Podcast Description
Four mid-Missouri college students cope with their unhealthy video game obsessions by talking about them. A lot. Much of our conversations are dominated by recently released games, but we also indulge in reminiscing about our all-time favorites. And the occassional Venture Brothers reference for good measure. We are a goofy bunch, but we talk as much sense as we do nonsense.

ExplicitWorld 8-46: Tony Yayo Doesn't Waste Your Ammo | Peripherals. Huh. Good God. What are they good for? We discuss our favorite peripherals that we own and spend plenty of time critizing ourselves over some of the more questionable purchases we've made, and tackle the viability of peripherals in the modern era in the wake of the controversial 3DS circle pad attachment. Plus impressions of the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Asura's Wrath Demos, AJ finished Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Bastion, Bryan finished Mafia II, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and played Moon Diver, Outland, and Metroid Fusion, Jordan and Bryan played PixelJunk Shooter 2 and Magicka, Jordan played PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe and a certain PSP Final Fantasy fighting game he's fond of, and Chase continues to endure the stupidity of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. Plus we discuss the Resident Evil 6 trailer and the the troll-tastic version of Mega Man revealed for Street Fighter X Tekken, getting excited for the new SSX, and the new Steam app for mobile phones. | 1/31/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-44 (Castle): The Second Annual World 8-ies | Dragons were slain. Dark Phoenixes rose. Arch-nemeses were turned into potatoes. And Waddle-copters took flight. It was a year to remember for sure, but which game took home Game of the Year? Listen to our deliberation process for over 20 categories! Shake your head in disbelief at how uninformed our opinions are! And marvel in disgust at how many ties we end up settling on! | 12/20/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-38: I'm Going to the Bathroom Anyway | World-8-Coorespondant-Against-His-Will Zach Fleeman returns from PAX relatively unscathed and regales us with his tales - waiting in lines, collecting swag, falling asleep at panels... you know, that sort of fun. ExplicitWorld 8-36: The Pawntage | Since no games have come out the past 2 months, we decided to hold off until now to have a meaningful "game of the year thus far" discussion. For games we've played, we've got Infinity Blade and Sword and Sorcery for the iPad, Alice: Madness Returns, Catherine, Dynasty Warriors 6, Rock Band 3, Super Street Fighter IV, Mega Man X3, F.E.A.R. 3, Alpha Protocol, Metroid Fusion, and a way way way too long of a discussion about Chessmaster: The Art of Learning for the PSP. There's a red 3DS coming out with Star Fox 64 next month, Valve announced a new Counter-Strike, Peter Moore got promoted to COO of EA, the Catherine sales figures cake was slightly exaggerated, Microsoft accidentally gave people free MS points, and Nintendo's investors are suggesting the Big N make its first party software available for mobile devices. ExplicitWorld 8-35: You Get Fork-Stabbed! | We're back after a lengthy hiatus. Too bad approximately 0 new important games were released in the last 3 weeks! But we work with what we've got. Come listen to us talk about Bastion, Hunted: The Demon's Forge, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, Groove Coaster for the iPhone, Catherine, our favorite moments from EVO 2011, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 leaks, cancelling Mega Man Legends 3, Borderlands 2 being announced, and the 3DS price drop and "ambassador" program. | 8/10/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-34: Home of the World's Most Comfortable Pair of Shoes | What does it mean to be part of a game community? Does just playing the game make you a member of the community and entitle you to certain benefits? We discuss the relevance of a community to a game's success, how developers can and have cultivated them, the power of user-generated content in fostering them, how MMO communities differ from all the rest, and whether or not we'd ever want to go to a gaming convention. Plus Ms. Splosion Man, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, Caster, CreaVurs, and news on a possible Rockstar movie studio, rumors of a revision of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, a Final Fantasy music/rhythm game, someone wanting to make a Stephen Colbert game, and Konami's "DDR Obesity Summit." | 7/18/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-33: Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dogs | "You know which game they should remake?" You know you've asked yourself that question before, but should you be careful what you wish for? We discuss the recent trend of remakes, what we expect out of them, what they've done right and wrong, and yes, which ones we feel haven't gotten such deserving treatment. Plus F.E.A.R. 3, Trenched, Duke Nukem Forever, Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers, Dead