. As for the App, it's FINALLY done! Just to be clear, we would never recommend making an app as it can be a real pain. But it's here, and we think you're gonna love it! We're still working diligently to add more "episodes" to it, and we have plans to double the size of the current app, but it's already got a TON of content. And as for the price: (SPOILER ALERT) it's free!......but complicated. There's going to be a paid and free version with basically the same content. Listen in to the very end of the episode to hear a more detailed explanation. It's not free to make an app, but we think we've creatively figured out a way to get this sweet tool into your hands at no cost to you. Why not tell us now you say? Well we put it at the end because we think this EPSS episode is some pretty quality education and we didn't want to detract from it with some app nonsense. I mean, come on, smartphones and ultrasound. Who has a smartphone and who uses ultrasound. Both probably fads........ iPhone users can grab it here: One Minute Ultrasound App - iPhone Version Droid folks can get it here: One Minute Ultrasound - Droid Version | 4/10/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoOne Minute Ultrasound Smartphone App | OK, so you may have heard the rumors. Is it true? Is the Ultrasound Podcast really coming out with an App? Well, I probably wouldn't be typing this if it wasn't. So here it is! The app is called "One Minute Ultrasound". The premise is: We've all been to a course or two now, right? You've seen a lecture on how to do these things. But right before you go in a room to do it, wouldn't it be nice to see it demonstrated one more time. I mean not many of us have an "ultrasound director" with us scanning every shift. So that's our goal, to teleport ourselves to the bedside with you via your smartphone. We've taken the ultrasound procedures and tried to cram a demo of each one with simultaneous video of hand placement, normal images, and pathology all into one minute each. It's something you can take a look at right before going into a patient's room, or I've been using it to teach med students or residents. It's great to show them quickly how to do it right before scanning something for the first time. It can take care of the "see one" part of "see one, do one, teach one" and really speed up education as it's even got pathology pics, which you usually don't get with your first "see one". Now, it's not actually in the app store yet.....sorry. But we're very close. Expect it by April 1. But until then here are some examples and "how-tos" for Ocular, Wall motion abnormality, gallbladder, and Cardiac Output. Enjoy! | 3/15/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoEpisode 24 – Femoral Nerve | Roar! March is coming in like a lion. A lion that needs a femoral nerve block. How can you do it easily? Ultrasound of course! Watch this latest episode and be one of the cool kids. Knock that femoral nerve block out like a pro. Every time. hit us up on Twitter! | 3/1/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoEpisode 23 – Fluid Responsiveness Part 2 | OK. So it's time to bring home the fluid responsiveness. There's no way we could punish you with more than 30 minutes of this, so we broke it up. In this episode we give some more examples and talk about some algorithms you can actually use in your practice. Hopefully after this you'll be able to actually do this yourself. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @ultrasoundpod | 2/16/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoEpisode 22 – Fluid Responsiveness Part 1 | So you want to know if you're patient's going to be fluid responsive but you don't have the fancy machine that Drs. Weingart and Marik recently talked about on EmCrit. So what should you do? You could stand at the bedside and wait for your hospital to purchase said device, but that may not be the best for you patient. Instead, pull out 'ol reliable, your ultrasound machine. We're gonna teach you how to predict fluid responsiveness with just your hands and the probe (and we're not talking about just measuring the IVC....we know you know that). As a bonus, you're going to learn how to measure Cardiac Output with just the ultrasound machine, and we'll give you a demo. If you haven't started following us on Twitter, today's a great day to start. @ultrasoundpod | 2/1/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoWeingart & Fluid Responsiveness | February is Fluid Responsiveness Month on The Ultrasound Podcast and we've got a little preview for you here. This is actually snippets from a conversation we had with Scott Weingart several months ago talking about several things including fluid responsiveness, cardiac output, testicles, PE, and more. Enjoy!! Update: Fluid Responsiveness Podcast Part 1 is now online | 1/23/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoEpisode 21 – Full Peritonsillar Abscess Podcast | Here it is. The one and only Rob Orman on the podcast talking about Peritonsillar abscess. If you've never heard of him get your head out of wherever it is and go listen to some more of him on ERCAST. Warning: You may see people doing things with probes that will make you lose all respect for them as human beings. | 1/12/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoRob Orman on Ultrasound Podcast to talk about Peritonsillar Abscess. | Some of you may have heard an EMRAP recently (not really recently - maybe 6 months ago) with Rob Orman talking to an ENT doc, Dr. Shiley, about peritonsillar abscess. However, there was NO mention in the podcast of ultrasound, which is a huge part of our workup and treatment. So Mike and I have great respect for Dr. Orman. So much respect that we thought we would lambast him publicly for this OUTRAGE! Actually, he doesn't have the right probe in his ED to do what we normally do for PTAs, and that's why he doesn't do it, but he's a good enough sport that he agreed to let us "make an example" of him and teach you this skill. So here's a quick preview of the upcoming podcast. We'll have the full version ready to go in a few days. | 1/10/12 | Free | View In iTunes
VideoEpisode 20 – EMCrit Cric Commentary | So... if you're not listening to Scott Weingart and the EMcrit podcast then....well....I don't know what to say to you. Stop doing what you're doing, download every episode, memorize them all, and then come back here. Please don't waste your time listening to us if you haven't soaked in the brilliance of the EM/Critical care god that is Scott Weingart. After you've done that, then I'm pretty sure you'll be jonesing for some more Scottness, and we've got your fix. Here he is giving his opinion about our recent cric podcast. And like always it's a pretty opinionated opinion. So take a listen and learn......isn't his voice sexy? (Edit: If you have had any issues with this episode playing, it should be resolved now.) Our Full Cric podcast can be found here Our Quick Cric shortcast can be found here | 1/6/12 | Free | View In iTunes

VideoEpisode 18 – Testicular Ultrasound Part 2 | You know what they say: Two testicle podcasts are better than one! OK, we don't know if anyone's ever said that.....but it's true. It just seems like the right number. So here you go. You may have finished the last podcast feeling slightly incomplete, but this should do the trick. If you're not a testicle master or s*****m sensei by the end of this then..............well let us know and we'll try again. Episode Part 1 can be found here | 12/14/11 | Free | View In iTunes
| 18 | VideoEpisode 17 – Testicular Ultrasound – Part 1 | Boys and Girls, it's that time of year again. It's December and you know what that means. It's Testicle Month on The Ultrasound Podcast! We're going to spend the Holiday season teaching you about how to ultrasound the acute s*****m. Whether you've been naughty or nice, we don't care. We think everyone should be handy with testicle ultrasound, mainly because we know we may be traveling in your neck of the woods when our very own testicles start aching. So sit down, grab some eggnog, put on your mock turtleneck, and enjoy..... Here's Round One of our Testicular Ultrasound Podcast. Edit: Part 2 is now available here.
