Puck + Punk = 5 Stars
Oi!
Great podcast!
Really enjoy the music, interviews, and punk news. And the love the hosts have for hockey is definitely infectious. Helped get me into the sport, from being curious but clueless a couple months ago to going to my first game this weekend. Fun to listen to on the walk to work.
I thought the title was optional, iTunes.
Peter and Brandon do a great job with this show. The segments are well done (enough), and they nicely walk to line between a show that is clearly done by a couple of dudes having cocktails and a professional sounding show. The puck talk is always solid and timely, which can be a problem with some casts that are stale by the time they are released. Although there is a bit of a Central slant (and that's okay with me, I'm a Hawks fan) they obviously give time to each team as that team's week comes, and they also talk about the league in general pretty solidly. I'm not much of a punk fan at this point in my life, but the discussions about punk scenes are interesting, and I actually have found a couple of bands from this show that are pretty cool. If you're not into hockey at all, the hockey aspect of the show is (obviously) going to be a bit much to justify listening to the show just for the music, but if you're a hockey fan who is at least the slightest bit open-minded, you will enjoy this show.
On the downside, you will be unable to cease picturing Brandon as Seth Rogen, and Peter does kind of sound like he's 15.
I kid, I kid. Well, I don't really, but I have to bust their balls a bit. This was getting to be a little bit too much of a lovefest.
Bottom line: this is a solid podcast that deserves some love. Give them an hour. It's worth it.