or Alive: Dimensions, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, the Supreme Court decision to treat video games as protected free speech, the Team Fortress 2 free-to-play update, Nintendo turning down publishing Xenoblade in America, the GaiKai/Wal-Mart digital distribution partnership, and more! | 7/7/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-Ghost House: E3 2011 | Another year, another Electronic Entertainment Expo, and another weird-ass Nintendo console. With Evan Killham as our guest, we collectively bitch and moan about everything we saw about the Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Ubisoft, and EA conferences. There's a glimmer of optimism in there somewhere. Find it and we'll give you a prize! Special Guest: Evan Killham | 6/10/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-31: Boshi is NOT Evil! | It's an E3 predictions episode one full day too late! You're not gonna get that anywhere else, folks. And we've been playing the Duke Nukem Forever demo, Mortal Kombat, L.A. Noire, KOTOR II, Digital Devil Saga, Who's That Flying?, LittleBigPlanet 2, and the Witcher 2. Plus a brief discussion about stat tracking. Special Guest: cicadas. | 6/7/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-30: Magic Chariot P***s | There will be NO MENTION of a certain underwhelming hispanic comedian on this episode. That I have made sure. This episode also marks the glorious return of TOPICS! With each of us making cases for our most dissapointing games of all time. Plus we've been playing The Witcher 2, Brink, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, The Last Templar, a Half-Life 1 co-op mod, Fallout: New Vegas, Alpha Protocol, more 3DS stuff, Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, Dead Rising 2, and Final Fantasy IV: Complete Collection! | 5/24/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-29: BOMBARDMENT | TWO GUESTS ENTER, ONE GUEST LEAVES. (One guest did actually leave, too.) It's finally time to let out the Portal 2 spoilers we've been holding back for over 2 weeks! Plus the PlayStation Network crisis, Mortal Kombat, Homefront, Dead Space HD, TrackMania Turbo, and a celebration of video game mothers on this most beloved Day of Mothers. Also: a lengthy discussion on the various forms of dodgeball. Special Guests: Zach Fleeman and Mike Cerame | 5/10/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
20 |
ExplicitWorld 8-28: Know Your Enemy | We made a concerted effort to not talk about Portal 2 gameplay details despite wanting to so very badly, so instead we talk "about" Portal 2 (things like the Potato Sack ARG, Steam on PS3, and the mockup of a professor's text message saying class was cancelled due to the game's release). Plus some Mega Man news (a.k.a Bryan news), death of the PSP Go, Patapon 3, Hard Corps: Uprising, Valkyria Chronicles, more Monster Tale, and Splosion Man. Special Guest: Mike Rousseau | 4/27/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

21 |
ExplicitWorld 8-27: Akumanized | Remember when all of us said we were going to hold off on buying a 3DS at launch on the last episode? Turns out by "all of us" actually meant "everyone except Chase." But his lack of willpower is to your benefit, so you get his impressions of the system, as well as Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition and Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars. Plus Crysis 2, Monster Tale, Patchwork Heroes, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Lost Odyssey, Bioshock 2, more Okamiden, and news about Mega Man Universe getting cancelled, the announcemnt of a new Sonic game that's probably already dead-in-the-water. | 4/12/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-26: Mario Duck Hunter | On this episode: Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy, de Blob 2, Okamiden, the new Marvel vs. Capcom 3 characters, Duke Nukem Forever's obligatory final delay, the new Resident Evil online action spinoff, Japan relief efforts, some brief 3DS hands-on impressions, and a lengthy discussion of the significance of game reviews and how they influence purchasing decisions. | 3/29/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-25: Mario Duck Hunter | Resident Dragon Age expert and significant other of Bryan (bless her soul) Danielle Doerr joins us to discuss Dragon Age II at length, specifically how it stacks up to Origins. 24 |
