THE GOSPEL – Our Message for the Mission Part 3: JESUS | Our Mission is to glorify God through lives changed by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This mission has many facets, but the foundation of the mission is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the rock upon which His church is built, the cornerstone of our knowledge of God and our faith in God. The Great Commission found in the last few verses of Matthew 28 was Jesus’ mission for His church. The way we are to accomplish this mission is to proclaim the truth about Jesus to all the nations, making disciples of them, baptizing them, and teaching them all that Jesus has commanded of us. This message is what we are studying in this four week series, THE GOSPEL. This week we are talking about part three: JESUS (who He is, what He has done, and what He has promised to do). THE GOSPEL The Message of the Mission Part 3: JESUS THE PERSON OF JESUS 1. Jesus is fully God and fully man. A. Jesus was born of a virgin. (Luke 1:34-35) B. The Son is one in essence with the Father. (John 1:1, 14) 2. Jesus is without sin. THE WORK OF JESUS 1. Jesus is our sacrifice. (1 Corinthians 5:7) A. We deserve to die as the penalty for sin. B. Jesus paid the penalty that we deserve. 2. Jesus is our propitiation. (Romans 3:23-25) A. We deserve to bear God’s wrath against sin. B. Jesus bore God’s wrath toward us in full. C. Jesus changed God’s wrath toward us into favor. 3. Jesus is our reconciliation. (Romans 5:10-11; Colossians 1:19-23) A. We are separated from God by our sin. B. Jesus removed enmity between God and us. C. Jesus restored fellowship between God and us. 4. Jesus is our redemption. (Mark 10:45; Galatians 3:13; Colossians 1:13-14) A. We are in bondage to sin and Satan’s kingdom. B. Jesus purchased us out of our bondage. C. Jesus paid the ransom to God. To listen to this sermon, CLICK HERE. | 6/27/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

THE CORE: Worship (Hebrews 13:15-17) | Our latest sermon series is based on our Core Values. Each week we will be covering one of our church’s five core values. This week we are talking about worship. Unlike what most people think when they hear the word worship, it is not simply what we do when we sing songs about God. We are born worshipping. We are either worshipping someone or something or we are worshipping our Creator. This week we are going to try and understand what worship is and how we can align our hearts and minds to make sure we worship the only one who deserves to be worshipped…our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Here’s a short outline with a link to the sermon below, or if you have iTunes, you can go to our page there and subscribe to our podcast. THE CORE: Worship Hebrews 13:15-17 I. We Are Created Worshipping 1. Worship is honoring someone or something: glory. 2. Worship is something we do: sacrifice. Our lives are about not doing some things so we can find time or money to do things more important to us. II. We Have a Worship Problem 1. Sin is making something else more central to your significance, purpose, and happiness than your relationship with God. 2. Whatever we base our identity and value on becomes deified. 3. The root of the problem is always that you are worshipping something or someone over God. 4. We must constantly seek and smash our idols! III. The Essentials of Biblical Worship 1. Praise 2. Proclamation: lips that confess Jesus’ name 3. Service: doing good as a demonstration of the gospel 4. Participation: sharing with others as a demonstration of grace 5. Sacrifice: giving of time, talent, and treasure 6. Submission: respecting godly authority placed over us To listen to the Podcast, CLICK HERE. The Mission of Jesus: A Concern for the City (Luke 19:41-44) | Our latest series of sermons is based on the mission of Jesus. Our responsibility as Christians is to become more like Jesus every day. This means we are to learn and understand the mission of Jesus so that we can live on mission with him. This week’s sermon reveals that being on mission with Jesus means we have to be concerned for the city like He was. Our actions determine our impact for the kingdom. To listen to the Podcast, CLICK HERE. To subscribe to our podcast, CLICK HERE. | 3/28/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

A Call to War (Ephesians 6:10-24) | The Bible is clear that anyone who professes to be a Christian must live in a way that shows that they truly are committed followers of Jesus Christ. At the end of the book of Ephesians, Paul makes it very clear that God’s calling on our lives to be a Christian is also His call on our lives to enter into a war. This week’s sermon reveals why we are at war, with whom/what we are at war, and what we need to do in order to prepare for battle. Do not be mistaken, if you are a Christian, you are already at war, whether you realize it or not! Here’s a short outline with a link to the sermon below, or if you have iTunes, you can go to our page there and subscribe to our podcast. Our Call to Christ is a Call to War! I. Awaken to the war around you! 1. Our ongoing relationship with God is our strength. 2. The war is personal and corporate. II. Christianity is a call to continually stand firm. 1. Our past accomplishments are not enough. 2. We begin with truth at our core. 3. Your character is at your defense. 4. The gospel must be our firm-footing! 5. Two problems we have in this day and age: Commitment-Phobia & Lone-Rangerism. II. A healthy Church is filled with Men and Women who: 1. See Scripture as the final authority on all things. 2. Are pursuing Jesus as the ultimate treasure. 3. Follow in obedience after Christ in the ordinances. 4. Genuinely love one another and enjoy participating with one another in healthy biblical community. 5. Make up an open-handed church. 6. Submitting to God pt. 2: Husbands (Eph 5:25-33) | God gave us the institution of marriage ultimately to point us toward the relationship between Jesus and his bride, the church. In fact, the gift of marriage was given not just for us and our enjoyment, but to help us display the glory of God to the world. This text is the second in a short series within Ephesians on how we are to submit to authority in order to display God’s glory and magnify our Lord, Jesus. This week we are focused on how husbands are to love their wives as Christ loves the church and gave himself up for her. Here’s a short outline with a link to the sermon below, or if you have iTunes, you can go to our page there and subscribe to our podcast. Submitting to God pt. 2: Husbands Husbands, love your wives as Jesus loves the church: 1. Jesus feeds his bride. 2. Jesus lavishes his bride with gifts. 3. Jesus knows his bride intimately. 4. Jesus is long-suffering with his bride. 5. Jesus continually encourages his bride. 6. Jesus pursues his bride, wooing her. 7. Jesus fought for the purity and holiness of his bride. 8. Jesus gives himself fully to his bride. 9. Jesus sacrificed everything for his bride. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast, it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices wit the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” Marriage was created to point to Jesus and the gospel. The Great Exchange “This is that mystery which is rich in divine grace to sinners: wherein by a wonderful exchange our sins are no longer ours but Christ’s, and the righteousness of Christ not Christ’s but ours. He has emptied himself of his righteousness that he might clothe us with it and fill us with it; and he has taken our evils upon himself that he might deliver us from them.” – Martin Luther To listen to the Podcast, CLICK HERE.
