Description

Proving once and for all that you can’t keep a good Slayer down, Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 Motion Comic picks up where the smash hit TV show left off! Based on the award-winning Dark Horse comic book series, these eye-popping motion comic adventures breathe new life into the Buffyverse for long-time fans and new “watchers” alike. The Hellmouth may have been destroyed, but the world still needs saving, and Buffy Summers is back at her butt-kicking, demon-slaying best to do the job. She’s relocated her base of operations to a castle in Scotland to lead the Scooby Gang, including hundreds of newly activated Slayers scattered around the world to battle the supernatural forces of evil. But in the wake of Sunnydale’s destruction, the U.S. government thinks Buffy and her legions of followers have grown too powerful and are now terrorist threats. Meanwhile, a seemingly unstoppable group of Japanese vampires hatch a nefarious plot, while the biggest, baddest Big Bad of them all, Twilight, is on a mission to destroy every Slayer on Earth!

Pretty good start ...

OK, hardcore Buffy fan here, and I have to say, this is better than I thought it would be. I've always found the Season 8 comics harder to follow than the TV show. Comics are less about Josh's lovably funny snappy dialogue and more about stylized visuals. Comics lack helpful touches like camera movement, zooming, whip pans, and cutting. This means I have to work harder to make meaning from the material, and the results are more cryptic and less purely enjoyable than the original show. (So sue me; I loved Buffy because it was FUNNY.) However, this animated version makes a nice addition to the franchise. My wish list includes using the original actors as voice artists; making an animated series with real, high-quality animation, and employing some of the cinematic storytelling devices that made the TV show such a joy.

BUFFY'S BACK!!!

First episode was great. A must for all btvs fans. First time seeing a motion comic too, it was so much better than I could of ever imagined, what a great medium. Can't wait for more. Thanks Joss!!

I haven't been this excited since 2003!!

I am a huge Buffy/Angel fan and can't wait to see the issues come to life. I bought the first issue of season 8 but am not really a comic book kinda girl. This is will be an excellent way for me to get more of the story. Go Joss!