ExplicitWorld 8-24: She-Hulk Looks Like Laila Ali | Normally we'd include a bunch of jokes about Pringles, Haagen-Dazs, curly moustaches, and our dislike of the New York Knicks right here, but Capcom started acknowleding all of those in their press releases, effectively making them uncool. Regardless, we're all kind of obsessed with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 right now, so get ready to hear us geek out about it for a good 45 minutes straight. Plus some other inconsequential news. But let's face it: you came for the M.O.D.O.K impressions. Special Guest: Adnan Khan | 3/1/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-23: It's Coming at My Face! | We've got quite a bit of news to cover, on top of some finally worthwhile new releases! - LittleBigPlanet 2, Stacking, the Bulletstorm Demo, and Dead Space 2 - the latter of which insipres our discussion about survival/horror games. Special Guest: Corey Motley | 2/16/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-22: The Jesui | Get your hair gel, your excsessive amounts of belts and zippers, and your replica Buster Sword: this episode's topic is all about Final Fantasy. What does it mean to be a Final Fantasy game, how did it build its leigon of millions of fans, and what does the name Final Fantasy mean now compared to what it meant in the past? Also Sony and Nintendo have ensured the internet will be aflame in yet another portable game console debate between the 3DS and NGP thanks to their recent announcements. And we've been playing not-new games. Again! Special Guest: Robert Read | 2/1/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

27 |
ExplicitWorld 8-21: Maybe Their Eyes Work Differently | It's a whole 16 days into the new year, and not a single new game worth playing in sight. So let's talk about Zelda II: The Adventure of Link for a whole 10 minutes! Also Kinect outselling the Move 2-to-1, the 3DS being region-locked, and reminiscing (more like digging up horrible repressed memories) of video game films. ExplicitWorld 8-20: I've Heard It Both Ways | A new age has dawned. Feels a whole lot like the last age, though. Stupid ages. With the help of returning guest Mike Rousseau, we're closing the book on 2010 for good: the game we played over X-mas, the most notable games, trends, and otherwise notable things of last year get one last mention, our personal top 5 favorite games of 2010, and the 5 games we're each looking forward to the most in 2011. ExplicitWorld 8-19 (Castle): The First Annual World 8-ies | Insert obligatory end-of-year awards show here. 25 categories! Some already-decided winners changed! Jordan and AJ get screwed on everything! And who took home the prestegious "Best Game to Play while Taking a Dump", "Best Worst Accent in a Game", "Most Japanese (stiff controls)", "Most Japanese (just plain crazy)", and "Best Game that Makes You So F*****g Angry You Want to Punch a Baby, but You Keep F*****g Playing It Anyway" awards? | 12/14/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-18: All Racism Is True | AJ moonlights yet another show in person, despite the whole world knowing his voice sounds much sexier over Skype. Wait. Sorry. What were we talking about? Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Dragon Quest IX, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Fallout: New Vegas, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, Dragon's Lair, Super Princess Peach, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood? Oh. Ok. Yeah. Sounds good. Plus some scrutiny of the OnLive microconsole and the Spike VGAs, and some brainstorming for next show's game awards! | 12/1/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-17: World 8 After Hours | Join us for dinner, won't you? Just don't try any funny stuff. 2010 is winding down, so it's time to catch up on games we've missed, wrap up games once and for all, and pick and choose for our our Christmas lists. Chase went on a Mario spending spree for DS, AJ finally closes the book (FINALLY) on Persona 3 Portable before returning to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Bryan loves him some God of War: Chains of Olympus, and the concept of a game that gets easier every time you fail at it - ZHP: Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman - is too much for Chase's brain to handle. We contemplate the concept of a tutorial in a video game - which games do them properly and which do them poorly, and whether they should exist at all - and some current event news type things to start the show! | 11/16/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-16: Phoenix Rice | Too many games. TOO MANY. It's that time of year, I guess. Have some Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Split/Second, Fable III, Costume Quest, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Rock Band 3, Halo: Reach, Medal of Honor, Final Fantasy X, Enslaved, Comic Jumper, Super Meat Boy, Plants vs. Zombies, Holy Invasion of Privacy 2, Vanquish, Fallout: New Vegas, Bit.Trip FATE, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, ClaDun - This is an RPG!, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2. Oh, and some news. But GAAAAMES. Like BRAAAAINS. Like Zombies. Cuz it was Halloween. Work with me, here. | 11/1/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitWorld 8-15: I Want Some Clean Litigation | Chase is a grown man now, so now when we put that Explicit tag in iTunes, we mean it. All sorts of game delays made the headlines, and we've been playing Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Super Scribblenauts, the new Sacrifice campaign for both Left 4 Deads, and the start of an experimental playthrough of Borderlands kicks off a discussion about going to back to games and playing them in different and interesting ways. | 10/17/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

34 |
