Podcast Description
This free audio book is a historical fiction and alternate reality novel written in a setting wherein only 10% of the U.S. population is heterosexual, and the only difference in the history of the past 100 years is that 90% of the population is gay. The book is available in paperback and E-Book format for $19.95 through your retail bookseller of choice. The Human Rights Campaign receives a $1.00 donation for each paperback and E-Book sold. The story is based in Southern California. Marcus is a straight man born in 1930 whom against all odds, finds the woman of his dreams, in spite of the problems that he and Marie must overcome. They love, they strive, they succeed, and they spend their entire lifetimes together, despite the deck being stacked against them as the most overlooked minority population in the country. This love story is laced with historical facts and laws that are educational for the reader; yet, it is uproariously funny. It challenges you to bend your conception of past and present time. This novel promises to expand your thinking and to pose questions in your mind. It is uplifting, intellectually intriguing, and best of all, it has a happy ending. Are you as open-minded as you believe yourself to be? Can you think outside of the box? Over the Course of a Lifetime will guide you to the answers within yourself. J. G. Woodward, a descendent of Edgar Allan Poe, General Robert E. Lee, and President George Washington, obtained Bachelors and Masters degrees from Kent State University. She makes her home in Akron, Ohio and she is known as “The Peoples Poet,” due to her ability to reach a diversity of readers. Ms. Woodward is the author of Tumultuous Journey, Poems Along the Way and the sequel, Poems Beyond the Journey. Her remaining two poetry collections scheduled for release are Allegories, to be released in 2009 and Analogies, to be released in 2010. Ms. Woodward was a winner in the 2008 J. B. Solomon Poetry Contest and several of her poems are included in that publishing houses anthology poetry book. Over the Course of a Lifetime is Ms. Woodwards debut novel.

Really Stimulating!
Have you read “Over the Course of a Lifetime”? Get used to hearing this question because this novel is one that everybody is talking about. It is an engaging and thought-provoking read. I found myself being attached to the characters and cheering them on. The story brought tears to my eyes but more so, it caused me to laugh out loud. I even learned a bit of U.S. history along the way! As a straight person, I felt a newfound appreciation for what living as a minority must be like. J. G. Woodward was able to convey the plight of gay people in our country in a positive manner and with a compelling story that made me unable to put the book down. Overall, the novel was uplifting. It will satiate the desires of leisurely readers, self-help book lovers, and intellectuals, as well. Really stimulating!
