Description

Hayden Panettiere (Heroes) and Marcia Gay Harden (Academy Award winner for Pollock) star in the Lifetime Original Movie Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy based on the international headline-grabbing story of the now infamous American exchange student accused by Italian authorities of brutally killing her roommate. Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy poses the question of whether Amanda Knox (Panettiere), the Seattle honors student studying abroad accused of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher (Amanda Fernando Stevens) in 2007 with her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito (Paolo Romio) and acquaintance Rudy Guede (Djirbi Kebe), actually committed the crime or was herself a victim. Is she a pathological liar masquerading as an innocent victim or is she a good girl wrongfully accused? Find out what lies below the surface.

Insulting and Shameful

This movie is an insult to Amanda Knox , Raffaele Sollecito, and Meredith Kercher. Amanda said doesn't want this movie to be seen, she doesn't like it, and neither does her family, or the family of Meredith Kercher. And yet, the money hungry monkeys went ahead with it anyways. They could have waited until Amanda was officially declared Not Guilty, or at least offered to donate the money to her defense fund, but no... that'd be too humane of them.
I used to like Hayden, now I'm just ashamed of her as a person, and an actress.

A Plea To Free An Innocent Girl

I found myself in tears for an innocent girl involved in a world unlike her own. Being in college and experiencing a new world outside your own is frightening and brave, and to face a horrifying conviction is utterly saddening. It is shameful that this horrifying events are now dramatized for the world to see and a girl's life is being played out for her. Walk around and ask your friends if they have heard of this girl's poor struggle and most will tell you they have not. If you explain the evidence in an unbias matter, they will quickly make a judgement on this poor girl's life and it is shameful that in order to rally a cause we must advocate through Hollywood. But I never would have envisioned the tears streaming down my face watching an innocent girl trying to win back her life in a world that "seemed to hate her". The acting on the part of Hayden was phenomenal and I hope this may advocate to actresses and actors the professionalism Hayden undertook being involved in portraying this role. As long as the media exists, stories will be used as weapons and at least this one can bring justice and attention to a girl trying to live the life God gave her. I am sorry if any of my comments offend those involved in the case, I am deeply sorrowful for your loss. I hope that justice may prevail and one day this innocent girl may be free...

It is highly insensitive and harmful to all the real parties involved for this story told as film at this time. At a time when it's still hasn't ran it's course in the courts, which includes the appellate courts. The production crew and actors try to justify that it is correct to base the film on a judge's decision is an insult to the intelligent American public. We all know how flawed, even if well intended, one person's decision can be. There are so many facts and nuances that can't possibly be fully and truly presented in a real courtroom, unlike a fictional TV courtroom. How can a film be put out there without having really interviewed and studied the real characters personally to the fullest extent possible. That sort of review is not possible while the matter is still being litigated in the courts. The parties can't freely talk yet. The information for the film is deficient. I understand the allure of this tragic incident. It is also tragic how the film industry sees the allure being at its highest while the story is still unfolding and, therefore, want to financially capitalize on it - without any regard to the deeply held wishes of both families of not having this being done now - or without any regard how it can really detrimentally affect and influence the outcome. It is an injustice for all those who are really concerned. It is a story that has taken a life of its own for a possible film someday. When that day comes, it might very well be told differently, or with a lot more information giving a much deeper dimension of understanding then the current film. Sadly, for both families, this film was produced when that day had not come yet. These tortured families most certainly can do without that additional trauma right now.