ExplicitWorld 8-14: The First 300 Turns Were Pretty Good | We've been playing lots of games. Got a problem with that? No? Good, because we couldn't come up with some fancy "topic of discussion" this week. Instead you can hear us blab about some Minecraft, Dead Rising 2, Borderlands Claptrap's Robot Revolution DLC, Metroid: Other M, Civilization V, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, and Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Plus the announcements about the 3DS date, pricing and capabilites have consumed our thoughts in the news segment. Also: don't be deceieved by the length of the show. Just stick around after the bloopers to hear a little something extra. Special Guest: Zach Fleeman (again!) | 10/4/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

35 |
ExplicitWorld 8-13: Kevin Butler Isn't Real | Internet power outages cannot stop the World 8 podcast, but they can turn AJ's voice into a garbled, incoherent mess. But only for the first half! Tokyo Game Show just happened and we're all excited by things like Phantasy Star Online 2, a new Final Fantasy Dissidia game, and the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD remasters, and dismayed by things like Dante's new meth-addict look and Kevin Butler just being a figment of our imaginations. We've been playing Halo: Reach, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, more Persona 3 Portable (guess who), and some Phantasy Star Online for old times' sake. Plus we cannot contain our excitement for Civilization V and the upcoming DLC for Borderlands, and we announce the winners of last episode's Plain Sight giveaway! | 9/19/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
36 |
ExplicitWorld 8-12: It Was a Good Month for Strawberries | The Podcasting Gods were not smiling upon us this day, for our entire segment about which games we have been playing failed to record right under our noses. We'll make up for it next episode; we promise. A good time was still had by all, though, thanks to the wit and wisdom of special guest and UK native Alex Martin, who gives us some insight into the UK games market with Mafia II dominating the sales charts. The upcoming Xbox Live Gold price increase also sparks some debate, and Gearbox is moving heaven and earth to turn Duke Nukem Forever into a playable product. Stick around for the end of the show where you'll find out how to win a free copy of Plain Sight on Steam! Special guest: Alex Martin from Cerebral Pop and Cast Medium | 9/6/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

37 |
ExplicitWorld 8-11: It's ALWAYS Kathy Griffin | AJ had his first experience with Final Fantasy IV, Jordan and Bryan played Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days multiple times, Jordan has begun training his elite hacking skills with Uplink, Bryan enjoyed PixelJunk Shooter, and Chase has been catching up on some shooters. Special guest Erin Kaplan drives our first main topic with discussion of favorite "non-video" games - board games, tabletop, and the like. Plus some good and bad examples of games we would enjoy watching others play as much as playing ourselves. | 8/24/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
38 |
ExplicitWorld 8-10: No One Cares about Cuba | Congratulations: you are listening to the only gaming podcast in the world that isn't talking about StarCraft II this week. We have nothing against it; it's just not our cup of tea. So we've occupied ourselves with older games, from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story to Mother 3 to Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. A whopping three topics dominate the majority of the show: preserving the legacy of games that heavily rely on online servers, the biggest foreseeable trends for gaming in the near future, and some examples of particularly well-designed games in our minds. Special guest: the ghost of AJ | 8/9/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
39 |
ExplicitWorld 8-9: Beat Me Harder! | It's AJ's last (live) show, but he STILL doesn't get any slack for wanting to talk about Persona, Team Fortress and Left 4 Dead all the time. But Dragon Quest IX just came out and has already consumed over 100 hours of Chase's life, so that's understandable. Two main topics: sidequests (which games should have them and how should they be implemented) and difficulty settings (ditto). Plus Alien Swarm, Limbo, more Crackdown 2, and too many games on Bryan's list to count. Special guest: Zach Fleeman from wekeepitreal.net | 7/26/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

40 |
ExplicitWorld 8-8: Who Owns the Rights to Street Sharks? | Don't care about Persona games? Neither does Chase! You can share in his misery while the rest of us discuss Persona 3 Portable at length, and special guest and P3 veteran Tyler Frahm weighs in on the differences from the PS2 originals. Plus: everyone is now officially on the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker bandwagon, impressions of the full version of Crackdown 2, Bryan finished Alan Wake and "indulged" in Deathsmiles, the massive Engineer Update for Team Fortress 2, and a little more Super Mario Galaxy 2. And news is still slow after E3, so.... Last Airbender movie, anyone? | 7/13/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
41 |
ExplicitWorld 8-7: She's Just MEDICALLY Dead | Most of us, for one reason or another, had Final Fantasy games on the brain, so our main discussion revolves around the concept of killing or removing characters from a cast mid-game and their ramifications, and special guest Danielle Doerr joins us for this second half of the show. AJ powers through Trauma Team, the number of people in the same room that play Team Fortress 2 reaches a record-breaking 3, Bryan is playing (watching?) Metal Gear Solid 4 and continues to soldier through 3D Dot Game Heroes, as well as try out Naughty Bear and Transformers: War for Cybertron, more MGS: Peace Walker, the Crackdown 2 demo, Jordan revisits Half-Life 2, Chase's seething hatred of Final Fantasy IV somehow translates into appreciation of an obscure Mega Man RPG he picked up for cheap on a whim, and special guest (#2) Michael Rousseau has incredibly exhausting impressions of Puzzle Quest 2 that go straight over the rest of our heads. | 6/29/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
42 |
ExplicitWorld 8-6: It's All About Grip | Special guest Alex Cronk-Young joins us on the eve of E3 2010 to discuss our predictions with a little more thoughtfulness and detail than last time. He's also the last bastion of pre-PS2 era games as he dominates our whatchu' been playing segment with Metroid: Zero Mission and even more Shadow of the Colossus. AJ defends Alpha Protocol against that group of haters known as the gaming media, Bryan and Jordan are very positive about the full version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Chase wraps up Red Dead Redemption, we briefly acknowledge Green Day: Rock Band, and the Mac release of Team Fortress 2 finally gives AJ an excuse to gush about it some more. | 6/14/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
43 |
ExplicitWorld 8-5: The Twaddlydoo Bandwagon | Brand new games discussed include the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo, Trauma Team, Super Mario Galaxy 2, ModNation Racers, and an extended segment on Red Dead Redemption. Plus AJ and Bryan put Resident Evil 5 to rest, everyone is so sick of hearing about SMT: Strange Journey from AJ they could cry, and we have plenty of things to say about Deadly Premonition despite not having played a second of it (Thanks, Giant Bomb!). Red Dead Redemption also kicks off our main discussion about moral decisions in games and the characters we force to make those decisions. Also some quick n' dirty E3 predictions and wishes. | 5/30/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
44 |
ExplicitWorld 8-4: Kid Icarus and Carnage in: Bad Boys III | Jordan officially joins the crew to talk about Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands for Wii, Chase discovers Torchlight thanks to the launch of Steam for Mac, Bryan loves 3D Dot Game Heroes, Chase is the last line of defense against our Lost Planet 2 hate, we all fawn over Bit.Trip RUNNER, and a little more Super Street Figter IV, Final Fantasy XIII, Batman: AA and Left 4 Dead 2. Plus: Chase and AJ's MvC3 bet comes to an abrupt end, we do a complete 180 of last week's segment by discussing games we never want to play again, and apparently Shadow of the Colossus was so awesome that we talk about it for 20 minutes straight for the hell of it. | 5/21/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
45 |
ExplicitWorld 8-3: Discount T*****s Warehouse | Other than Super Street Fighter IV, this was a "catch up on 2009" period for all of us. Bryan and AJ began a co-op journey through Resident Evil 5, AJ got hooked on Left 4 Dead 2 yet again thanks to The Passing DLC, and Chase finally started Batman: Arkham Asylum. Then we muse about a few more of our favorites from years past before reminding ourselves of games we started, but never finished, in an attempt to motivate ourselves to man up and finally put them to rest. Also: lots of nonsensical speculation over how the new Bungie-Activision partnership will pan out, and the start of a $10 bet between AJ and Chase over a certain character apppearing in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. | 5/5/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
46 |
ExplicitWorld 8-2: Did We Get All the Star Coins from the First One? | In our first episode featuring theme music and something resembling production values, we discuss our experiences playing Heavy Rain, Cave Story, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, a little more Warioware: D.I.Y, Tilt to Live, GeoDefense Swarm, Fable II, the Splinter Cell: Conviction co-op demo, and Plain Sight. (whew!) Rumors of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 are more real than ever, so of course we speculate over characters. We also have some things to say about the national television treatment of the Gears of War 3 announcement. And for some reason, we discuss the relative merits (or lack thereof) of George Lopez's comedy. Plus three more of our favorites of all time! | 4/20/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
